in which reader and jay cook together, but get a little sidetracked
a/n: hi! i hope you enjoy this jay imagine i wrote a while ago :) i love writing domestic things and will probably do more in the future with him or other idols <3 also can you tell i love writing about idol!reader lmaoo
the meat aisle inside the convenience store was quite cold, and y/n trembled slightly at the low temperature as she looked for some meat cuts for the dinner she and jay were making back at the boys’ dorms to celebrate their anniversary as a group alongside y/n’s group. as their members rested, the two got in charge of choosing and making the food, since they were their groups’ respective chefs. most times, the members would’ve completely starved for hours hadn’t it been for their cooking skills.
as y/n finally chose the cuts, she looked at jay, who was picking some fish cakes from a self. “we’re making kimchi and potato pancakes too, right?” she asked.
“yeah,” jay answered, nodding towards her as he scanned the different flours in search of one to make the pancake mix. “i'll go get the ingredients for that and you search for tteokbokki.”
“okay, meet you at the register when you’re done,” y/n told him, and they both parted ways.
soon, they reunited. jay noticed y/n had a bit too much than he thought they needed, so he called her out. “y/n, that’s more than just ingredients,” jay observed, giving her a pointed look.
“i got a bit sidetracked,” the girl chuckled. “i saw snacks that the members liked and i had to get them,” being the leader came with being very observant, and y/n had mentally kept notes on her members’ favourite snacks, so she thought she’d surprise them with the food.
jay looked confused at her words. “but i’m paying?”
“exactly.”
the boy only sighed at her determined expression, but paid for everything nonetheless, being physically unable to say no to her. after putting everything in the bags, they quickly went back to the house to start preparing.
as she entered enhypen’s home, y/n struggled to keep the groceries in her hand as she tried to take off her jacket and shoes. upon noticing, jay quickly took her bags and placed them on the floor before standing in front of her and taking of her thick scarf slowly, smiling at her reddened cheeks because of the cold. “cute,” he mumbled under his breath, but quickly played it cool and avoided her gaze as he set the scarf on one of the coat racks and grabbed one of the bags with the food, walking to the kitchen and avoiding jungwon’s gaze that had seen the whole scene. jay knew he’d get teased eventually, but he tried to stall it for as long as possible.
“here,” y/n said, tossing different snacks to her girls as she passed by the living room, knowing the boys would end up stealing some.
“thanks!” georgie, one of the members, smiled. “did jay pay?”
“of course,” the leader smirked proudly. “also, we’re making kimchi and potato pancakes and tteokbokki along with the meat, is that alright?”
the chorus of “yes” y/n got brought a grin to her face. both her and jay didn’t consult the others before buying the ingredients, but they knew well enough that most of them were craving the plates they were going to prepare.
the two designated cooks started taking the food out of the bags and neatly placed the stuff they needed on the kitchen counter. even as they did simple things like preparing the ingredients and utensils, jay and y/n always worked together well in the kitchen. they helped each other when needed and also gave each other enough space to do their own individual tasks. they had an unspoken language that only they seemed to understand, and it never failed to amaze their members.
after all the things they needed were spread out, the pair shared a look and nodded at the same time, knowing what they had to do next.
“guys!” jay called out. “come get everything to set the table while we start cooking!”
following jay’s command, everyone went to the kitchen quite quickly, so the table was set fast, and they all went back to their activities, meaning the cooks were left alone in the kitchen once more.
as usual, y/n turned on her speaker and put her cooking playlist on (yes, she made a cooking playlist out of the songs that both her and jay liked). most of the time they were silent or singing along to the songs (either softly or at the top of their lungs, there was no in between), but sometimes they engaged in some small conversation about random stuff that happened or that they saw in the company, creating a comfortable and careless atmosphere. y/n loved cooking with jay for that reason, since he never pressured her into conversation or made her feel any sort of pressure. they just shared a space and sort of existed together as they expressed their care for their members through their actions.
although they usually made it look like they hated cooking for so many people, the pair actually loved it, for one of their main love languages was doing acts of service through making food for their closest friends. they also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, since it relaxed them and took their thoughts away for a while, the only worry being if the others would like the food (which they always did, much to y/n and jay’s content). even if it had been really hard work for the two on a few occasions, it was still worth it when they saw everyone’s happy faces as they tried the food. plus, they both took any opportunity to hang out together without anyone else in the room, but they wouldn’t admit that out loud just yet.
while they waited for the tteokbokki sauce to reduce a bit, they made the pancakes so they stayed warm until they took all the food to the table. they swiftly cooked them all and stacked them in two plates, their hands slightly greasy from the oil they used.
“let’s wash our hands and then plate the tteokbokki,” suggested y/n.
“good thinking,” the boy agreed. “we don’t want the pan to slip out as we lift it.”
somehow, they both thought it was a great idea to wash their hands at the same time in the kitchen sink, so they had to be really close to each other, their arms touching in order to fit the four hands in the small space. y/n laughed both at the silliness of it all and at the fact that she was in very close quarters with the boy she had ended developing feelings for. it wasn’t intentional at all from her side, they started as great friends and, suddenly, one day, after a few moments where she doubted her stance towards jay, she realised she didn’t want to just be her friend anymore. still, she remained silent about it, not really knowing how to break the news yet.
noticing the sudden proximity, jay took it as an opportunity to playfully annoy the girl. he first put his hands on top of hers, not letting her wash the soap off since he was blocking the water from falling. rolling her eyes, she put her hands over his and finished washing them. unsatisfied with the prior strategy’s results, jay then decided to grab some water, shaping his hands like a bowl, and splashing her face.
“park jongseong!” y/n gasped, the top of her hair fully soaked. “oh, you’re going to regret doing this,” as soon as she said that, she copied the boy’s actions and chased him around the kitchen island until she managed to corner him and poured the water over him, making his hair wet as well. “now we’re even,” she laughed at the sight of his hair drooped down because of the water’s weight. even then, he looked handsome, and y/n’s heart skipped a beat upon seeing him like that.
