Jax x Gilly - FairyTale Reform School Modern AU Fluff wc: 452

a/n: wrote this in january, it's just a oneshot, not rlly that great but I hope the 3 other FTRS fans out there enjoy it anyway :] No beta we die like the plot in the last two books 💜

They’d gotten married just 3 months ago and were now working on turning the house they’d bought into their dream home.

They’d already cleaned and painted a majority of the rooms and were working on the study where any work related things would be kept. Jax comes home from getting a new can of paint, calls out

“I’m back! Thief? Gilly?” He's looked in the living room, bedroom, kitchen, but she’s not there. He finally opens the door to the study and he has to pause, a slow small smile spreading across his face as he leans in the doorway with his arms crossed, resting his head on the door frame.

Gilly is there, hair tied back in a messy bun, headphones on as she runs a paint roller over a wall before pulling back to dance around the room, holding the paint roller like a microphone as she whipped her head this way and that, singing some words, some gibberish. Jax watched her and he felt like his heart would burst. Here was this woman, dancing around a room paint roller in hand, flecks of paint on her face and clothes, singing more gibberish than actual lyrics and he looked at her and saw the most beautiful girl in the whole world. And she’d chosen to marry him- him! She was his, and he was hers. Wholeheartedly. Completely.

She spins on her toes, stopping when she’s facing the doorway, finger pointed to the ceiling then at him. She opens her eyes and when she sees him, the biggest smile splits her face, her eyes light up, and he melts. She’s gorgeous. He watches her turn and set the roller down before rushing over to hug him, uncaring of the wet paint all over her.

“Hey, what took you so long?” Gilly pulls away slightly to look up at his face as he shrugs.

“There was a long line” He smiles and gives a small peck to her upturned lips paint be damned “though I can see  you started without me anyway.” His hands slide down her back to rest on her waist as hers loop around his neck and shoulders.

“Eh- not that much got done, so you didn’t miss anything…” She grins as they start to slowly sway side to side. Gilly rests her head on his chest as Jax kisses the top of her hair.

He watches the sunlight from the window reflect on the walls from the way it bounces off of the rings on Gilly’s finger, the light and dark purple gems casting a faint hue.

They hold each other in the early morning, in a new house, but here just like this, Jax feels at home.

Dino Nuggies

You were sick. 

Very sick. 

Stuck on the couch eating soup wishing you had dino nuggets and ice-cream while watching Netflix kinda sick. 

You groaned, wondering how you could’ve gotten this sick by  just going to the corner store across the street. Sure, you had merely worn a t-shirt and jean shorts ,even though the weather reports had been mentioning something along the lines of “Chilly winds”  and  “Be sure to wear warm clothes” but the walk to and from the store had been a measly four minutes! So why you felt like you were dying, you had no idea.

“Here, this should help with your throat,”  a soft voice murmured.

You sat up excitedly as your boyfriend’s footsteps came closer

“Dino Nuggies?”

There was a scoff.

“I said it would help with your throat, not satisfy your unnatural cravings.”  

You let out an overly dramatic sigh. “But they’re Dino Nuggies! That means, by default you should most definitely give them to your very ill girlfriend- pleeease!” you put on your best puppy eyes, knowing he wouldn’t, but hoping he’d give in. 

Keith met your gaze, unfazed. Handing you the cup of tea, he said

“You know that won’t work on me, right? I practically invented that look- Shiro can confirm.” you sighed, feeling sad you slowly drank your tea. Keith must’ve noticed your change in mood and sighed, rolling his eyes he bent down and kissed the top of your head before rustling your hair with his hand.

“Drink your tea and I’ll get you some nuggets. But you have to promise to drink some soup after, alright? Hunk brought some especially for you.” You quickly nodded and took a steaming sip of your tea with newfound energy. It burned your tongue but to your delight the tea had a rich minty flavor, and its warmth soothed your sore throat making you feel much more relaxed. You sipped a bit more before nestling the warm mug in the blankets in your lap. Being careful as not to spill, you rested your head against the soft cushions of the couch and listened to your caretaker move around in the kitchen before slowly drifting off to sleep.

You were enjoying the softest of marshmallow clouds, talking and laughing with Sheldon the Tiny DinosaurTM about what the best ice-cream flavor was when you heard someone calling your name and felt the gentle nudge in your side. Groaning, your eyes slowly flutter open and you see a gloved hand holding a plate of-

“Dino Nuggies!” you sat up excitedly, reaching for the plate. Keith laughed and handed it to you before taking the mostly empty mug out of your lap and setting it down on the coffee table. 

“How do you feel?” he rested his hand on your leg, rhythmically  moving up and down. It felt nice.

“Amazing. I have the absolute best boyfriend in the entire galaxy!”

Keith looks surprised, and is quiet for a moment before looking down at his hand on your leg, now tracing patterns on the soft blanket with his finger.

“Yeah?” 

“Yes. Absolutely. The best boyfriend and the best dino nuggies! It’s all perfect!”

He chuckles, smiling slightly before standing and taking the mug to the kitchen.

