the thing is that hardwon and moonshine are literally soulmates. ‘I’ve always been half elf ever since I met you’ shut UPPP we get it already… like she literally parts the sea for him. she’s the one who lays with him in his coffin and shares his fear with him before he gets reincarnated. he makes her feel loved and appreciated and valued, and loves her people and her heritage just as much as she does.

no but actually, from the perspective of the genre the eldermourne gods are a piece of worldbuilding that i'm just obsessed with.

it fits perfectly into the tone of the campaign. it gives an air of hopelessness but in a way the fate of the gods means a dark kind of freedom. everything that happened after them is really just what people did to each other.

and it's not like trinyvale, where gods get fed up and try to destroy and war with one another. their abandonment of the world is just... empty. that's it. no encore. the world simply can't be saved by divine acts any longer.

there's something unique about that decision and something haunting and something beautiful.

there's something I can't quite articulate about lottie allowing shauna to use her body to release her anger. something about how girls are taught our bodies aren't our own. we starve them and cut them and dress them up for the benefit of others. from a young age, everyone else has a say in what we do with them. our parents control if we can cut our hair oh no people won't like it if you have short hair better keep it long and feminine. our teachers control what we wear you can't be showing so much skin it distracts the boys. doctors want you to think of your potential future husband what if he wants children.

with all of that, why not offer up your own body, stand with your hands behind your back, intentionally defenseless, and allow your friend, your grieving traumatised friend (it doesn't matter if you're traumatised too stop being so selfish, won't you think of others) to unleash all her grief and pain and anger upon your body. it was never yours anyways.