“everything okay?!” jungwon asked from the living room, since some of them heard a bit of a commotion.
the cooks laughed, taking in their messy appearances, water dropping down their heads into their faces and clothes. “yes!” y/n shouted back, directing her gaze to the door so jungwon could hear her well. “everything’s,” she turned to jay once again, who was looking at her intently. “…fine,” she murmured, fully aware of his gaze. his hooded eyes bore into hers, then moved around to look at her facial features wordlessly. the silence was making y/n anxious, since she didn’t really know what to take from the situation, but still she remained there, in front of him, caged by his presence alone.
the boy still said nothing, choosing to lift his hand instead and bringing it close to the girl’s face. she slightly flinched at first, more as a reflex than anything else, since she knew he wouldn’t harm her in any way, although his next actions did shock her. he slowly moved his hand to fix the wet hair that stuck to her forehead, sweetly tucking one of the strands behind her ear.
y/n’s insides churned at the action, thousands of butterflies swarming around relentlessly, even as she tried to stop them, but to no avail. his actions flustered her, and jay seemed to notice that, for he softly smiled at her, the right corner of his mouth lifting slightly higher than the left as he let out a quiet chuckle, the sound of it being muffled by the music still playing out of the girl’s speaker.
suddenly, something got over jay and it made him want to act without a second thought. seeing that y/n didn’t look particularly uncomfortable but more so startled, even with the position they were in, he proceeded. he started closing the little space that was left between them, and y/n’s eyes widened slightly.
“what are you doing?” she whispered, only loud enough for him to hear.
jay looked at her lips, then back at her eyes. “i’m going to kiss you now,” he stated matter-of-factly as he moved his hand toward the back of her neck. “can i?” he searched for her consent and, upon seeing her nod slightly, he proceeded, meeting his lips with hers. he kissed her gently, afraid that she would crumble under him, and y/n almost did, had it not been for jay’s free hand resting comfortably on her waist and keeping her up.
y/n wasn’t really thinking as she kissed the boy back, enjoying the way his hands rested on her body, so gently and radiating such warmth that she felt she’d still feel their weight even after he would let her go. his fingers traced random patterns on the little skin that showed from the crop top she was wearing. she then lifted one hand to his chest, and moved the other to his hair, softly tugging at it from time to time, making the boy kiss her with a bit more force when she did so.
at some point, he ended up grabbing her hips with both hands and lifting her up onto the kitchen counter, letting her legs wrap around his waist as he kept kissing her, moving from her mouth to her cheeks and neck before going back up to her lips. jay knew that, after having had a taste of her, he’d be going back again and again, no matter the consequences. she was addicting, and he was fully willing to get entirely consumed by her. no other thing could make him feel like she did during that moment and every other second he spent with her. he was completely entranced by her being, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
warnings: mention of stressed out reader, mentions of food and eating, kissing, reader feeling under the weather (lmk if i missed any!)
in which reader has a headache, so her boyfriend tries to alleviate the pain.
a/n: omg hello again! it's been a long long time :) i've been very busy with my third year of uni, but i'm going to try and post a bit more now that i have a break between semesters! i hope you guys like this one <3
it was just another day of promoting for the new album that moonstone, y/n’s group released, this time in inkigayo, where yeonjun and her had been working for two weeks since then as the new mc’s. everything was going well, the interview had just started and the three commentators made the other five members feel comfortable. the audience was amused by their comfortable conversations and even laughed when they realised that they were going out of script.
nonetheless, y/n wasn’t being very talkative that day since she was having a headache from the moment she woke up, so she didn’t want to force herself to say anything apart from what was in her script before performing for that day’s stage.
yeonjun, who was standing next to her during the interview, had noticed her state and gave her a sympathetic look, to which she flashed him a fast and small smile, grateful that her boyfriend realised she wasn’t feeling her best right then. “so, y/n,” said boy started, feeling sorry that he had to make her talk, even if it was just a short answer to his question. “what can your fans, moonlight, expect from this stage?”
y/n took a short breath, composed herself, and straightened up, trying to seem as okay as possible. “well,” she responded, pushing herself to form coherent words. “this is our first performance for this song, so we’ll show our beautiful fans the whole choreo live for the first time!” she gave the camera a grin and continued. “we hope they all enjoy it just as much as we do,” she finished with a grin and a small heart directed to the camera and then looked at the actual audience, who cheered loudly at her words and gesture.
“amazing!” the third mc spoke and turned to one of the other five members to ask her another question. as said member talked, yeonjun kept stealing glances at y/n, both to make sure she was okay and because it had been a few weeks since they had seen each other, and he missed being next to her. the girl noticed but pretended to not see anything and tried to hide her smile to not alarm anyone that watched the interview, hoping twitter wouldn’t put their ship name on trending again for the nth time that month since they announced they’d be working together. on the inside, though, she wanted nothing more than to be with him without any cameras around, for she also wished to spend time with him, especially after not meeting at all for a while because of the hectic schedule that came with new releases.
the interview ended swiftly, so the members quickly went to their waiting rooms to get the final touches in order to perform. it was a hard choreography, and the song required a high vocal register, so y/n got an even bigger headache when the schedule concluded. thankfully, the group didn’t have to stay longer, so after changing, the members parted ways. some of them went to their idol friends’ dorms while others just decided to go to a café nearby and wind down before going back to work during the afternoon.
stepping inside the empty dorm, y/n said a quick hi to the cats that belonged to one of the members and to her dog remus, fed all of them and put on some comfortable clothes just to throw herself on the bed right after. as she let the mattress envelop her, she basked in the silence and let out a deep sigh, overwhelmed and tired of everything, even though it was just 1 pm. she thought of making lunch, but she didn’t have the strength to even do that, so she just closed her eyes and let sleep take over her.
