Hi!
Hey guys, it's been forever since I've been in Tumblr. I'm trying to be more social and update a few things so here we are!
I'm apprenticing as a tattoo artist now, and though I've not been active I've been doing my own thing and drawing loads.
How have you guys been? Anything new? Let's reconnect (:
I made a super hero called Mystic Moth, yay!
Ooops, just realised I posted this to my other blog. Have a rebagle of my Mystic Moth super hero.
What art school did you go to? I really want to go but I'm struggling to find a school at the moment, help pls?
Hi!
The last school I attended was Vancouver Animation School! I don’t know what your situation is like, but this school is a fantastic online alternative to art colleges/universities.
They have a lot of information on their website, but I’ll detail a few of the things I really enjoyed and appreciated from them (:
1. The teachers:They are all working professionals. The teachers that I had have worked for (or, are still employed by) Pixar, Nickelodeon, Blue Sky Studios, Next Level Games and Capcom. They were all so thorough in what they teach you, how they critique your work and any tips they have for you to move forward in the industry. 2. The online campus: I was worried in the beginning that it would be like talking to a computer, but they’ve worked it out so that you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything. All the staff are available through the online messaging system, or email and from my experience they get back to you within the same day. The class meetings are set up on an online screenshare program. You have the option to have your webcam on or off. Basically these classes are an hour+ long and you get to watch your teacher draw and explain their processes throughout this hour. You can also ask questions and have general chitchat. It’s all in real time (:3. The pre-recorded lessons:These were great. Many of the people you see in these videos do not teach you directly, but are all working professionals (Blizzard Ent, Disney, etc.). These videos show you how to use the programs and give you more tips and tricks for designing. The online meetings with your teachers are where they clarify anything you may not understand, or delve into the subject more.4. Program length and cost:The program I was enrolled in was a 15-month diploma program. (though I think they are condensing it to 12 months now). Before taking this program I already had 3 years of art school from a previous university and college. My family spent a lot of money through those three years (~$30 000 in total, not including any supplies) If I wanted to go to another art school to realise a concept art degree that would have been another 3 full years and about $15 000.With the route I took It still cost $14 900, but the program was done in 15 months, allowing me to move to the UK in between without having to transfer schools or anything. I know this isn’t for everyone, but it did really help me.5. Small class sizes:Because this school is so new, the class sizes are still very small, and that makes it easier to have conversation with your teachers/classmates. In my online meetings there was never more than 3 students for the 1 teacher. More one on one time!!6. They are fully accredited:^ Says it all. You don’t have to worry about being ripped off. They comply with any law/regulation they need to follow. They really do just want what’s best for their students! (They also have in-house courses, so if online isn’t your thing, then definitely have a look into that!)(:
Finally got caught up with Steven Universe! And here’s my gemsona, Tourmaline!
Started my new portfolio, just getting a feel for the characters now. Here's Hansel (and Gretel's face) 🎂🍭🍬🍫 #hanselandgretel #conceptart #portfolio #visdev #hansel #gretel
Hey guys!! So basically I know this may come across as bragging, but I checked my facebook art page and was baffled at the amount of people following me. 1,111 likes. I just can't even right now??? I think I'm dead.
I dyed my hair red so I thought I'd do a new profile pic #myart #redhair #selfie #drawing