“Eat your food, before it gets cold.” There was a faint tinge to his cheeks as he walked away and you smiled, knowing how he liked your compliments.

in every smile, i saw passion. there’s no greater satisfaction than seeing that twinkle in someone’s eye; or the raising of clenched fists into the air, victory coming into fruition. yes, in every scene, when one person finally completed their great mission, that so talked about purpose in life, i felt called. my mother told me everyone is here for a reason and goodness knows society blasts about it. you must understand, i am merely a speckle in a world full of greats. but, there’s just something about those smiles. sparkly white teeth that hit you like a reflection of what you’re missing. could one actually awaken to life? look no further; those pearly grins opened my soul to welcome the age of discovery. once meaningless, now found. grab a rope and take me out of the sky, everybody, fore’ i am forever a goner to my dreams. it’s rather amusing, isn’t it? i always longed to be free, yet i led myself onto a narrow road of infinitely pursuing success, no matter how open the form. my hair is always messy, no matter how hard i try to fix it; my childhood was external frames barely fitting into that perfect role model image despite its opposing nature to my wild soul. though, in a moment of admittance, i now knew why these faces called to me, reeling me in, leaving me bound to my fate. joy, widened spirits of endless enlightenment. waves are to my piscean essence as freedom is to my happiness. creative paths ripen my pessimistic mind, providing an escape from the shadows of life. most of all, they help me comprehend what it is like to be happy. matter is so dull, and all that matters is a palette of colors. paint the night and you’ll feel alright. in my heart lies the childhood dream of becoming a singer. living of moments of harmonies, syncing with other people and realizing i’m not alone. escaping dread with nostalgic beats. i even envisioned dancing in my future; endorphins do hit like a brain wave. these imagined scenarios all do tie to fame, fortune, known success. and do not blame a girl for wanting a shiny trophy; they glitter like dreams. but, just like the shimmering reflection of sunsets on the water, the end of the day showed that they all tied back to smiles. soft smiles of peace. i just wanted that. i still do yearn for that feeling, that natural feeling of happiness. whether it comes from the energy of helping the world or fulfilling my passions or feeling truly seen. oh, yes; in grinning honesty, i knew in those moments of familiar recognition that i would do absolutely fucking anything to experience happiness with myself for once. just once. because only then would i finally feel free.

Poem

Hi, so I never told you guys, but I sometimes write poetry, so here is one I thought of at school today

I used to be yellow, was shining and happy

Then I was green, so full of envy

What changed you asked, my friends I would say

Some left, some changed then so did I

That's what changed me from my old yellow shine

I used to be green, growing and growing

Then I turned grey, did I stop growing

I was alone in this large world of ours

No one to help me, but me myself and I

I used to be grey, I felt all alone

Then I was blue, a new beginning

But blue didn't last, it all turned black

Now there was really no one left

This I could do nothing about

I used to be black

I don't know if it has changed

I sometimes feel yellow, and sometimes feel red

I sometimes feel black again

I hope that one day I can go back to green

So I can grow to what I want to be

Hazel Levesqe, or, Piper Mclean.

Hazel: She really did cry, and all the gold and jewels that anyone could ever want would rise around her feet. She felt that her mother hated her. That she loved it when she cried. She loved her mother, dearly. She would do it, over and over again knowing that it would never end because she loved her mother.

Piper: She was willing to do anything. Stealing, rule breaking, anything to make her father spend time with her. She hated her mom for leaving. She charmspoke her way into and out of trouble. She knew that her dad loved her. Very dearly in fact. But he just never had any time for her, and so she keeps doing it. Getting in trouble. Getting out of it. But nothing works. Nothing.

Out of all the places I know, I love most my head. I know what's going to happen, So I have nothing to dread.

Sometimes I wish I could live in my mind. Because it's far from reality.

In my head is a void; If you walk far, you'll reach a door.

In my head I'm in control, I've got nothing to fear. I know what's near. So when I get to the door, and open it wide, I'll know what is there, On the other side. -AP

My Lie.

When I close my eyes, it hurts. I hear things that haven't been said. I see things that never happened. It's like I'm on the line that separates reality with imagination. I've always been one with my head in the clouds. Zoning out is one of my talents. Coming up with people to talk too, so I won't be lonely. Coming up with people who've suffered like me. So that they understand.

What I've felt. What I now feel. I have my own little world, that no one knows about. And because no one knows; No one can take it from me. In my head, I feel safe.

Safe from my grandma, who always blames me. Safe from my mother, who's words cut deep. Safe from my brother, who doesn't trust me. Safe from my older sister, who really hates me. Safe from one younger sister, who's more loud than me. Safe from a second younger sister, who loves to see me cry. Safe from the last one, who has seen what I hide.

In my head I'm alone, So it's ok to cry, But I don't, and I never know why. In my head, nothing's real, So it's ok to lie. My lie is small, So it won't hurt anybody. And as long as I say it everyday, I'll be happy. I don't talk much, about my feelings to most But I trust you. So I'll tell you what I say, Everyday:
