my co-worker sent me this car and told me to look it up. unfortunately they didn’t send many identifiable features for those who don’t know much about cars (they’re a bit stupid). thank you

if you've got a careful eye, there's enough to narrow it down.

putting knowledge of car styling aside, we can tell from the badge on the side that it's got a 307 cubic-inch engine, since that's usually what these kind of badges meant for cars of this era. plugging that into google gives us the 307 ci Chevrolet small-block V8. wikipedia gives us a short list of cars that Chevrolet made with this engine package:

from here, we can narrow down the styling and look up cars with specific cues that match up. and shortly after, we can find this:

this is a 1969 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport. the general shape is a match, and the antenna, front quarter panel badge, and side trim strips are identical to your car. but, the hood is different, and the ss model was only offered with larger engines (namely, the 350-ci and big-block 396-ci V8s), so we can narrow down that yours isn't a Super Sport. and as far as i can tell, there were no other named option packages for this car.

one small note is that these cars were marketed as "Chevy II" in 1968 and just as a regular "Chevrolet" from 1969 afterwards. since we can't see the front end well enough to differentiate, we can't be certain if the car was made before 1969 or not.

but we can go just a little farther to narrow things down more. the above image is from a 1973 facelift version, but as you can see it doesn't align with the styling of the front fascia anymore, so with certainty i can say this is a 1968-1972 Chevrolet Nova 307.

usually i, the admin of this account, do have an opinion on whether what im detecting is or isnt a miata, however this time im genuinely just. unsure. this guy posts a lot of miatas so i broadly trust their judgement, but like. cmon. unfortunately the hood, side panel area immediately in front off the windscreen, trunk, wheelbase, and roof are close enough that it really could be a crazy bodykit on a miata, but like. are we for serious? thered have to be way too much done to it. i use this as an excuse a lot but its debadged which makes it harder lol cuz theres nothing there to immediately tell us its someyhing other than a miata, and miata owners are fuckin crazy they would do all this. i wish i were home instead of in china rn cuz then id be able to look at all my resources to check things like antennae placement, windscreen angle, and exhaust, but at the same time if they modded the body that hard theres no reason they coildnt mod the rest.

tldr: i really dont know.

i'm almost certain this is a 1989-1997 Mazda MX-5/Eunos Roadster NA. it could be JDM but while i don't recognize the street signs it's almost certainly some european country, so it could also be a local RHD model. the hardtop is also very reminiscent of aftermarket miata roofs i've seen before.

edit: those aren't european road signs, and on closer look it does have a japanese license plate. almost for sure, JDM MX-5 in its home country

I'm not the biggest fan of the toyota liveries being more red across the board.... the black with red accents (and the big red n white "GR".. woaw) really was quite unique and rather sleek....
