“That is very correct. We do never know. The things in the charity are lovely though, from what I’ve seen.” The warrior stated. Giving the other a slight smile, she shrugged her shoulders. “Oh, thank you. It’s most definitely not one of my best, that’s for sure.”

“I have yet had a chance to look at the items we’ll be bidding on tonight, although I trust they are of some importance, several should be rarities.” Looking over her dress again. “The exact same could be said for me and this, though almost everything I own looks like this.”

“Sounds like you’re going to have a long day,” he crossed his arms, “I’m Barry Allen by the way.” He was intrigued by the woman’s choice of beverage for the day. She seemed composed and stern, the kind of woman who knew exactly what her fate was and would stare death right in the eye without flinching. Barry felt sorry for anyone who dared cross her, standing next to her alone had him frozen in place. “Well, I have yet to choose what to order for the day. Do you have any suggestions?” He asked the woman.

“Every day is a long day, Mr. Allen.” She was ready to move away but then he kept on talking. Turning back to face him, her eyes went over the menu. “I would recommend for you, a Mocha Latter with a shot of Expresso.” Folding her arms over her chest. “Amanda Waller.”

June nodded though she couldn’t help but feel if something went wrong then she would be as much to blame as the Enchantress. As Amanda spoke, June looked around. She didn’t know what she was expecting to see but she at least wondered who were they. What did they look like? Was Amanda out for recruitment maybe? “Anyone you are on the lookout for? Seems like a ripe opportunity.”

“Not anyone specific, just any Meta I can spot.” She gave her a slight grin. “Besides tonight isn’t a recruiting night. Oh no, it’s getting intel. As much as we can into personal lives, and about their so called secret identities.”

“I see. You never know though, right? Perhaps you will.” She spoke, shrugging her shoulders slightly at the other womans statement.·“You’re very correct, yes. The more money the better.·“ The woman spoke.·“Lovely outfit by the way.”·

“You never know. Perhaps I will. I could always use new office decorations.” Looking down at her outfit, Waller had merely thrown this on. “Thank you, you outfit is quite charming yourself.”

June looked down at the ground as Amanda spoke. She understood what she was about but she still felt odd about being spoken about like a weapon. “Believe me, I wish I could promise you results.” She admitted. She was not going to try and make excuses or false promises. She didn’t know what she was going to do. “Do you think there will be any here?” June had to admit, she was curious about what was out there and Amanda seemed to have everything and everyone on a plug.

The Enchantress was unpredictable, but Waller was certain she could be controlled if she was rewarded well enough. Treat the ancient being with respect when it was around, make it trust Waller. “You don’t have to promise results, she does.” Looking around the room at June’s next question. “Oh they are here alright. And I wouldn’t be surprised if more arrived.”

     That seemed to draw a reaction from the fierce woman, Iris noted. “I don’t doubt that – especially if his only intentions are to bring about chaos and destruction. Doesn’t seem to end well with guys like, say, the Flash around, right?” She smiled then, something with a touch of fondness, more to herself than Miss Waller – before sobering and tucking some loose hair behind her ear, straightening up. “You’re right, of course, and I don’t mean to rehash anything, but if this Gamemaker were to succeed, does the government have a specific plan in mind to defend the people? Or should we trust in the work of the Justice League, is it?”

“No, it doesn’t seem to end well for them. We have the Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman and his whole Bat Family. Every day more and more of these Metas are coming from the shadows, some good and some bad. But with the good people feel safer.” Seeing her smile at the mention of the Flash, Waller wondered how well the woman knew him, or if it was just some admiration for a boy who ran around in a red suit. Waller couldn’t grasp why some people only admired these Metas without realizing both their potential and how big of a threat they were. “If the Gamemaker were to succeed, your Government has contingency plans. This Justice League in shape, place or form reduces or replaces the Governments responsibility to protect and serve the people. Remember the government is still the true deliverer of Justice. This League can put all the justice in their name, but that doesn’t mean they takeover as court and jury or executioner.”

“I can pass along your number, if you’d like. He’s always open to meeting people on the same side as him,” Barbara said simply before nodding. “That’s what my dad always says, though he’s usually more prone to using fighting. I guess that’s the police officer in him. Me? Diplomacy first, always.” She paused, smiling. “I guess people don’t really realize how much he does because they’re too busy wondering who he’s sleeping with,” she laughed, letting that slip but ignoring it. “I guess I never really knew what I wanted. My dad was pushing me towards the law enforcement/politics direction because he wanted that for me, but it was never my thing.”

“I am afraid my number is listed under confidential. However should I need to contact Commissioner Gordan, I can find his number.” Folding her arms over her chest. “I believe that violence should only be used when friendship, an alliance, neutral relationship  or even control over something is impossible. That it’s only a last resort. Though it should always be on the table.” Nodding, Waller had more then enough tabs on Mr. Wayne. The government tried it’s best when watching people who have too much money, for their own good. Especially after Luthor turned out to be insane. “People will forget your positives for the slightest scandal.” Nodding. “We can only follow what we want. I did just that. And you apparently are doing just that as well, with your computer science.”

That was a new feeling, she was oozing intimidation. Something Bart wasn’t expecting when he handed her phone back. The air around her was tense that he could probably cut through it if he wanted to but he wouldn’t get near her personal bubble for anything. He wasn’t sure what it was that made him nervous but he was sure it had to do with her eyes. And he voice but he needed to stop thinking about it and drown her out with his politeness. “Sorry ma’am.” Golden eyes examined her a moment before he spoke again, “I promise to be more attentive.” Bart had no idea yet how to best deal with people who weren’t recessive to his behavior or at least polite enough to be.

“Good.” Her eyes were still narrow, and her voice was icy enough to give the likes of Mr. Freeze and Killer Frost a chill. She could read that he was nervous, and Waller could use that to her advantage. “You wouldn’t want any trouble in the future now would you?” Looking down the alley, and then back at him. “That’s an unusual jogging path you take, do you always go running in shady alleys? That’s a good way to get mugged.”

The air was cool and it seemed to seep down into your bones like small icicles. It was mid-January and reports said that it wasn’t going to get warmer anytime soon in Central City. For Barry, it was an odd change from the average hot and sunny weather that the city was known for, so the sudden shift felt strange. So far he had been in his usual happy mood, however, his energy starting off the day had been depleted from the night before at the station. 

After making his way through the busy streets of City Center, near the Flash Museum, the street corner coffee shop, Jitters, caught his eye. Opening the door, an assortment of aromas had bombarded his senses and he sauntered over to the line leading to the register, with his mind scrambling for what he would order.

“So many choices, it’s hard to choose what to get. I have no idea what to get for today, what about you?” He smiled, asking the person in front of him, trying to strike up a conversation.

Normally Waller sent someone to do mundane tasks, such as get her coffee. However, with all these events going on Waller’s assistant was too busy running files, and following leads. So there she was in line getting a coffee, when someone behind her starting talking to her. Great, she would now have to make conversation with someone who was worth nothing to her. 

“I know exactly what I want. A regular coffee, served black. I find the flavor diluted with milk, sugar, and cream.”

Lights. Camera. Fashion [01-24] Open

If there was one thing that Lucy knew when stepping into the Queen Industries building, for the charity fashion show, it was that she would be walking out with tomorrow’s front page news story. It was the first assignment Cat had given her that wasn’t in National City and she was determined on getting some action from the event. “I need a story that’ll knock the Daily Planet into last week’s headline and what better way to do that than at the Queen Industries Charity Fashion Show?” Cat asked her. She recalled just how much Cat had loathed the Daily Planet and how Lucy reminded her of their star reporter, her sister.

After maneuvering through the crowd, as security herded people into the main hall like a bunch of cattle, she caught sight of an empty seat and claimed it before anyone came by. “So, you thinking of getting anything from the lineup?” She said to the person next to her while checking her phone for any texts from Jimmy or Kara.

Waller had been sitting there waiting for the show to begin, when someone claimed a seat next to her. When they started talking, she calmly turned her head. “It depends if they have anything of my taste tonight. I doubt it though.” Turning her head back towards where the show would be. “Why do you plan on getting anything?”

The wind was blowing through his hair as he ran through the city, he could feel the city just brush by him as he pushed himself forward. At first he went thought the streets for a moment kind of enjoying the feeling of moving past them but eventually he decided it was probably a bad idea if and when he wanted to stop. If people report red flashes he was worried he might be spotted so he took a few back roads and decided to pop out an Alley way like nothing happened. However as he was coming out of an alley way he didn’t notice someone was there. He kinda startled them he guessed as he was slowing down to look as though he jogged out of the alley way. But he was still kind of going faster then normal.

The person he startled had something in their hand which they dropped due to Bart, he quickly grabbed that and appeared behind the other handing them their phone. “Uh whoops, my bad. Here you go.” And once they took their item then he would go.

Waller had been walking to where her car had been brought around the building she was exiting, when out from an alley a person appeared, as if from no where. It caused her to drop her phone, which she had currently been looking at files on Metas. Hearing the person talk, and seeing them hold said phone, she quickly snatched it out of the boys hand, and put it in her jacket pocket. Narrowing her eyes, “Watch where you’re going next time. Or else it’ll get you in serious trouble.” She was still suspicious, he was going too fast for her taste, and nobody ever had the ability to sneak up on her before.

“I have to agree. It’s a true blessing that people do things like this.” The woman agreed, moving to cross her arms over her chest. With a shrug, she gave the woman a polite smile. “Very much so, yes. Do you plan on bidding for anything on the auction?”

