The Dead of Theros

The world of Theros was designed for the company Wizards of the Coast, for their game Magic: the Gathering. It’s inspired by Greek Myth, but with a modern, more high-fantasy twist. Those who die are sent to the underworld, watched by Erebos, god of the dead, and guarded by Cerebos and Demons ordained in gold, privvy to sins such as Gluttony and Greed. If they wish, the dead can forge a gold mask and return to the surface, but at the cost of their identity. They retain no memories, have no face, and are but shells of their past lives.
