something i really liked about project hail mary is that Rocky and Grace are both equally out of their depth and about as competent as the other. theyre both the smart one. theyre both total dumbasses. neither knows whats going on. they both think the other is an idiot baby. they both admire the other's intelligence so much.

If Grace could not fully get out of teacher mode even after being in a coma for years (the Rocky my hand is up scene), I can not even think how much worse it would get after he actually takes up teaching again at Erid.

I can imagine Grace, still in that "has been teaching for five hours" haze, trying to have a conversation with Rocky like:

"That's a great answer, buddy, you have earned yourself a sticker... Oh shoot Rocky I'm so so..."

"Yes, yes, Grace very sorry for speaking to Rocky like child, Grace brain thinks Grace still in classroom, apology accepted now where is my sticker question"

Exciting announcement - to be published simultaneously in English and Japanese (19th August), an official guide for Witch Hat Atelier! "Archives of Witch Hat Atelier" will include exclusive illustrations, lore notes on elements from the manga, and even a commentary on chapter 1! Shirahama is reportedly self publishing this and there's currently a preorder discount until the 18th of August.

It can be preordered here, and you can also snag some wallpaper downloads while you're at it.

As the release is a PDF rather than a print copy I will not be mirroring this in the archive until there is no longer an option to purchase it - i.e. I will treat it like a special edition artbook. I'll add the purchase location to the text parts of the archive so it can be located in future.

i think part of what makes the main trio from deltarune so compelling to me is that they all see themself as the weak link in the group. like

kris: is hyper aware of the fact that they're being possessed by the soul and therefore can't be fully present in their friendships. also probably sees their betrayal of susie and ralsei as inevitable

susie: is completely new to this whole 'friendship and kindness' thing and has no idea if she's doing it right. too used to lashing out at everyone around her defensively and is still adjusting to her choice to help the people around her instead

ralsei: believes that, as a darkner, he is fundamentally inferior to the other two. hyper aware of how he can't help them or even just hang out with them when they're in the light world. also as of ch4 very aware of how his white lies about the prophecy let the other two down

and yet all three of them see the other two as the best thing that's ever happened to them and, by the end of ch4, the only thing making this whole prophecy thing worthwhile. they're willing to look past each others' flaws and see the best in each other bc those are their friends!!! theyre all so abnormal about each other and it makes me insane