“Perhaps one or two things. I don’t know if I plan on coming home with any of it, however.” Waller switched the glass into her other hand. “However the more money raised the better for everyone.”

     “Of course,” Iris agreed, nodding her head towards the woman. It was all very – quotable. As inspired as she was, Iris still had half a mind to feel more than a little intimidated, and as it was, she wasn’t sure prying into the other woman’s business would end particularly well – but that was her job, wasn’t it? “I just have one or two more questions, if that’s alright – what’s your opinion on that man who calls himself the Gamemaker and his implied plans to assemble a team parallel to the likes of Batman and Wonder Woman? Do you think the rest of the week’s events are really safe to attend while he’s still out there?”

The Gamemaker, what a ridiculous name. There was only one Gamemaker and that was Waller. Her expression hardened. “I assure you, this Gamemaker is a joke.  He won’t come anywhere near the possibilities of forming this team. “ Truth be told Waller was planning her own team parallel to the Justice League. The difference? She’d actually succeed. “I believe the events are entirely safe. As I said we do not shrink, but rise together. To give in to his threats, his attacks is giving him exactly what he wants.”

June had to admit that Amanda had a point. She always did, whether she liked it or not. It was probably what made her so determined if not ruthless. She folded her arms as she listened to the explanation. “I think having…her around would be an overkill. Besides, she doesn’t exactly like taking orders and has a tendency to start having her own version of fun.” June muttered back, her eyes looking around at the present company. “Do you?” She had to ask her what the truth was.

Looking at June, Amanda’s expression didn’t change. “You call it overkill, I call it a show of mine and A.R.G.U.S.’ power.” Resting her hands on her chest. “She may not like taking orders, but she will take them if she knows what is good for her. Six thousand years old or not, I am her superior officer. Besides if she follows orders, she can have all the fun she wants with our enemies.” When she asked the question Waller leaned in a little “We live in a day and age where it will be metahuman fighting metahuman. Ours, mine verses their’s. The metahumans have more potential, possibilities and far better assets. One of them is worth hundreds of people.”

     Iris knew the woman before her was a politician – and not just that, but an extremely accomplished one. She also knew that politicians often lied, or twisted the truth, that they were some of the most guarded and careful people when it came to their words, but it seemed like Amanda Waller spoke with such conviction that she couldn’t help but believe her. “I believe it, and we’re very lucky people to have you included in that government. And wow – I love that, that’s really beautiful, Miss Waller,” She replied kindly, her smile brightening at that last quote. “So I take it that means you’ll be bidding on something tonight? Or if not, possibly making an appearance at the run later this week?”

“Thank you, but I am simply speaking from the heart.” Placing her hand over her heart. “It is my honor and privilege to serve the government that serves the people.” Nodding. “I do plan on bidding on one or two things tonight, and I, of course will be at the run later this week. I wouldn’t miss it at all.”

“Please, you should hear my dad when I bring up the safety of the world compared to America. You and him would get along,” Barbara chuckled before shaking her head. “And see, this is where things get tough; do we fight every life form that comes in, or do we use diplomacy.” Barbara laughed. “Bruce is one of the most generous people I know, no matter how cold he seems on the outside. Well I’m pretty close with all of them, but Dick and I have been attached at the hip since we were nine.” She paused. “You know I almost majored in PoliSci, but then I took a coding 101 class my second semester and I fell in love.”

“Meeting your father would be an immense pleasure.” Raising a hand to her chin in a thoughtful manner. “Of course you approach everyone with one hand open, and the other, well in the other you hold a big gun. Always try diplomacy, but be prepared to fight.” Nodding. “Bruce Wayne does do a lot for charity from what I hear and see. He also from what I understand do a lot for the poor, and those who are left orphaned.” Placing her empty glass on another tray. “That is college for a lot of people. Going in planning to do one thing, and leaving doing another. I happened to not be one of those people. When I set my mind to something, I often don’t change it, and I don’t give up.”

“I don’t think so,” Barbara shook her head. “And honestly, it’s not just about America’s safety anymore, it’s about the world. I mean, we’ve seen it; there are other life forms out there, and who knows how many. With dedicated people like the vigilante’s and the heroes, we might just be able to protect ourselves.” She paused at Waller’s question. “I guess so,” she nodded. “Him and my dad are really good friends and I’m super close with his son, so yeah. Bruce and I are close.” Barbara took another sip. “Gotham University. I’m earning my masters in computer science.”

“I hope you can forgive my bias nature, but in my eyes America’s safety always comes first. Although that is part of my job.” Nodding. “There are life forms out there, and we are going to need all the help we can get to keep those other life forms from completely wiping us out.” Giving her the faintest smile. “Which one of his sons? I hear he adopts boys faster then rabbits breed them.” Nodding a second time. “Gotham University and your masters in computer science? Good for you. Education is our second greatest weapon. I myself have a doctorate in political science.”
