Marta Dyas: english thoroughbred. Basic versatile breed, the second using these kind of horses makes sense to me idk(these are the kind of horses who run races)
Naberius Tern: dutch warmblood. Something proper and valued, versatile but usually trained for one specific thing, the third having these kind of horses also makes sense to me(most of the really famous horses are these)
Jeannemary Chatur: welsh section B. A really witty pony, gets bored easily, quick and agile(if you know someone rich who was winning competitions a lot as a kid, they were probably on a welsh)
Magnus Quinn: Irish cob. These are really pretty and friendly horses, mostly used by adults/children who aren’t really competitive and wanna just have chill fun(these horses aren’t really built for jumping at all, historically used as carriage horses)
Camilla Hect: Quarter. Quick, agile and versatile breed, unusual in english riding(all these other horses are usually ridden english), I think it matches Cam’s untraditional style of fighting(these are the kinda horses that are used for western riding, barrel racing, ranch work)
Protesilaus Ebdoma: Shire. Just a hunk o muscle, literally the world’s biggest horse breed, mostly used as working horses(I think merida’s horse in brave might be one of these?)
Colum Asht: Akhal teke. I think the shiny coats match the eight’s shiny white clothes, i dunno much about the eight or about akhal tekes(these are really light agile horses)
Ortus Nigenad: fjord. Friendly stubborn breed, stocky and somewhat small. These horses are very sure footed as trail horses.(Really popular breed among kids at least here, also extremely cute and sometimes mischievous)
Gideon Nav: Finnhorse. Yes I made the main character a breed very dear to me, shut up. These horses are sure footed, VERY food motivated, usually do the bare minimum, are quite loyal, look like nothing much but will absolutely smoke you in a competition if well trained.(gideon would specifically be the riding line and not trotting or working)(these horses are also very commonly chestnut(=red) so it influenced my decicion)
Questions and discussion greatly appreciated(I love talking about horses)

hello nobody asked but i’m here to deliver. presenting: the cavs as dog breeds. photo sources and caveats after the cut.
Second House: Marta Dyas
UKC-registered German Shepherd, stock coat. A working breed characterized by its focus, confidence, and fearlessness; obedient to a fault. Strong intelligence, drive, and energy, but at manageable levels suited to all-purpose organizational use (unlike their more intense sibling breed, the Belgian Malinois). Dominates in Schutzhund (obedience & personal protection) trials.
Third House: Naberius Tern
UKC-registered Standard Poodle, red coat cut Continental. A breed with a reputation for wealth, beauty, and proud attitude, all of which distracts from its surprising intelligence and steady work ethic. A well-rounded gundog that, given the correct training and handler, dominates at both sporting and conformation events. Intolerant of rugged terrain (highland herding, search and rescue, etc.), though well suited to swimming.
Fourth House: Jeannemary Chatur
AKC-registered Belgian Malinois, mahogany coat. A legendarily intense and capable working breed, with high intelligence, drive, and fitness. With sufficient training to sate its drive for stimulation, becomes a fabulously impressive working dog. When fulfilled, will win obedience, Schutzhund, extreme vertical, and obstacle course competitions. Not well suited to scent work, diving, and herding, and lacks the patience for boring tasks like conformation. With insufficient stimulation or an unconfident handler, becomes a destructive, vocal, nervous wreck; can and will take its frustrations out on others. Benefits from the influence of living with calmer dogs. An AKC-recognized breed, but not UKC recognized; would be a source of strife with handlers that prefer UKC (… Third House).
Fifth House: Magnus Quinn
Show-line UKC-Registered Irish Setter, mahogany coat. The beautiful coat and regal bearing of this breed obfuscates its extremely goofy and friendly nature. Because of its beauty, playful attitude with children, and capability as a gundog, it is a sought-after breed of the wealthy. Working-line setters have higher stamina and intelligence for long days afield; show-line setters are suited to conformation and social settings, and are therefore wonderful family pets.
Sixth House: Camilla Hect
Unregistered Border Collie, lilac short coat. A breed with intense intelligence, focus, and drive; must be put to work constantly by its handler or will resort to self-destructive behaviors and be liable to develop strange obsessions. Movement at work is shockingly fast for its body size and build; does not speak while working, unlike other herding breeds, instead relying on glare-based intimidation. Well suited to rough terrain and independent problem solving. Lilac coat caused by rare recessive genes expressed thru inbreeding; causes grey brown eyes, as well.
Seventh House: Protesilaus Ebdoma
UKC-registered Afghan Hound, cream coat, unmarked. A lithe, long-legged athlete with regal bearing and a beautiful appearance. Independent, aloof, and generally indifferent to instruction, though loyal and affectionate with a single handler; will strongly resist a change in handlers. Whiplike tail.
