thinking abt how most queer works lack black characters that are in lead roles or very prominent to the story unless it's made specifically by black creators. there are so many stories out there with black leads that i gotta gather some lists but as for now I'm happy that people enjoyed chapter 1 of paws crossed. My character Hitch is very obviously black coded and he's also a gender non conforming transmasc who's fat + disabled. I try to intertwine those aspects of him in a way that feels natural and reflects real folks like him(and myself) while also giving him a sense of personalized fashion and autonomy. he's also very bubbly cuz I feel like black characters should be depicted with happiness.
Two trans girls brutally murdered in the span of a week but they're doing "hypervisibility" discourse on twitter. Feeling real privileged by my "hypervisibility" rn
Her family using her deadname in her funeral, articles calling a "transgender individual" instead of a woman, only refering to her with they they they them this person, can we kill everyone yet or nah
Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.
Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day
If you’re abled please reblog it cause like…the more ppl knows the better
Reblogging to boost signal
(Also, people who use wheelchairs are not the only people who have problems with stairs - anyone who’s using a cane, or crutches, or who just has dodgy knees is gonna wish you had access to a lift, a ramp, or some other place to meet).
we're not ever gonna make this website a safe space for black people or have a substantial black user base anymore unless y'all (non blacks obv) come to grips with the fact that y'all hold internal biases whether some of y'all be blatantly racist and hide behind your disabilities/mental illnesses queerness/transness or it's something as simple as if you see a black face on your dash you immediately swipe up
“We gotta make sure those…black and Hispanic trans women don’t…hog all the attention. What are we protecting the dolls from? I don’t know? I hate racialized trans women too much to consider.”
That the thought “hey maybe this slogan calling for the protection of racialized trans women exists because they are both particularly vulnerable and often left to defend themselves” never occurs is telling.
There’s an escalation from denying the way trans women broadly are more victimized to specifying racialized trans women and STILL denying the way they are more victimized.
wow that's wonderful news im glad that a trans woman is getting to join a women's soccer tea-
...oh
how the fuck is this worth celebrating, this trans guy medically detransitions to go play for the women's team while trans women are still fully banned from playing. and wow *he* gets to feel safe and included in the women's team but fuck any trans women who want to join.
mitchfestian twerfs alive and well (sadly)
I have grown to realize a lot of you severely underestimate just how much antiblackness we have to swallow for the sake of our personal peace and our livelihoods. I'm not saying that to be mean or to make you go into a guilt spiral- that would be a useless reaction anyway- but I do want you to consider it. That what you believe to be peace is not just because it "is".
"Well if it was important why didn't anyone say it sooner?" "if it was important, why didn't they say it was racist?" peer, a good 75-80% of what I might say to the white and/or nonblack people that offend me directly goes swallowed for the sake of my paychecks and running water, or God forbid to avoid a bullet. Or if I'm online (where that number shrinks significantly), to be left the fuck alone 🤣
Y'all are very used to not having to hear that feedback bc we've been forcibly socialized into accepting that you won't take it well and often have the power to make it not worth our while to speak. Retaliation is common. That's why it's perturbing to folks when Black people DO speak up. Interrupts the status quo 😅
This page explores our cultural assumption that I or we (or the ones in formal and informal power) have a right to comfort, which means we
Some kr artist made a webcomic about a white slave master, and his slaves in the American south……..
Because this is still crazy as hell to me
The black people being colored as ash gray too like this is some layered racism blow up the whole industry
Y'all just better keep the same energy the next time someone is homophobic, transphobic, etc. towards an identity YOU have.
"They said this demeaning slur as a joke" and you better not complain when you get hit with "well that was seven years old, they gave a shit apology for getting caught, and I want to continue to give them money. No I'm not ___phobic! You're overreacting!"
Because if it's good enough a response for Black people, surely it's good enough for the rest of you? Yes? Antiblackness isn't a deal breaker, surely the rest is acceptable? If not, why not?
"this person was transphobic, hasn't been held accountable for it, and everyone's acting like it's okay!"
