So we all know the scene in Days of Future Past, where they are breaking out Erik, and Charles goes "Sorry, I'm not one for violence," and then punches Erik.
But like, what if Charles kissed Erik, then punched him? Here is a rough draft I made, but now I'm going to bed. (Should it be kiss then punch or punch then kiss? let me know your thoughts)
This was all going horribly wrong, Charles thought as the sprinkler system went off, stuttering to life, soaking them all to the bone.
Logan had managed to take on the guards that showed up.
“Oh, I’m sorry, are you finished?” Logan snarked, clearly unimpressed with how their mission had gone so far.
Charles manages to get the keys off one of the guards’ belts, making his way to the elevator.
“I’m not particularly good at violence,” Charles tells Logan, pressing the elevator button,
The door opens, and while Charles knew he would end up seeing Erik at some point, it was the whole point of breaking Erik out, but to see him again after so long made something in Charles break further than he thought possible. He was so overwhelmed with emotions that he saw red.
The rage was first, Erik took his sister, his legs, and abandoned him on that beach, which wasn’t something Charles could or would get over. Charles thought he’d go to his grave hating Erik. But there was something else under all that pain…was it heartbreak?
They never had a physical relationship, not for a lack of trying on Charles’ part. They stayed platonic during the many road trip recruitments, the late-night chess games at the mansion, and when he was sure he’d kiss Erik after their emotionally charged training session, where Erik moved the satellite dish only for Moira to interrupt them. Charles knew Erik felt something for him, too. After so much rejection, Charles couldn’t help but sneak a peek at Erik’s mind to see if the man was bothered by Charles’s ‘subtle’ advances. To see that Erik did hold a candle for Charles made the longing tolerable, then the beach happened, and their epic love story turned tragic.
“Charles?” Erik called, surprised to see the man before him.
In a fit of rage, Charles grabbed Erik by his shirt, eyes searching for any sign of regret or remorse, something to show Charles that the man he knew Erik to be was still in there. There was a flicker in the light reflected in Erik’s impossible eyes, and Charles decided fuck it.
Kissing Erik should have been everything he dreamed it to be. Filled with love, devotion understanding, instead it was bitter and anger, but still just as heated.
Erik was shocked, not pleasantly surprised to be kissed by Charles. He was starting to reciprocate the kiss, running his tongue over Charles’s closed lips, when the other man pulled back and swung.
The punch sent Erik to the ground. He felt blood against his tongue. “Good to see you, too, old friend.”