Eighth House: Colum Asht
UKC-registered Great Pyrenees, white coat, slight tan markings. Unflappably calm; intelligent, but with a tendency towards indifference. A large, stalwart flock guardian that shrugs off being bloodied. Patient and careful with its flock and with children, but vicious against physical threats.
Ninth House: Ortus Nigenad
Black and Tan Coonhound. Large and strong, though without the cleverness of some other working breeds. Excels at scent-tracking over long hours. Highly vocal when bored (and, frankly, at all other times), with a booming voice. Handler focused, but can be very stubborn.
Ninth House: Gideon Nav
Australian Kelpie with red coat, or perhaps Red Heeler—lineage is unclear; genetic testing may reveal dingo ancestry. A vigorous and hardworking herder, with high stamina in rough terrain and harsh weather. Stocky and solidly built. Always eager for a job to do. Not overly affectionate, even with long-term handlers, but intensely loyal. Infrequently vocal; tendency towards shyness and reactivity around strangers and new circumstances. May have light brown (amber) eyes.

Mal: Breed standard website
Setter: Brittanica
BC: C Bar C Ranch, breeder site
Afghan: AKC
Pyr: Intuition Farm, breeder site
Black&Tan: Showsight Magazine
Kelpie: AKC
Heeler: Jane Dogs
Also, some caveats: obviously, I wanted to find an Aotearoa native dog for Gideon. Unfortunately, because of colonialism, all Polynesian dog breeds I could find records of on short notice are extinct due to genocidal violence against their peoples. The history of dog breeds and the pedigrees thereto is one that is, like all history, influenced by colonialism. Also, I am very familiar with a large variety of breeds, but only those primarily used in dog sports, competitions, and working professions in North America. My choices of breed reflect both of those biases.
one thing that annoys me about how the fandom portrays the fourth house is how tiny they always are. Like no!! Jeannemary could very well be fully grown vertically!! They’re 14 and 13!! Not 9 year olds!!
despite that Coronabeth Tridentarius is frequently called the most beautiful out of all tlt characters, it's Camilla Hect who is flirted with the most. multiple characters find her attractive, and Nona, who is literally planet earth (therefore has universal taste) called Corona almost pretty enough for Camilla, which strongly suggests that Camilla Hect is the hottest tlt character. in this essay i will-
It is NOT culty to like TLT this much okay, it should be criminal to interact with media that doesn't make you obsessed with it. Now excusé mwah while I go and do my daily devotions at my Tamsyn Muir shrine
fuck it, i'm curious. reblog and tag with the first fictional death to ever rewrite your brain chemistry and/or make you cry like a baby. mine was ares from the underland chronicles (who, for context, was a giant bat.) to this day i will weep if i think too hard about it. okay, go.
Another great day of feeling extremely secure for someday having to deal with traffix and stuff after my friend(who has been driving for WELL over a year) asks what neutral is…
me to my friends while reading the locked tomb pt2:
”Oooh harrow just said the first nice thing to gideon”
”HEY WHAT THE FUCK”
”HEY IM GONNA START CRYING MAYBE”
”THIS ISNT FUN”
”DID MAGNUS JUST GET KILLED”
”THIS ISNT NICE”
”I DON’T LIKE”
”NO”
”FUCKING SECOND MAGNUS WHOSE DEATH I HAVE READ EXCEPT THIS ONE PROBABLY ISNT GONNA RETURN AS A SOLDIER OF VALHALLA BC THEY DONT HAVE VALHALLA HERE”
”HE FUCKING FELL DOWN A LADDER WITH HIS WIFE AND THEY BOTH DIED”
My friend: ”rookie mistake”
”JSKDNBD”
”Fucking going strong when my fav character is dying and my second fav character FELL DOWN A LADDER AND DIED”
”THEY MAYBE HAD KIDS TOO IM NOT SURE KSNDNFBBDBD”
”OR IDK”
”BUT MAGNUS WAS HANGING OUT WITH SOME KIDS AT SOME POINT”
”if the dying girl also dies then im throwing this at the wall”
”tf harrow had just killed that one guy’s cavalier”
”or well i’m not surprised bc she hated the girl she was protecting”
”But gideon just found his head in harrow’s closet”
me to my friends while reading the locked tomb pt 1:
”Some kid just asked gideon how big her biceps are”
”Going strong when I haven’t got a clue who or from where these characters are”
”Except I know that all of them are in the first house rn, the fifth house cavalier is magnus, the sixth house necromancer is coronabeth(…) and that gideon and harrow are from the ninth house”
”Yeah fuckno coronabeth is the one dying of some disease…”(🙂)(this would have been very ironic to me if dulcie’d had that name)
”No she’s not”
”I’m so confused”
”Dying girl’s name is something and she’s from the sixth house maybe”