an hour and a half later, she woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. she clumsily grabbed it and picked up the call. “hey,” y/n immediately smiled after hearing his voice. “can you let me in? i brought some stuff that might lift your spirits,” without answering him, y/n ran to the front door and opened it in a rush, throwing herself into yeonjun’s arms. he quickly dropped the bag he had on his hand and wrapped his arms around her, tightening his grip on her waist and lifting her up slightly, making her giggle softly at the action.
y/n placed her head in the crook of his shoulder, revelling on his warmth and slightly hearing the soft beating of his heart. “missed you,” she mumbled, pressing a small kiss to his collarbone.
yeonjun softly chuckled, trying to pull her even closer to him, even though there was no space left between them. “i missed you too, baby,” after a while, he slowly detangled himself from the hug and picked up the bags he had left on the floor, raising them up to his girlfriend’s face. “i gave myself the pleasure of buying you lunch and your favourite bubble tea cause you looked really exhausted during inkigayo and i hate seeing you like that,” he pouted slightly as he looked down at her. yeonjun always felt guilty when she was under the weather. he knew it wasn’t his fault, and she reminded him of that too, but he couldn’t help but think he could do more to try and make her feel better faster and more easily, so he always tried to do things for her, no matter how small, to take off some of the weight she seemed to carry. their relationship went two ways, and he always took that into consideration.
y/n was having a very busy schedule that month, so her anxiety piked up and she also felt very stressed, both things making her feel much more sensitive, so she almost started crying, her eyes glistening and unshed tears threatening to fall. “you didn’t have to do that, baby,” she whispered, smiling tearfully. “i would’ve been able to look after myself,” she tried to put up a front like usual, since she didn’t really like feeling vulnerable, although she tried to work on it when it came to yeonjun. “besides,” she continued, mirroring his pout. “aren’t you tired too? from today’s work and practising for the comeback?” y/n realised he was also kind of being hard on himself, and felt bad that he couldn’t rest as much because he went to get things for her.
yeonjun placed the bag on the kitchen counter, then turned to his girlfriend and placed one hand on her waist as the other cradled her cheek, his thumb slowly caressing it. “yeah,” he admitted. “i can barely hold myself up right now, but i thought that we could eat take out together and then cuddle in bed and take a well-deserved nap,” he gave y/n his signature smile, tilting his head and closing his eyes slightly as he did so. “don’t you think?”
y/n giggled at his actions. “yeonjun, love, you know i really like cuddles,” her smile widened as he his eyes lit up when hearing that. “but-” she tried to continue and argue that she had to prepare some tracks for the special stages for some performances that were taking place at the end of the month, but he cut her off.
“no!” the boy quickly intervend. “no ‘buts’, we’re taking the rest of the afternoon for ourselves whether you like it or not,” this time, he frowned, trying to make himself look fierce, but she just found it endearing.
still, y/n knew she couldn’t say no to him when he got so stubborn, so she accepted defeat and sighed. “you’re not gonna change your mind, are you?” she questioned, to which he quickly shook his head no, as she expected. “okay, cuddles it is then,” she tried to sound disappointed, but a smile threatened to peek out.
“yes!”
after the delicious lunch, the pair went to y/n’s room and laid in bed. y/n settled her head on yeonjun’s chest, hearing his steady heartbeat and feeling the pattern of his calmed breathing. yeonjun looked at her and smiled, slowly gliding his fingers through her soft hair and admiring her features. he could look at her every day for the entirety of it and would still find new things to love with every glance he took. he truly loved her with his whole being and always felt like he was soaring around her, the honeymoon phase of their relationship not quite over yet (and maybe it would never be, for every time he even spared a glance at her and her eyes met his, his heart went crazy).
“hey, babe?” y/n asked
yeonjun muttered a soft, “hm?” to tell her to keep going.
“can you not stare at me that much during interviews? it’s hard to concentrate while feeling your eyes on me all the time,” she pleaded, embarrassed to admit that he made her that nervous.
yeonjun wrapped an arm around her waist, moving downwards so he could pull her closer and hide his face in her neck. “but i can’t help it!” he whined. “you’re too beautiful to not look at, love.”
“but you’re making it very obvious that we’re together, jun,” she chuckled, twirling his hair around her index finger.
yeonjun groaned in faux annoyance. “what do you suggest i do then, cover my eyes?”
y/n laughed at his question. “no, baby, i’m just asking that you look at everyone else except of just me or else we’ll get outed before we even realise it,” she stated. “twitter and tiktok are crazy enough about us already so let’s try and keep our companies as sane as possible until we decide to announce it on our own terms, okay?” she reasoned. they had been dating for half a year, so it was still new, and they didn’t want to rush it and be out to the public too early. they agreed on taking it slow so they could enjoy it without pressure.
“i-” he started, but sighed. “ugh, sure” he caved in. “fine, i’ll do what you say, your highness,” he flailed his arm around dramatically, pretending to bow like a knight would.
y/n laughed and met his gaze. “thank you, junnie,” she said as she kept playing with the ends of his hair, noticing how he closed his eyes a slightly when she scratched his scalp with her nails. just by laying with him, her headache was already dissipating, so when her boyfriend checked in on her and asked her how she was feeling, she answered truthfully. “i'm feeling much better, baby,” she smiled. “thank you for being here with me.”
yeonjun’s eyes lit up at her answer, his whole self relaxing as he felt proud of himself for visiting her and doing his best to make the aching go away. he lifted her face up by the chin with his index and thumb fingers, moving his hand to the back of her head as he carefully pulled her closer, the distance between them growing smaller and smaller until their lips met. it was a short kiss, but also soft and just enough for them both to feel giddy inside like a pair of teenagers. yeonjun looked at her afterwards and smiled, tracing random patterns on the nape of her neck. “anything for you, my love.”
warnings: mention of stressed out reader, mentions of coffee
in which y/n, the leader and producer of her group at jyp, makes a b-side and shows it to a very special person.
a/n: i made this a while ago, so my writing style might have changed a bit, but felix is one of my ults so i needed to post this!
