One of the West’s key justifications in recent conflicts has been the need to rescue Muslim women from oppression by their own culture. In April of 2010, Wikileaks released an internal CIA report encouraging NATO allies to appeal to feminist concern for Afghan women’s rights to boost flagging public support for the war. It urged that “Afghan women could serve as ideal messengers in humanizing the ISAF role in combating the Taliban” and suggested “outreach initiatives that create media opportunities for Afghan women to share their stories with French, German, and other European women could help to overcome pervasive skepticism among women in Western Europe toward the ISAF mission.” This document reveals the CIA’s intent to exploit feminist sympathies in the service of war propaganda.

“He who has hope has everything.”
- Arabian Proverb
Holding on to hope and having optimism are revolutionary acts.
How do you kill hope? That’s what has terrified oppressors for so long. They know they never can. They know it is the one thing that will remain immortal. Subversive hope rooted...

Israeli forces manhandle E.U. diplomats, seize West Bank aid
Israeli soldiers manhandled European diplomats on Friday, September 20, 2013 and seized a truck full of tents and emergency aid they had been trying to deliver to Palestinians whose homes were demolished earlier this week.
The diplomats said the Israel Defense Forces manhandled them and stopped them from bringing aid and supplies to Palestinians whose homes in the hamlet of Khirbet Makhoul were demolished on Monday. Meanwhile, the IDF said the attempt to erect the tents was a “provocation,” and that Palestinians attacked the soldiers at the scene.
Khirbet Makhoul was home to about 120 people. The army razed their ramshackle houses, stables and a kindergarten on Monday after Israel’s High Court ruled that they did not have proper building permits. Despite losing their property, the inhabitants have refused to leave the land, where, they say, their families have lived for generations along with their flocks of sheep.

From Egypt to the world:
We will not be silent.
A symbolic photo session I did to send a message in signs in black and white to the rest of the world about what’s happening now in Egypt. The signs and T.shirt are from my friends in the We Will not Be Silent project.
The term ‘Hijab’ carries different meaning to people often depending on their experiences with Hijab or their lack of experience and exposure to Hijab. I just want to point out that I am not writing this piece to explain in detail exactly what the Hijab is in general terms, because modesty is...
There are those at the anti-coup demonstrations who are not supporters of the Ikhwan or fans of Morsi per se, but religious people who are simply furious about the wholesale vilification and cynical marginalization of their faith for political ends. Ikhwan or not, there are Egyptians who are...
