a dog will understand what you want and what they want. when this circle becomes a venn diagram, the dog experiences being Bad Dog. when doggo is not allowed upon the couch but wishes to be on couch, doggo may sneak onto couch, but doggo will know they are doing a Bad. they may try to hide the behavior or evidence of having not been a Good Dog, because they feel Bad about it. they have a conscience without a firm sense of morality

whereas a cat 100% understands morality and doesn't give a shit

Normally I don’t write in-post meta on gifsets but this is so wild to me because I think this actually reveals something really interesting about angelic culture. I say that while thinking about the deleted scene from 15.19 where Michael asks after Cas: when Dean’s grief-stricken silence tells Michael (who has also just lost his own interspecies partner) everything he needs to know about what happened to Castiel, the condolences he offers echo all of this.

“He was a good soldier,” Michael says, and that’s not the highest praise an angel can bestow upon another angel. That’s the only praise an angel can give one of their own. This is what their entire culture is built around. They are soldiers and that’s it.

It’s fascinating and devastating.