y/n had just finished producing and writing her last, but most important, b-side track of her solo mini album and was just sitting in her studio, trying to calm herself after being in constant stress. while she turned around in her chair, she was thinking of ways and ideas to promote the album and make it as original and authentic as possible.
she had thought of everything from the music video for the title track to the album cover, except just one thing: what was she going to do with her most precious b-side? after much pondering and with nothing planned, she decided to let it go for the time being and go get an iced latte. it may or may not have been almost one am, but her sleep schedule was already messed up, so one more coffe wouldn't hurt, right?
she was walking down the halls of the company building with the objective of going to the jyp cafe when she heard music coming from the pratice room where stray kids usually were. she was curious about who of the eight of them was still there dancing, so she opened the door and took a peek, only to be surprised about the fact that it was felix, since minho was the one that stayed most days.
she quietly watched him dance to the slow and soft melody coming from the speakers, remembering the tune from the day that changbin had showed the track to both him and y/n a few weeks before. the more y/n watched him dance, the more she fell for him, and each time she was more aware of it, the smile on her face giving it away to even the most oblivious people.
felix finished dancing and dropped down on the floor, completely exhausted. y/n quickly snapped out of her trance and walked inside towards him, grabbing the water bottle that was next to the entrance on the way. she softly tapped him on the shoulder to let him know she was there and handed him the water bottle, softly smiling at him when he looked up at her with his beautiful brown eyes.
“thanks,” he muttered with the little strength he had left, but still managing to smile fondly at her.
“woah, be careful there bubs,” y/n started once felix started chugging the water, slowly lowering the bottle so he didn’t drink too much at once. “we don’t want to have a silly accident here,” felix giggled at her comment, and y/n swore she could’ve melted right then and there had she not been leaning her body on the wall.
after a few seconds, the australian boy got up to play the song and start dancing once again to perfect the choreography that one of the group’s choreographers had tasked him with learning. y/n knew he was too tired to continue, so she got to the speaker first and stopped him before he could press replay. felix looked at her with a pout, and even though y/n found it hard to resist it, she stood her ground. “no,” she told him. “you’re gonna rest even if you like it or not.”
“oh, come on,” he wined, but she didn’t budge. “please?” he tried to persuade her again, but to no avail, so he sighed and walked away to get the hoodie he had discarded on the sofa hours ago. “what do you suggest we do, then?” he asked while turning off the lights and closing the door of the practice room, y/n trailing right behind him. as he was turning around, an idea popped into y/n's head, one worth trying to make it work.
“i’m glad you ask that, lixie, because just now i finished a track and it want to show it to you,” she tried to make it look like she was just searching for validation, when she had a bigger plan in mind. felix, of course, bought her half thruth and flashed her one of his warm smiles.
“sure,” he paused to yawn. “but can we get coffee first?” y/n immediately agreed to that and they both went to the cafe.
lattes in hand, the pair went to the girl’s studio, felix sitting on the sofa and y/n on her chair so she could have it easier to search and play the song. as it boomed from the speakers, she anxiously looked at her crush and close friend, since she was actually kind of seeking for approval, especially from him. it was one of the songs that she was proudest of, mostly because it was different than the ones she made for her group and even from the other ones in the album, but she thought it was the best b-side she had ever made and she feared that someone wouldn’t like it. thankfully, felix wasn’t one of the people who hated it, and the way his eyes shined during and after the song made it clear.
silence came back again, and he slowly looked at y/n with nothing but adoration on his face. he knew y/n was really good at making songs, but that one outshined all the others she had made. “wow,” he managed to utter. “it’s so good y/n, oh my god,” he chuckled. “this could perfectly be your title track, you know that right?”
y/n giggled, then nodded. “i was debating on wether it should be this or the current one, but the other one has more range for the music video, choreo and such,” at her words, felix hummed, understanding her point of view. “still, i want to ask you something regarding this song,” y/n told him, and he looked at her, waiting for her to make whatever question. “i was wondering if you wanted to make a choreography for this song, so they could then film you in a set and turn it into some kind of music video?”
felix’s eyes met hers. “you trust me that much that you want me to be in one of your music videos?”
y/n shook her head in affirmation. “well, you would technically be the only one in the video,” she hesitated, but then continued with a whisper. “and it would only make sense if it were you.”
the australian was confused. “what do you mean by that? why only me?”
y/n looked at him and wondered if she should tell him, but ended up deciding that he had the right to know. “well...the song is kind of about you, as a thank you for everything you’ve done for me and helped me with after all this time.”
to say felix was shocked was an understatement, but he was trying to wrap his head around the fact that y/n, the girl he had fallen head over heels for, had made a song about him, and that it was probably her best composition yet. his eyes glistened, tears threatening to fall from happiness, but he didn’t let them fall and instead took y/n's hand and pulled her to him so he could properly hug her. “thank you,” he whispered, smiling from ear to ear. “i will put my everything into this choreography.”
y/n smiled and nuzzled her face into the crook of felix’s neck. “i know you will, lixie, i know you will.”
warnings: slight mention of stress, mentions of food, no use of y/n (decided to try it, but probably will go back to third person)
in which reader can't sleep and decides to bake a cake, getting some unexpected (but not unwanted) company in the middle of it.
a/n: god it's been a while lmao
it was late at night and you were alone at home, finding it impossibly hard to fall asleep, your mind clouded with thoughts that had been stressing you out for a while. since you knew you weren't going to bed anytime soon, you decided to bake a chocolate cake.
was it 4am? yes. did you care? no.
after you checked if you had the ingredients to make the dessert, you started preparing them all on top of the kitchen counter. as you put down the flour container, you heard the doorbell ring, getting slightly startled by the sudden noise in the middle of the silence that you found yourself in moments before.
you cautiously walked to the door and checked through the peephole, just to be safe. what you saw forced a giggle out of you, since it was heeseung standing in front of the door, taking his mask off and making a funny face. you then opened the door, a smile still on your face from the stunt he had pulled. “what are you doing here at this hour, seung?” you asked, using the nickname that he only allowed you to say.
