Confusion || Lightning and Unicorn
He glanced down at the book as it fell and studied the otherâs face for a moment. He did not know, but he would guess that this Lokiâs brother was not in his life anymore, or at least right now. There was a spark of recognition in his eyes, but not familiarity. There was no welcome in his expression, no softening in the harsh lines of his face. He was much how Liege had been when they had met again.
"My brother asked me to come by," he said, mindful of his tone. "I did not know anyone wouldâ" But he faltered and his eyes widened.  Husband?? Had he really just said that?? Liege was m a r r i e dand hadnât told him??Â
He stood in silence for a moment and then sighed. âLokiâŠâ he muttered under his breath, sighing in annoyance and mild impatience. He should have seen this coming. âHe did not tell me why he wanted me here. I can only assume now that it was so that we could meet. He has not yet mentioned you to meâŠ.perhaps he did not want to put so much weight on my shoulders at once. First he appears after twenty years and wants me back for some likely ill-conceived reason. It seems I was also in exile for my only brotherâs wedding.â He tried to hide that minuscule amount of bitterness that showed through in his tone.
He paused, a small smile appearing on his face in his sudden amusement. âI have always loved my brother more than any living creature in all of timeâŠ.I see now that we both have similar taste.â He chuckled and inclined his head in a soft apology. âI did not expect my brother to be married at all, let alone to himself. But if that is what brings him happiness, that is all that truly matters.â
He sighed again and shook his head. âI will leave if you do not wish me here. My brother should not have thrust this on you, as you clearly did not know of my coming either. ThoughâŠâ He paused. âIn a way, you are my brother now alsoâŠ. I would know you if you would allow it.â
So this Thor, Liegeâs own brother, had not been informed that his Loki was married. Interesting. Yet another thing to speak to Liege about when he returned home, whenever that was. Part of Unicorn thought maybe his love had left just so the two of them could meet. Sneaky little devil.
Frankly, Loki had still been under the assumption that this Thor was banished. He had not realized he and Liege had âmade upâ. âI did not expect you two to suddenly be close again,â he quipped in response, mouth set into a deep line. He had to mentally remind himself again and again that this was not his Thor and, therefore, being rude was, well, rude. It wasnât as though his own Thor was a terrible being, he was just irksome and annoying, especially since Frigga had told him that the Sly One was still alive after heâd specifically told her not to tell anyone else.
"Fine, fine, you can stay," he sighed, stooping down to pick up the book heâd so carelessly dropped. "But you are not allowed to call me brother. Brother-in-law is fine, but not brother." Silently, he turned, replacing the book on a nearby bookshelf nestled beside the tv stand. "So if you did not realize he was married, then I guess you are unaware that we have children together, too. Two, to be specific. One girl and one boy, the latter being only a few weeks old. Suppose itâd be nice to inform you that you are an uncle."
"We are....not," he said quietly. He dug at the skin on his thumb with his first two fingernails, avoiding his brother-in-law's gaze for a moment. "He came to me on Vanaheimr and told me I was permitted to return. He then told me how I might come here. That was all he said. He offered nothing by way of explanation.... I do not know his reason for finding me after all this time. I spent twenty years wondering why he sent me away only to wonder now why he wishes me back again."
Thor shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. "I do not pretend to understand my brother anymore. I wish to, but he is.....secretive with me."
He nodded, making a mental note of that. Part of him wondered what had happened to this man's brother, but he figured it was better not to ask.
His eyes widened again at the news of children. He almost corrected the other - he had been an uncle for a very long time, but most did not remember it any longer - but he refrained. "I......Oh, I see. Congratulations," he said, smiling as best he could. It wasn't that he wasn't happy about this news, in truth he was thrilled. All of this was proving to be overwhelming for him; he had thought it overwhelming enough to return at all and now this had come with it.  "What are their names..?"
Family Ties || Thor & Fenrir
Fenrir was never surprised when he found the home empty, nor when there seemed an over abundance of ravens outside. Nor, honestly, when anything weird happened. That was their life. He was surprised, however, to find someone waiting outside. Mostly because only a handful of people knew how to locate the house and were able to or allowed to get through all the magical barriers Unicorn had set up. Of course, that meant that the fact he recognized the strangerâs scent wasnât horribly odd. Fenrir couldnât place it immediately, but in the two seconds it took for him to remember, the blond had turned around.
âFuck,â the obscenity slipped from his mouth in shock, which almost immediately shifted to rage. Fenrirâs entire body quivered, but he bit back the desire to shift back to his natural form and instead lunged, shoving the Aesir up against the door. Fortunately, Unicorn had long since reinforced it so the door managed not to splinter under the sudden force.
