New pinned post for 2026- it’s been a while!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I follow from my main, @neighvember

This is a blog for my pup, Archer, who is a Labrador Retriever mixed with a few other breeds that I acquired in the fall of 2020 from Craigslist. I certainly feel I won the Craigslist lottery as Archer has been the perfect first dog as an adult. He has traveled across the country with me about 5 times now, once in a plane! I can’t believe we’ve been together for almost 6 years and I hope we have many more together going on adventures.

Now you’re also likely to see me include pictures of my adventure cat, Theodore Russell Webster- most commonly known as Theo in our household. I adopted him from a local shelter in the fall of 2024 after finding out he was being fostered only 5 minutes from me. He’s a gremlin and a goblin and is starting to become more cuddly as he matures, much to my delight.

the bravest, best boy left us way too soon on tuesday, just 20 days after he was diagnosed with cancer. we didn't expect it at all, but his body started to betray him and it was obvious how tired he was. we spent the entire day in the garden he loves to nap in, feeding him and telling him how great he is, and that's where he was put to rest, with the last intact hippo toy we had left and one of my socks - because he always loved stealing those. he was my north star and my greatest source of joy, and the world has gotten a whole lot dimmer without him and his unshakeable, goofy enthusiasm in it. i miss him more than i could ever explain, and love him even more than that.

thanks for being so supportive and seeing him for the superstar he was and always will be. he would have loved all of you, too.

i'll never be of the "we don't deserve dogs" opinion, it's like saying we don't deserve the egyptian pyramids or the great wall, or corn. our ancestors literally made dogs from scratch bit by bit, we deserve dogs just as much as we deserve apple trees