“well,” he answered. “you told me an hour ago that you couldn’t sleep, so i decided to come here and give you some company.”
you frowned. “aren’t you sleepy, though?”
the older looked at her and chuckled. “do you think i’d be here if i was?”
“i don’t know, heeseung, you sometimes make decisions without processing them beforehand,” you said.
“trust me,” he concluded. “i don’t have an ounce of tiredness in my body,” that was a lie, but you didn’t have to know. heeseung wanted to spend time with you after a while of not hanging out, so if it meant that he wasn’t sleeping that night, then he would gladly do that.
deciding to trust him, you walked to the kitchen, knowing that the boy would follow you. “i was about to bake a cake, wanna help?”
heeseung pondered the question a bit before answering. “sure, but don’t expect me to be of much aid,” his words made you smile.
“if i can make sunghoon help me, and you know how much he hates cooking, then you can too,” and having said that, you took out the materials needed to mix everything.
the only thing left was the big bowl to put all the ingredients in at the end, but it was too high up and you couldn’t reach it well, so you stood on your tiptoes and tried to grab it to no avail. seeing that the boy behind you wasn’t doing anything, you turned around and looked at him with a deadpan expression. “aren’t you gonna help or something?” you asked and, after he looked at you with an amused smile for a few seconds, he decided to come to the rescue.
standing behind you, your first thought was that heeseung was going to reach for the bowl himself, but what he did surprised you, to say the least. he grabbed you by the waist and lifted you up until you were high enough to get the bowl, which was now secured in your hands thanks to him. he then put you down, and you immediately missed the comforting warmth his touch provided. heeseung tried to look at you, but you only turned to face the other way to not show the slight blush appearing on your cheeks. “happy now?” he chuckled, ruffling your hair in the process.
“hey!” you protested. “i’ve told you many times to not do that,” heeseung only gave you a hum in response, as if saying that he would still do it even if you didn’t like it. to be honest, he liked teasing you until you got angry, he actually thought it was quite funny and cute.
you managed to calm down after the bowl incident and decided to start with the recipe that you already knew by heart, telling heeseung to do something from time to time. when he wasn’t doing anything, he just admired your concentrated face which, surprisingly, also seemed very calm. baking actually took your stress away and set your intrusive thoughts aside, so heeseung tried to take in that state of you before it flew off, since he didn’t get too many chances to see you so relaxed and content.
“here,” you told him. “hold the sifter while i pour the dry ingredients and shake it slightly to sift them.”
“yes, chef!” he playfully answered, making you laugh. after doing so, you both took turns to mix the batter and then poured it into the mould. finally, you put it in the oven and set a timer to remember to check it so it wouldn’t burn.
“okay,” you turned around and looked at all the dirty tools and containers. “now we clean.”
heeseung whined after hearing that. “do we have to?” he asked, dragging out the last word.
“yes, seung, we do, and if you help me it’ll be much faster and we can chill before taking the cake out.”
heeseung ultimately decided to clean too, taking some dirty spoons and thoroughly scrubbing the food off of them. he then spotted the bowl with the batter remnants and immediately got an idea that you would most likely hate. he thought about doing it or not and he just told himself to take the risk, since your anger didn’t last long when it came to him.
heeseung carefully grabbed the bowl and swiped a bit of the remaining batter with his finger. he then tapped you on the back with his other hand, making you turn around and be met with the boy putting the batter on your cheek. your face immediately turned into a scowl. “lee heeseung, you’re gonna regret doing that!”
heeseung ran out of the kitchen with followed by you, who turned the roles around and had some batter on your finger, ready to be swiped all over heeseung’s face. he ran and ran around only to get back to the kitchen, suddenly getting cornered. “you have nowhere to run now, heeseungie,” you sing-sang, attacking him with the batter a second after.
you both looked at each other and started laughing at yourselves acting like little kids in the middle of the night. after the laughter died down, you grabbed a tissue and went to heeseung, wiping the batter off his face with it. he then took it from you to clean your face. “we’re tied now,” you talked. “let’s not pull any more stunts.”
for a few seconds, there was only silence. until heeseung spoke up, this time not thinking about what he was about to say and do, just like you had stated a while before. “but,” he slowly approached you, making you walk backwards to keep the distance. “what if i don’t want to stop?”
you opened your mouth to speak, but you found yourself speechless. “seung,” you finally managed to blurt out in nothing but a mere whisper, only to hit the counter with your back right after, getting startled and not continuing your sentence.
heeseung had trapped you in, putting his hands on both sides of your frame, resting them on top of the counter. the tension was palpable in the air, feeling like it could be cut with a knife at any moment. you both locked eyes, the atmosphere much serious than it was seconds before. heeseung took a deep breath, just then considering the situation he was in.
he knew it was too late to back off and, even though he had pictured that happening in another, much more planned scenery, he decided to just go along with what he had started. he looked down at his feet, then back at you, sending a fleeting look to your lips, then settling his gaze on your eyes.
“can i?” he questioned softly, praying to the universe that you wouldn’t say no.
it seemed like you didn’t need to think about your actions either at that moment, because you just gave him a nod. even though it was small, that was the only thing that heeseung needed before closing the gap between you that had been growing smaller with every passing second.
you were overwhelmed with joy, but kissed back with the same force as heeseung. feeling your strong response, he smirked into the kiss, only stopping when he had no more oxygen left in his lungs. if it were for him, he would’ve continued to kiss you, but he decided to stop himself before it got too out of hand.
“if this didn’t make it obvious,” he spoke after catching his breath. “i like you.”
you smiled after hearing his words. “i like you too, heeseung,” you admitted, still giddy from what just happened.
heeseung then smirked at you. “does that mean that i can keep pulling stunts on you?”

