Nonprofit Customer Service Jobs

Customer service is a profession often associated with the private sector, but nonprofits also need folks who are adept at helping their communities complete transactions, sign up for memberships, and troubleshoot. If you have experience in retail or at the call center, you’d fit right in at these public sector customer service positions!

Take a look at this Customer Service Coordinator position at Rails to Trails Conservancy, located in Washington DC. Rails to Trails is a unique organization that provides education and advocacy regarding converting formerly active railroad tracks into trails. The coordinator would be helping members process donations and helping troubleshoot any issues they might have.

Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking a Customer Service Representative to assist with appointments and referrals. Must have a sensitive phone manner and the ability to handle a high volume of calls.

If you have experience in warehouse logistics and sales, you could be the next ReStore Associate at Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County,  located in Chalfont, PA.

Omaze is an interesting agency that provides fundraising services to nonprofits, and they’re looking for a full-time Customer Service Coordinator at their Culver City, CA office.

Nonprofit Jobs For People With Greenthumbs

Want a job with “growth”? This week, we are featuring jobs with growth that you can physically see- opportunities for gardeners, greenhouse assistants, community educators, and conservation developers. If you want to feel the soil squished between your fingers and you want the chance to spend your work hours outdoors, read on!

At the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, you can put your pride in cultivating plants, shrubs, and other flora on display as Assistant Gardener. If you have at least 15 credits in horticulture, agriculture or a related field from an accredited or community college, or a certificate from a recognized horticultural or botanical program, you’re well on your way!

For those who want to pair their gardening know-how with education, check out the Gardener/School Activity Specialist opportunity at P.S. 329. As a YWCA-NYC COMPASS Program initiative, this role requires the ability to foster creativity and curiosity among elementary school children, as well as gives the opportunity to work towards building innovation and problem-solving skills in the area of STEM.

On the West Coast, another opportunity to meld gardening and educating exists in the Garden Educator- Community Partner role at The Kitchen Community. Use your Spanish/English bilingual skills and co-lead learning garden installations at new schools!

If Facilities and Garden Management is more your speed, you can develop and implement the annual planting and harvesting calendar at Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center. Design and maintain watering, irrigation, and garden drainage systems as well as well garden composting activities.

Seeking a temporary gig that will fulfill your desire to work with butterflies? The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission may be your spot. At this 50-acre botanical garden, you can use your communication skills and knowledge of plant care in the role of Assistant Manager to the Butterfly Exhibit. You will handle butterflies and assist in the operation and management of the live exhibit.

Help develop New York’s first EcoDistrict as Ecodistrict Coordinator at Greentopia- but act quickly, as the deadline date is July 15th! This role requires experience in sustainable development and urban planning, and you will be instrumental in this unique opportunity to improve a neighborhood’s environmental impacts while serving as a model for other communities that will commit to sustainable development.

Nonprofit Jobs Abroad Currently On Idealist

Although many jobs on Idealist are located within the United States, we’re an international site and list thousands of opportunities across the world. Although it helps to know which region or country you want to work in, sometimes it’s a good idea to simply browse the site and see what’s out there.

Twitter Chat With Founder Of BlinkNow

Good news! Our next Twitter chat will be held Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at 10 AM EST. Our guest will be Maggie Doyne, founder of BlinkNow, a nonprofit foundation in Nepal focused on building community through caring for children, education, healthcare, empowerment, and sustainability.

Through BlinkNow, Maggie and her team have started a school, created both a children's home and a women's center, as well as founded a health clinic. If you want to learn more about Maggie and her journey before joining us on Tuesday then check out this article in The New York Times.

Part-Time Jobs To Further Your Career

Hello job-seekers! For those of you searching and scrolling this week, we want to highlight some awesome part-time positions on the site. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time work, remember that “part-time” doesn’t have to be synonymous with number crunching and paper filing. These jobs can be a great way to further your career, gain professional experience, and potentially transition into full-time jobs!

Education

To start with, education is a field that almost always has part-time positions due to the nature of class schedules. In fact, we currently have about 500 part-time jobs in education on the site. Jobs in education call on a wide range of skills to support many different types of students. There are traditional stints, such as this Multimedia Instructor position at Youth Radio in Oakland, CA or this seasonal summer camp Math/Language Arts Teacher job with the Native American Youth and Family Center in Portland, OR. But there are also jobs off the expected trail, ranging from teaching culinary arts to adult immigrants to counseling and advising students and their families to developing and coordinating programs to support senior residents.

Specific Fields

Aside from education, there is plenty happening throughout every nonprofit field. Are you trained in psychotherapy? The Mental Health Providers of Western Queens in New York is looking for a part-time, bilingual psychotherapist to join its team! Alternatively, if your skill is in design, you might like this Visual Designer/UX Developer job with the Snow Leopard Trust in Seattle, WA. Or perhaps you’re a nurse with experience in ambulatory health care? If so, you might be perfect for this Perinatal Prevention Project Coordinator job with the Health Federation of Philadelphia.

General Fields

If you want part-time work that doesn’t require specific graduate degrees or qualifications, you still have plenty of options! For instance, there’s this part time Employment Specialist position with St. John’s Community Services Delaware, where you will support people with disabilities through employment programming.
