Final Project

To start of, I took a video of my hand and the pizza box against a solid colour. In this case i took the video of the back of a door.

I then imported it into photoshop as still frames. Just like how we make GIFS. I limited the amount of frames as I had to edit the background colour to green.

This is so that I could make the background invisible in premiere pro. Exporting the clips in to an mp4 video file.

I used a glidecam (camera stabilizer) and my skateboard to record the rest of the footage.

Importing the footage and compiling them into Adobe Premiere Pro. I then used the chroma key (Ultra key) to remove the green background and make it invisible layering that footage over the footage where i had taken with my glidecam and skateboard. Seems like a long process but it turned out well i suppose. :)

I can say that it is a combination of GIFs and video. Works pretty well I reckon.

Dirty Media

Datamosh

Datamosh is some sort of a glitch. For example when you have a dvd movie disc which slidely scratched. The picture would not be running smoothly and instead show a pixelated or a glith at certain parts of the movie.

We learned how to create this effect with Adobe Premiere Pro. 

Using effects that were onboard the software itself we manage to bring out the glitch effect.

So, I was so interested in cinemagraph that I researched about it to make one. Found this tutorial video of how to make a cinemagraph. :)

Turns out its not that hard after all. Well, depends on how u composite things I guess.

First, Second and Afterlife

This week, we discussed first, second & afterlife.

First

Basically, first life refers to the life happening in the physical world, or what is often referred to as real life. Although the internet is now commonly associated with the ability to mask your identity online, this is something that has existed in “real life” as well, albeit in different forms. Cosplaying, wearing masks, marionettes, and sock puppets are just some examples of this.

Second

Second life refers to our online identity. One of the common examples for this is avatars, a conscious entity that we create to act on our behalf to communicate and interact with others.

Third

Third life is our digital footprint. Even after we cease to exist, our online activities will leave a trace in the internet.

A GIF from god. Just a simple GIF of myslef. Made from a video and importing them in to photoshop converting them into frames. And a color change where it starts of with black & white to a full color. I love videos more then photos!

Never thought that errors on Google Earth would create art. But then again, deformity of images usually create art. I guess you just have to look at it from a different perspective. And how you interpret the image or an object.

Cinemagraphs

Apart from the normal GIFs. I’m more interested in cinemagraph.

A cinemagraph is a living moment in an otherwise still photograph. It exists in the world in between a photograph and video to bring to life the image and make it last forever. Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck created the first cinemagraph in 2011 and since then have traveled the world creating work that has been seen by millions of people.

Hands, another piece by Petra Cortright. I’m not sure how she made this GIF. I’m pretty sure she used other softwares aside from photoshop alone.

I love how she uses geometrical shapes and lines to create this piece.