a/n: this is my third and final part of my mini-series! part 1 here | part two here <3
it was another boring day at hybe for enhypen and y/n's group moonstone, since they didn’t have any schedules planned. enhypen had just finished promotions for their new album and were taking a rest while moonstone were just doing their things right before starting to get ready for the europe part of their tour.
y/n decided to leave her recording studio and wander the halls of the company in search of some inspiration or an interesting activity to do and pass time. after some walking around with no objective in mind, she got in the elevator and decided to go get an iced latte at the cafeteria.
no one seemed to be there, so she got her order done really fast. she sat at a table next to the big window walls and looked outside, glancing at her phone every time a notification popped out.
suddenly, she heard the elevator ding and saw a familiar face stepping out of it. it was heeseung, who smiled at the girl after noticing her, eyes creasing up as he did so. y/n swore her heart skipped a few beats when he did that, but smiled back at him, pretending to not be affected.
the boy asked for a coffee and a slice of carrot cake and made his way to her table. “i’m gonna guess this seat isn’t taken?” he asked.
y/n chuckled. “wow, amazing guess, considering the fact that there’s no one else but you and me here.”
that made heeseung roll his eyes while smirking. “oh, shut up.”
when she looked down, y/n noticed he had brung two forks with him, and softly smiled when she realised he wanted to share the slice of her favourite cake. he handed the utensil to her and motioned to the sweet with his head, as if telling her to dig in, and she gladly did so.
she then also saw that he hadn’t ordered his usual iced americano, but had what seemed to be a latte with him. the older followed her gaze to the drink and spoke. “i’ve been following your advice and i’m now getting vanilla lattes more often that americanos.”
y/n smiled proudly after hearing what he said. “as you should.”
he laughed. “you’re changing me, song y/n,” a pause. “i’m not so easy to mould, but you seem to do it without a drop of sweat.”
y/n smirked. “i must have some sort of talent then, if i can make the lee heeseung listen to me.”
“you certainly do,” he followed. “and it’s very effective.”
“you don’t seem to mind, though.”
“no, that i don’t.”
after that small and not so subtle flirting, a comfortable silence fell upon them while they continued eating the cake and drinking their respective beverages.
when they finished eating, he spoke again. “oh!” he exclaimed. “i just remembered i have something to give you.”
y/n was confused, since her birthday was still far away and, as far as she knew, no one was celebrating anything. “why the sudden present?”
heeseung simply smiled at her and winked. “i’ll tell you when i give it to you, that is if you don’t guess it yourself,” having said that, he took her hand and walked her to the elevator, pressing on the button that would take them to the floor where her studio was.
when the doors opened, he let her hand go. “go to your studio and wait for me there, it’ll take me less than ten minutes,” he didn’t give her time to say anything before he ran off to where he had left the gift, so she just walked to her recording studio and waited there.
after some waiting while being on her phone, y/n heard the door open and saw heeseung enter the room with a small paper bag in his hands. from it he pulled out a flat rectangular box that looked expensive just by the look of it.
the girl didn’t know what it was, but she was already feeling guilty because she knew that must have not been cheap. “you didn’t have to, seung,” she said, but he shushed her before she continued talking about feeling sorry.
“i didn’t, but i wanted to, so stop feeling bad and turn around.”
she did as she was told and spinned around in her chair, back facing heeseung, who gently set her hair aside. for a moment, y/n didn’t feel anything else, but then she saw heeseung’s hands holding a necklace that he then placed on her neck. it was only for a few seconds, but his hands softly grazed y/n’s neck, sending goosebumps all over her body. she hated how he made her feel, even with the smallest of actions.
after clasping both sides of the necklace together, heeseung put her hair back in place, brushing it over a bit with his fingers to make it look a bit better, since it got slightly tangled. he then turned her chair around. “well,” he told her. “what do you think?”
y/n looked at her necklace closely and saw it had a butterfly pendant on it. “it’s beautiful, heeseung,” she looked up at him and smiled widely. ”i love it so much.“
he locked eyes with her and smiled fondly. “do you know now why i gifted you this, or do you need an explanation?” he asked cockily.
y/n playfully sighed, faking annoyance. “oh, do tell, self-proclaimed genius.”
the older chuckled shortly and talked. “today marks two years since our ‘butterfly’ performance on i-land, and we both know it was a turning point in our relationship, so i wanted to celebrate that in some sort of way,” he shyly looked down, slightly embarrassed about what he said.
y/n got up and lifted his face with her index and middle finger. “it’s a beautiful reason, seung,” she said sweetly. “thank you.”
he met her stare, almost getting lost in her eyes. “also,” he suddenly whispered. ”this is also a way for me to finally confess my feelings to you,” he almost laughed at her shocked face, but continued. “because, if you hadn’t noticed yet, i really, really like you.”
y/n was internally malfunctioning, remembering every single time she had tried to confess to him and failing miserably because of the thought that she'd get rejected. apparently, everyone but her knew how obvious it was that heeseung liked her, and even he noticed the girl's feelings towards him, but decided to give her time. after the short initial shock, she managed to get some words out before he got discouraged. “i like you too,” she chuckled softly. “really, really like you.”
he pulled her closer, if that was even possible, and looked at her lips. ”good, because i don’t know what i would’ve done if i hadn’t been able to do this,” having said that, he closed the space between them and kissed her, caressing her face soothingly while doing so, the both of them getting lost in the feeling.
after a while, they separated, and y/n chuckled in disbelief. “who would’ve guessed that we would be here after the rocky start in our relationship,” she sighed. “it seems like we’re both changing each other, lee heeseung.”
he nodded while smirking. “and i wouldn’t have it any other way.”
in which i-land is a program to make both a girl and a boy group. reader and three other girls are supposed to perform fake love, but the dance moves aren't easy. luckily for reader, her now ex-rival heeseung is there to offer comfort.
a/n: this is the second part of my very small mini-series! part 1 here | part three here <3
phase two of i-land had started, and y/n was stressed to say the least. she and her team were 3 days away from the bts test, a performance she was in charge of leading, since fake love required some strong vocals and she was the best in that field.
two of her teammates, anna and georgie, had gone to a small practice room to check on the vocal details, while seungcha (the last member of the team) was sleeping in her room by y/n's orders, for she had overworked herself almost all day and it was already past midnight.
y/n was left alone in the main practice room and decided to go over the dance a few more times in hopes of getting right the moves she hadn’t mastered yet. she danced one part over and over again but couldn’t seem to stop making the same mistakes.
frustrated, she stopped the song, rested her back against the mirror and let herself fall until she sat on the floor. she felt angry at herself for not being able to execute the moves perfectly, and it was even worse when she thought that it was most probably affecting the whole group.
she slightly raised her head to face the ceiling, letting it also rest on the mirror, and closed her eyes. she felt overwhelmed by her incapability of dancing correctly and blamed herself for it, since a leader should be the one that did best in order to set an example for her other partners.
feeling anxious and angry at herself, she couldn’t help but let the tears fall, not caring about wiping them off. she cried, her negative thoughts getting stronger by the minute. she told herself she wouldn’t be able to debut if she kept that up. hell, she thought she wouldn’t even pass the next phase. she also wondered if her team could get out of such a slump if their own leader wasn’t good enough.
the stronger her assumptions were, the more the tears fell. the music that autoplayed from her playlist silenced her soft sobs, but the glass walls of the room left her exposed to whatever person that went down the stairs.
that person ended up being heeseung. he was going to the lower level of the building to see if the main practice room was available, whistling a tune as he made his way down. when he got off the last step, he saw y/n and wasted no time rushing to her.
y/n heard the door open and quickly wiped her tears, thinking it was anna or georgie and not wanting them to see her this vulnerable. to her surprise, she saw heeseung instead, but she was thankful it was him who found her. feeling a bit more at ease, she let the tears fall again, but they didn’t fall as strongly, since y/n was a bit more calm just by having the boy beside her.
heeseung sat next to her and made her rest her head on his shoulder, not before wiping the tears from her face. he put his arm around her shoulders and rubbed her arm gently. “what’s wrong?” he softly asked, worried that speaking any louder would bother her.
“everything,” y/n shortly and dryly chuckled. “i can’t get many moves of this dance right and that makes me not have enough time to check on my vocals and help the girls with that as well,” she let out between small hiccups caused by the crying. “what an amazing leader, am i right?” she sarcastically asked.
“oh y/n,” heeseung spoke. “you know that’s not true.”
y/n sat up right. ”oh but it is, heeseung!” she exclaimed. “i’m not working well by myself and even less as a leader, i’m supposed to be pushing these girls forward, not making them fall behind,” she sighed. “that’s not being a good leader,” she muttered while lowering her face.
heeseung moved so he was in front of her and lifted her face up by the chin with his thumb and index finger. “y/n,“ he said, noticing the girl couldn’t meet his eyes. “y/n, look at me, please,” he softly smiled when she did so, growing even more soft towards her when she looked at him with saddened eyes. he recognized that stare, since he had it not many weeks ago, at the start of the survival. he felt terrible knowing that she was going through such painful times like he also did.
“i know it’s hard to be a leader,” he continued. “but you need to remind yourself that you’re not the only person in this team, so you don’t have to do everything alone,” a pause. “i’m sure georgie, anna and seungcha know this, and they’ve been trying to lift some weight off your shoulders, but you’re not letting them.”
“i don’t want to burden them with anything, seung,” she worried, not noticing the name she added at the end of the sentence.
heeseung’s heart skipped a beat when she called him that, not having heard that nickname before. nevertheless, he focused on the conversation at hand. “but you’re not burdening them, you’re just asking for their help, and that doesn’t make you any less stronger or a worse leader,” he gave her a reassuring look. “in fact, it shows that you know when to be in charge and when to make others step up while you focus on improving your own skills,” he told her. “besides, i know for a fact that you don’t do ‘many dance moves’ wrong because i’ve seen you practise this song and you’re almost flawless.”
“‘almost’, you said it yourself, not completely,” y/n observed.
“that ‘almost’ can be perfectly fixed and turned into a ‘fully’,” heeseung countered. “and i can help you with that, if you don’t want to ask any of your teammates so they can focus on themselves a bit more until tomorrow.”
“you’d do that?” the girl asked.
heeseung chuckled. “why not? it’s not like you still hate me and i don’t want you near me.”
y/n looked at him with a mix of surprise and guilt. “i never hated you, heeseung,” she said. “sure, we fought and collided, but i never felt an ounce of hate towards you.”
the older looked away for a few seconds before meeting y/n's eyes once again. “well,” he smiled. ”younger me was dumb enough to think that you hated my guts.”
“younger you was very wrong, then.”
“and i’m glad he was,” heeseung smiled. “you know what? how about we start over?”
“what-”
“hi!” the boy cut her off, reaching his hand towards her. “i’m lee heeseung, and you?”
y/n giggled at what he was doing, but still played along. “song y/n,” she shook his outstretched hand. “nice to meet you.”
heeseung squeezed her hand before letting it go and looking at y/n. they both started laughing at what just happened, and he looked at her as their laughter died down. “there’s the smile i like,” he said in almost a whisper. “you look much better when you smile.”
y/n was amused at his words, trying her hardest to ignore the thousands of butterflies in her stomach that suddenly showed up because of him. she didn't want to admit it, but she was starting to fall for the boy.
feeling the sort of awkward tension between them, heeseung got up, grabbed the phone y/n was using and opened spotify. he searched for a song and pressed play, giving the girl a wide smile when snap shoot by seventeen boomed out of the speakers.
the boy started to dance around and acted silly from time to time so he could get a laugh out of y/n. at one point, he made her stand up and dance with him, not caring about making a fool out of himself, only focusing on the girl next to him and making her forget the bad thoughts she had carved into her mind.
his efforts worked, because y/n started singing the song out loud and laughed from time to time when heeseung made a weird move. when the song ended and second life started to play, the pair stopped fooling around.
y/n grabbed both of heeseung’s hands and, after some hesitation, pulled him into a hug. “thank you, seung,” she whispered to him, now actually being aware of the nickname. “i’m glad we can start over.”
heeseung returned the hug and rubbed her back. “i’m glad too, y/n, really glad.”
while both were sharing an embrace, they didn’t notice the two figures at the door. it was georgie and anna, the first one looking at the pair with a soft expression and the second with a smirk on her face. “told you they were not going to be rivals all their lives,” anna whispered, not wanting to get caught. “you owe me 10.000 won.”
