HOW TO EDIT THIS PHOTO
Hey there! Thanks so much for stopping by. In this post I'll be showing you how to create my LD8 preset and edit this picture from the RAW file to the point where I post it on Instagram.
1) Starting off with the basics, I like bring down the highlights and whites, and bring up the shadows and blacks. This just allows for more detail to be visible in the shot. We will compensate for this 'flatness' of the photo with the tone curve. When editing landscapes I also like to bring up the vibrance level in order to pull out all the tones of the shot.
I then made a quick exposure adjustment to the foreground of the shot as I thought that it drew a bit too much attention away from the main focus of the mountain. This tool can be found just below the histogram. Its the rectangular looking one.
Moving onto the tone curve, this is where the image really comes to life! A slight S curve is formed to bring down the shadows and brighten the highlights. In order to achieve this look make sure to adjust the individual RGB channels in a simalr fashion.
Going into the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Luminance) adjustments, this all jus comes down to personal preference really but here's a look at the settings I used for this picture. Sometimes, as with this case, I like to turn all the greens into an orange tone that contasts nicely with any blues in the shot.
Standard to many of my shots is the blue/orange split tone applying it t the highlights and shadows respectively.

Further adjustments include Detail, Grain, Lens correction and Camera calibration. Again, these are all just preferences which may contribute to your style. I like to add grain to some of my shots to retain that natural film look but many landscape shots tend not to have any grain at all.