"What the Hel are you doing here, Odinson?â Fenrir snarled, an arm braced against Thorâs chest and hand around his throat, unsure how long the hold would last against his uncleâs strength. Fenrirâs teeth were exposed, lips pulled back in a very wolfish gesture as he snarled, low and threatening. âCome to rid the realms of the most recent children of Loki? Following in your fatherâs footsteps, are you?â
Quite the greeting, indeed.Â
Thor's guard had been down and he hadn't seen it coming. He hadn't been paying attention, or he could have heard the curse, would have seen the stranger lunge at him. Instead, he was slammed in to the door and the breath knocked from his lungs. Even in this state he might have fought him off, but he did not wish to.Â
In place of a full-on return attack, he grabbed his wrist and pulled it away from his throat, coughing until he could speak. "Who the Hel are you??" he managed to growl, his confusion getting the best of him. Instinct told him to strike, but he wanted answers first. He pushed back against the other, forcing distance between them.
"I am here to see my brother, nothing more! He asked me to come. I would never hurt my brother's children!" he growled. He didn't question how the stranger knew him - his face was not wholly unknown by those who knew of Loki. "I am not of Asgard now." That much was clear by his appearance - he looked to be more at home in the woods than he would in the golden halls of the palace. Nothing about him was shining now except for the anger in his eyes. "State your business here or with me. I've done you no harm."
//did either of you still want to plot and start this idea we had, it looks like weâre all on so we can actually smooth out the few details we need to
//yeah definitely~ I'm on skype and so is Liege if you're on (I'm hiding XD)
Arranged Marriage AU || Closed (Loki & Thor)
The prince smiled, pleased that Thor wouldnât be leaving him alone. It was so strange, how Loki was finding comfort in an Aesir, a people who used to make him positively irate. Well â  that hadnât entirely changed. Loki still held a distate for the Aesir, butâŠnot for Thor. Not anymore. In time, heâd likely learn to accept the others, but for nowâŠ
The knock at the door made the prince stiffen, and he curled his face into Thorâs chest, afraid. He smelled the food when it was wheeled in, and decided to chance a glance at the ones whoâd brought it.
He could /feel/ the distaste in their stares. It made him wince, and then look at his hands, which were folded in his lap. Thor thought him beautiful, and yet these other Aesir clearly did not.Â
He didnât look back at the Aesir, and he didnât utter a word. He felt bad for putting Thor in such a position, as well â surely, they did not take well to seeing their prince holding a Jotunn in the way he was.Â
He gave a slow nod when asked if he was hungry. âYes,â he murmured softly, pulling on a loose thread at the end of the sleeve of his sleepshirt.
Thor saw the distress in Loki's face and frowned slightly. He gently cupped the other's cheek and turned his face back upwards again. "My prince," he said gently, "ignore them. Ignore their stares. They will learn soon enough or I will see fit to teach them. You are to be their queen. I will not tolerate disrespect. I will speak with them tomorrow morn and correct their behavior." He hesitated before kissing Loki's forehead gently. It seemed so difficult to do and so very, very wrong - he'd just kissed a jötunn! - but he forced that feeling away.Â
"Jötunn you may be," he said softly, as much for himself as for Loki, "but you are my Jötunn now. It will take time for me to find affection for your home and for your people....but I am willing to start with you."
He kissed his hair and very gently set Loki down on the bed at his side. He rose and moved across the room to pull the cart over to the bed, then took his place beside Loki again. He slid his arm around the other's waist and found it to be less difficult than it had been before.Â
"Eat, my friend. You will feel better."
"I have changed"
"So have I"

Thor had been asleep when he felt something stirring at his side. He woke, rubbing his eyes with his small fists, pushing the sleep from his eyes. It took him a moment to realize what had woken him.
He heard a soft whimper coming from under the covers near his left hip. There was a large mound under the covers where nothing had been when he'd gone to sleep.
"Loki...?"Â
He saw the lump move as his little brother nodded. Thor knew he had likely had a nightmare and run, terrified, to his brother's room to seek shelter from the terrors of his own mind.
Thor reached under the covers and pulled the smaller boy in to his arms. Loki reacted instantly and curled in to his brother's chest, tears streaming down his face, his nose running even as he tried to sniff it away.Â
"Don't cry, my treasure," Thor whispered, soothing his hand over Loki's little shoulders. His brother had always been smaller, but he seemed even more so now that Thor was beginning to grow. Soon, they wouldn't be children anymore.
Loki hiccuped and peeked out from the covers, his eyes red-rimmed and puffy with crying. He whimpered and wiped his eyes on his sleeve.
"W....Why do you....c-call me that, Thor?" he whispered through the dark, his small voice wavering slightly.Â
The elder brother smiled and leaned down to kiss Loki's forehead as their mother so often did when one of them cried.
"Because," he said, his voice dropping down to a conspiratorial whisper, "of all the treasures in all of Asgard, you mean the most to me. You are worth more than all of them."
Loki smiled, tiny and fragile, through his tears. "R-really...?" he breathed.
Thor nodded. "Of course!" he said warmly and hugged his baby brother to him. "I love you, Loki. No more tears, mmk? You're safe with me."
Loki nodded and laid his head on Thor's chest, his eyes closing. He took several deep breaths and did his best to relax. Thor smoothed his hand over the other's back, moving his hand in small circles between his shoulder-blades in an attempt to further calm him.
"You're my brother forever, right Thor?"
"That's right!" Thor smiled and nuzzled against the smaller prince's dark hair. "Always and forever. You will always be my treasure."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thor woke with a start and sat up in bed, his eyes wide as he scanned the dark. His fingers twitched and he thought for a moment to call Mjolnir, but the darkness was still. Nothing was there.
He laid back and stared at the ceiling. He hadn't slept much lately, not since New York. How could he?Â
Every time he slept, he dreamt of the same thing over and over again. The same noise haunted his mind, echoing in his ears every time silence fell over the realm.
That same sniffling, crying, whimpering voice he had always been there to comfort now haunted his steps and twisted the shadows in to something to be feared.Â
He turned his head and looked at the empty space beside him, his hand falling over the blank mattress at his side.Â
There was no one to comfort, there were no tears to dry - none within his reach, anyway.
Loki was gone from him, lost in the depths of his own mind, drowning in darkness that Thor could not begin to fathom.
Thor pressed his face in to his pillow and tried to tell himself he was imaging the damp cloth beneath his face.Â
Just as he was not there to comfort Loki, Loki was likewise no longer there to comfort him. No words were spoken, no murmured promises of protection and eternity. There was no one there to wrap his arms around in a desperate attempt to remind himself that he still had something to hold on to.
Don't cry my treasure...
But no one was there to say it this time.Â

~Frigga & Loki~ A Motherâs Love for Her Child
Arranged Marriage AU || Closed (Loki & Thor)
The smile that crept on to Lokiâs face was sweet and innocent, and a touch bashful. Thor thought him beautiful â why did that please him so? His delight at hearing that was clear in his eyes, which looked up at Thor and locked on the Aesirâs blues.
He rested his head against Thorâs chest and let out a quiet sigh. âI believe you,â he murmured honestly as he almost snuggled into Thor.
"I do not wish to sleep alone tonight." The words were out before he could stop them. He didnât bother to try and take them back, though; it was the truth. For some reason, Thorâs presence and steady voice and warm skin comforted the Jotunn, and relaxed him. All this, from an AesirâŠnever would Loki have dreamed of sleeping in the same bed as an Aesir, and certainly not the prince. But Thor was not at all what Loki had thought him to beâŠ
He was even mildly attractive â perhaps more than mildly.
"IfâŠif I could please share your bed tonight," he murmured. "I donât want to sleep alone. I ââŠit is different here, at night. I amâŠscared."
Thor smiled at Loki in return - how could he not? The look on his face was infectious. And his eyes....he realized with a start that he was getting lost in them without realizing it. He looked away, embarrassed, and pulled Loki closer to him still. The other seemed to have no objection to this, as he only curled up more tightly in the thunderer's embrace. Thor brushed his hand over Loki's dark hair, feeling it run smoothly under his fingers.Â
He was surprised to hear that Loki thought Asgard was frightening at night - moreso than in the day, it seemed. But he knew he would be frightened on Jötunheimr....It was still hard to imagine anyone being comfortable there. He had to try to remember not to think like that, but it was hard. That land seemed distant and cold and frightening. Was that how Loki saw Asgard? Probably. No one had shown him anything to the contrary since he'd arrived.
"Of course," he said quietly. "Whether you wish me to remain here with you or would go to my chambers with me, it is of little consequence. I will not leave you tonight if you do not wish it."
He was about to say something else, but was interrupted by a knock on the door before he could put the words together in his mind. He was confused - who would call on Loki at this hour? - but then he remembered the food. Not wishing to move, he called out for them to enter.Â
Two servants came in, one carrying a tray laden with hot food, the other carrying a jug of ale. They seemed uncomfortable, not put much at ease by their prince's presence. Thor knew he would hear of his closeness to Loki later, but that was not important now. He instructed them to put the food on a side table and thanked them before ordering them out. They seemed hesitant to leave Thor alone with Loki, but they knew better than to cross him and so they left.
He turned to the jötunn, smiling again. "Are you still hungry, little prince?"
Reblog if you have a scar with a story behind it.
How can I possibly be so tired this early in the day?

Changing my theme again. This one just isn't doing it for me.
I am never happy with Lightning's theme. God damn XD
Apologies to anyone who happens to see it while it's under construction.
Disillusionment
Banished.
Thor was banished again by the man he'd spent his whole life calling his brother. First he was sent away from his home, the Realm Eternal in which they'd grown up. And now Midgard was taken from his as well.Â
He had fought so hard. He'd battled every pain, every weakness he'd ever known. He'd given it everything he had in him.Â
All for  n o t h i n g.
That which he treasured above all things was lost to him.
Loki was gone.
