I still love seeing the creativity here, don't get me wrong, but why not be a place that encompasses ALL of it?
Things were easier.

Captain's Log.
Day 83
I've still yet to give much of a shit about this void, but here I am sending a letter out into it. Perhaps I long too much for days past-- where I could search under any word and boom. everything that had ever been was there in one spot.
I wish I could say that I've shed a tear for what this place used to be... But I cannot.
I miss it dearly, yes, but I've no more tears left to cry for what the internet has started to become.
The internet used to be an escape from corporate and capitalist rule. but no longer. Like the plague, it spread to even the virtual world, for greed is more powerful a sin than any.

Attention ALL artists!
You sure have seen this post. It has spread like wildfire over the past few days so I doubt there is any artist out there who hasnât seen it. But even if you didnât, you should read on because Iâm about to tell you a handy little thing that can help you to protect your art from such assholes as the anon who submitted this bullcrap, as well as art thieves in general.
The magic word is Metadata.
Metadata is like an invisible signature that is embeded into a file. It can contain all kinds of information, like Title, date, keywords for online seach engines, and copyright information. And the best thing is, since this information is âhiddenâ in the code of your picture, itâs hard to remove it.
There is a nice basic tutorial on how to add Metadata, or âadditional file informationâ to your images in photoshop. Itâs really, really easy so check it out!
âAdding Your Contact And Copyright Info To Your Photos With Photoshopâ on PhotoshopEssentials.com
Iâm not sure if you can do the same with any other art program. If you know how to do this in other programs / can confirm that it works the same way there, please tell me so I can add the information to this post.
Adding the Metadata will not stop idiots from taking and reposting your art. It also wonât make them stop editing out your signature. It WILL however, help you prove that you are the original artist whenever you have to. Always remember my friends. You, the artist, are protected by law. No one has the right to take your intellectual property and hard work and repost, use or edit it without your permission. Ever.
art thief: well how can you prove its yours??
me: /opens metadata
I spread the word as it is important to all artist who ever suffered from art thieving or so.
You guys, metadata is super important, you guys. In an everday and legal sense. People legitimately look at and rely on metadata to know the basic, but important bits of information about a digital product (paintings, photographs, exe files, etc.), ESPECIALLY the source.
Donât underestimate it!

Motivation â¨
Donât forget
proof that the idea of âif you arenât successful by your 20s itâs already too late for youâ is the biggest bullshit in the universe
Iâve spent 28 years of my life in near poverty, making some really bad decisions during my teenage and young adult years and in a constant whirlpool of things during my childhood contributing to my severe anxiety and depression. People in my life - family, people who bullied me - tried to /actively stunt me/ from making art because they were convinced Iâd never make a living from it. but I just kept dedicating my time to my passion for art and polishing my knowledge and skills and making the active decision to improve myself as a person and im JUST NOW making my very first comic series that is looking like it might be successful
Iâm nearly 30 let your passion for what you love pull you through the times that fucking suck, and your break will come. realize that people who are very successful at young ages either have money/privilege, or EXTREMELY lucked out. they arenât the norm.