"well, you're being dramatic. They might have changed. And it happened in secret so it doesn't even affect anything. I, a cis person, accepted their apology! This is an equal response!"
I'm almost 100% certain this has happened and it is Not Okay when it does. But that's the standard we're supposed to hold Black fans to? 😐 Okay.
Not Tumblr erasing my reblog of this or something 😭 anyway. It's not even about the stupid show to me anymore.
Yall can't keep wondering "How did we get here?" while acting like "small acts" of racism are acceptable. Y'all let that line get crossed and then one day go "I can't believe I never saw this coming!" at a potential escalation of bigotry. You did see it. You just didn't care because it "wasn't serious", because it "didn't affect you".
Okay.
As always, I hope the jaguar eating faces party is having a wonderful time; I hope your faces are worth it.
can at least a few of you stop using "trans woman" to mean "everyone tma in general". can you please stop reblogging posts that do this. trans women, can you please for once try to talk about transmisogyny in a way that doesn't suggest you are a more important victim of it just because you call yourself a woman and i don't. can you please stop assuming you are the protagonist among the transmisogynized. do i really have to misgender myself in order to have a voice worth listening to about the oppression that i'm subjected to just as much as you.
This is literally why TMA is a word!!!
"mtf" and "amab" voted worst acronyms of all time
we don't need "leftist" ways of calling trans women male actually
you can say trans woman. you can just say trans woman
people will criticize tme/tma calling it "the new gender binary" and then go around calling people amab and afab as if they just ran a find and replace in their vocabulary for "male" and "female"
"sex is what's in your chromosomes" is not a neutral statement. that's one of the main reductive oversimplifications that the right have been pushing about sex for years. sex is a combination of physical characteristics, many of which can be changed or removed in the process of medical transition. I cannot wrap my head around why other trans people are so happy to uphold regressive binaristic thinking like this
The weird thing about "sex is chromosomes" (apart from being reductive, binaristic, and generally not true) is that this isn't how it has ever worked operationally. We don't check someone's chromosomes in order to assign either sex or gender. It's wrong as biology and it's wrong as sociology. That is not how our culture does it.
I don't know what chromosomes I have. Haven't seen 'em. So far as I know, neither has anyone else.
If I died 5 years ago, my parents would have buried a son. It wouldn't have been my name on my tombstone. Who would have grieved for me? Who would have looked at the tombstone of that boy and wept for the woman that was buried beneath that ground?
It wouldn't have been my mom. Not my father. It wouldn't have been my brothers. I doubt my now ex even would have grieved for the real me. A handful of souls would have grieved for the woman that they lost, while a service was held for a dead boy in a suit.
The world would never have known me.
They say there are three deaths. When your body ceases to function, when you're consigned to the grave, and when your name is spoken for the last time. What if your name is never spoken? What of the woman who never heard her name spoken from another set of lips?
I see you, nameless ones. I may never be able to speak your name, for I do not know it, but I will grieve for you. You will not be forgotten for as long as I have tears to shed.
‘Trans Men Have Male Privilege’ =/= ‘Trans Men have the same exact privileges as Cis Men and are treated as such’
“But society doesn’t recognize them as-”
that’s lacking cis privilege

!!!SAVE JAMES BROADNAX FROM IMPENDING EXECUTION in 4 DAYS!!
James Broadnax is a young man who was sentenced to death for the shooting deaths of two people during an armed robbery, in 2008, when he was 19 years old. He had no true part in their deaths.
The true culprit, Demarius Cummings, has already admitted that he was the person that killed those people, and is currently serving life without parole.
Broadnax has spent 2 decades on death row already, and even though he did not kill the victims, he is very remorseful over their deaths. He has since taught classes on deescalation between prisoners and staff while incarcerated. Even if he hadn't transformed, he does not deserve to die in such a cruel manner. But the state is trying to execute him for a crime he didn't truly commit Learn more about him here!.
Here's what you can do!

"conservatives want us ALL dead" yes, and the wolf will kill both a fox and a hare given the chance, but i wouldn't blame the hare for being wary of the fox as well
