So in light of Round 7 I'd like to open up another discussion of Ivantill as Orpheus and Eurydice. A lot of times when I hear people talking about Ivantill' parallels to Orpheus and Eurydice it's in the context of the musical Hadestown but I'd like to propose Ivantill as Orpheus and Eurydice from the game Hades.
Spoilers for Round 7 below!
Since Till is dead now too (whether or not you actually believe that isn't relevant to this particular discussion since I need Till dead for this) it makes it easier for me to disect the lyrics of Good Ridance and apply them to Ivan and Till.
In the game Hades you can find both Orpheus and Eurydice in different parts of the underworld. Orpheus is found in the House of Hades as the Court musician after Zagreus (the protagonist) gets him out of Tartarus. He was sent to Tartarus for refusing to sing for Hades due to his grief. Eurydice can be found in Asphodel in her own room the player can visit if they encounter it on one of their runs. She offers boons that help the player in battle.
Orpheus and Eurydice are separated in death until the player is able to break Orpheus' contract with Hades and get Eurydice to agree to see him again. Before they're reunited though they can both be heard singing "Good Riddance" separately and only sing it together when they're in Eurydice's chamber in Asphodel after being reunited.
While I can't compare Ivan and Till directly to Hades' Orpheus and Eurydice I can compare their current situation to Orpheus and Eurydice's song in the game.
"Good Riddance" is a song with the general message of finding freedom in death. All about being free now that neither have earthly responsibilities or obligations. It's a song meant to represent Eurydice's feelings in the afterlife more than Orpheus'. I feel this song is able to represent Ivantill as well.
"Farewell
To all the earthly remains
No burdens
No further debts to be paid
Atlas
Can rest his weary bones
The weight of the world
All falls away
In time
Goodbye
To all the plans that we made
No contracts
I'm free to do as I may
No hunger
No sleep except to dream
Mild and warm
Safe from all harm
Calm"
After being forced to serve the Segyein since birth, created to be nothing more than entertainment Ivan and Till are both free from that control in death. They're free to create the music they want just because they want to. They don't have to worry about the Segyein using them anymore, their lives are finally their's in death. While their story is tragic much like Orpheus and Eurydice, they're able to find a new happiness even if it isn't under the circumstances they'd hoped.
If I was skilled enough I'd make an animatic for them with this song but unfortunately that's not happening in this life time. You guys see what I mean though right? It's not a perfect comparison and a lot of this is my own wishful thinking but I think it makes sense. Either way you guys should give the full song a listen it's an absolute banger. I want a cover of this from Ivan and Till's VAs so bad but that's also not happening in this life time :')
(Lowkey an Ivan and Sua cover of this would also be fire. They're not Orpheus and Eurydice coded but the vocals would go insane. I can also see them singing the "Atlas can rest his weary bones" line about Till after round 7. Ivansua siblings headcanon is real guys trust)