“ugh,” georgie complained as they both went back to their practice room. “i thought you had forgotten about that.”

in which i-land is a program to make both a girl and a boy group and reader and heeseung are the trainee ace rivals of hybe who are forced to perform together against the grounders.
a/n: part one of my mini-series! part 2 here | part 3 here <3
it was late at night, and the i-land building residents had decided to go to bed so they had energy to practise for the ground vs i-land battle happening five days later. well, all of them were sleeping but two: heeseung and y/n.
the both of them were in the main practice room, still trying to cooperate and coordinate their moves, for they had to do a mixed stage. they were performing butterfly together, both cursing whoever decided that suddenly making a change in groups and mixing the male and female members was a good idea.
nevertheless, they ended up agreeing to suck it up and try to work as one so the team could get a high score. and there they were, still not matching each other’s energy.
stressed out, y/n stopped dancing and paused the music. “this is clearly still not working out,” she stated. “either we do something about it now or i’m going to bed.”
“what do you think we have been trying to do for the past two hours?” heeseung asked her, then muttered. “or at least i’ve been trying.”
y/n scoffed. “i’m sorry? mind you, i led this practice all afternoon and you always countered my opinions,” she said rather quickly and slightly offended. “i don’t know if you can call that trying, but sure.”
the boy sighed, visibly tired and not wanting to get into a fight again. “look,” he started. “i may not have been of much help-”
“clearly.”
“-but,” he continued after being cut off. “i didn’t do it to go against you, only to try and test things out from a different perspective.”
“well, we tried my and your ideas, and none are working,” y/n said. “maybe we need another point of view that’s not ours.”
heeseung looked at her through the mirror. “i can’t believe i’m saying this, but i agree.”
half an hour after y/n left to find help, she, surprisingly, came back with rain. how she had managed to get to him, heeseung didn’t know, but he was secretly grateful she found him out of every other producer.
they explained the situation to him and he nodded along. “so, basically you don’t know how to dance together without clawing at each other’s throats, huh?” he told them, although not waiting for neither to say anything. “and here i thought they were dating,” he muttered to himself. “talk about enemies to lovers.”
not hearing what he last said, y/n looked at the man and spoke. “do you think you can give us advice to turn this into a good performance?” to which he nodded with a warm smile and told them to show him the whole act.
they did just that, and right after the first chorus ended, rain stopped the music. “i know what’s wrong,” he half shouted. “you’re not close enough, both physically and mentally,” seeing the looks of not understanding the two teens were giving him, he continued. “you have to reach for each other, to feel what the other does and not put a barrier in between, you have to be as close as possible in order to make this credible.”
y/n and heeseung locked eyes and then turned to the producer. even though they thought rain was close to mad for even thinking they could get along, they nodded and thanked him for the advice. the eldest then excused himself and told them to record themselves if they improved so he could see it.
silence fell upon both of them and stayed that way for a bit, until the boy spoke. “i guess we have no chance but to try,” y/n agreed shortly after and pressed record on their tablet before they placed themselves in the initial position of the song.
with rain’s advice in mind, they started to sing and dance. firstly, they were doing nothing to cease the awkwardness, but during the first chorus they got a bit more near each other. unconsciously, they danced and sang closer and closer until there was little room between them.
both heeseung and y/n felt different as they saw they weren’t so separated, and loosened up when they realised that rain’s advice was actually kind of working. they met gazes more often, and fully made physical contact when it was needed in the choreo, instead of awkwardly hovering their hands over the other like earlier.
anyone that watched that last part of the song would’ve thought they had never had trouble with one another and they were inseparable from the day they met. in fact, when rain received the video, he saw a big spark of hope between the duo’s relationship.
the song finished with the ending pose, consisting of holding hands next to their faces and looking into each other’s eyes. it was supposed to be a fast ending, with them just standing like that for five seconds, but none seemed to want to let go. they kept staring at each other, their gazes then lowering to the other’s lips. they unconsciously leaned in and reduced the space between them, slightly closing their eyes-
“ayo,” anna (one of the female trainees and also one of y/n's best friends) and jay barged in through the door, anna shouting the short greeting. “have you seen my-”
y/n and heeseung quickly separated and put distance between them, looking at their friends with awkward smiles. y/n couldn’t believe herself. what was she doing, almost kissing her supposed rival?
“-beanie,” anna continued, realising she had interrupted a moment. “you know what? nevermind, i’ll search for it tomorrow,” she then dragged jay away with her. “let’s go, jay!”
“wha- but-” jay tried to speak just to be shushed by his friend while she pushed him towards the stairs.
after some excruciating silence, y/n took the courage to say something. “i’m... going to sleep, if that’s okay with you?” she didn’t even know why she asked for his approval, she could do whatever she thought best.
“sure, yeah,” the older answered. “i’ll go to bed too, then.”
they both walked to their respective rooms and went to open the door, but simultaneously turned around before twisting the knob.
“so-”
“well-”
“you first,” y/n let him speak.
“tomorrow at eight a.m, breakfast, then practice again?”
y/n was surprised to hear that he wanted to eat breakfast with her instead of being on opposite tables like they did before, but she gave him a barely visible smile and nodded. “eight a.m it is,” she turned and opened the door, looking back at him. “good night, heeseung.”
heeseung stood there after she had already closed the door, smiling to himself when he registered the fact that y/n had called him by his name and not his surname (like she always did until that night). “good night, y/n,” he whispered, still smiling, then went inside his room.
