What is palo santo?
Palo santo (literally meaning “holy wood”) comes from a tree native to South America. Like white sage, this is commonly used for cleansing and purification purposes. You simply light the end of it and waft the smoke around the area, person, or object you wish to cleanse.
People use palo santo rather than sage in smoke cleansing for a variety of reasons. One such reason is that white sage is an endangered plant; some prefer not to use white sage bought from a store because of this (although you can always grow your own). Some people find the aroma of palo santo to be more appealing than the smell of white sage; palo santo has a sweet odor with hints of mint, citrus, and pine. An added side benefit is that the smoke has the tendency to repel mosquitoes and other bugs.
Palo santo keeps energy grounded and opens us up for a deeper connection to the earth. In addition, it is said to enhance creativity and bring good fortune. It has healing benefits as well; it can relieve the symptoms of a common cold, inflammation, asthma, stress, anxiety, depression, emotional pain, and more. It can be simmered and made into a tea, and an essential oil is also available.
An energy healer in my area that I have been to a number of times uses palo santo for smoke cleansing at the end of each session. She wafts the smoke around her patient to cleanse and ground their energy and form a protective bubble around them to prevent taking on further negativity from their surroundings. I have found the aroma and feeling it imparts to be quite soothing. She also uses it in combination with white sage for cleansing an area – be it a shop, a home, or a room – in much the same way.
If you’ve never tried palo santo before and can find it, I absolutely recommend giving it a try!
What do you think witchcraft is?
Do you think it’s pretty crystals and a bunch of herbs?
Do you think it’s talking to animals and dancing in the rain?
Do you think it’s rose incense and doing tarot with your friends?
WELL GUESS WHAT
IT CAN BE IF THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
*AGGRESSIVELY THROWS GLITTER*
But it can also be blood.
It can be dancing in a storm through a forest.
It can be darkness and wild.
It can be speaking with spirits under the pale moon light.
It can be the chaos and madness that you could only dream of.
*holds out brownies*
IM REBLOGGING THIS FOR THE NOTES ALONE BECAUSE EVERY UNIQUE DESCRIPTION OF WITCHCRAFT IN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL @0@

Tasseomancy: The Reading of Tea Leaves
a divination or fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments.
The terms derive from the French word tasse (cup), which in turn derives from the cognate Arabic word tassa, and the Greek suffixes -graph (writing), -logy (study of), and -mancy (divination).
Divination attempts to gain insight into the natural world through intuitive interpretation of synchronistic events.

Rose Water is My Religion
No, really. I have a shrine built for it on my skin.
Ok, my little noobs. Let’s talk about rose water and why I worship it: rose water is a gift to humankind and it’s the closest thing to a miracle drug there is (even though it’s not a drug). And honestly, I feel that it is not talked about enough for the absolute beauty that it is.
Woah there, A! What’s so special about rose water?
Well, I’m glad you asked! Here’s what some things that are special about rose water:
It can get rid of zits faster than you can say ‘Holy crickets!’
Got a giant zit that’s bigger than your face and don’t know what do to? Spray it with some rose water and voila! Watch that ugly slugger disappear in just a few hours. Don’t believe me? Give it a try yourself. I promise results! (You can also just wet a cotton ball or tissue in rose water and dab it on your ginormous zit.)
It can get rid of dark circles and reduces/prevents eye puffiness.
Soak cotton pads in rose water for a few minutes and then leave these pads on your eyes for at least 15 minutes. Poof! Puffy eyes are a goner. If you repeat this on a daily basis, you are sure to get rid of dark circles over time.
It revitalizes, hydrates, and moisturizes your skin and leaves it with a refreshing glow.
Keep rose water in a spray bottle and spray your face with it throughout the day. It contains Vitamins A and C as well as antioxidants. It also has natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
It has benefits for all skin types.
Rose water is equally beneficial to all skin types. It can sooth sensitive and irritated skin, cleanse oily skin, and helps reduce acne. It is also great at balancing the natural pH of the skin.
It can reduce aging and wrinkles and tightens pores.
Rose water is a natural astringent. It can cleanse and tighten pores and skin. It is great for anti-aging and smoothing out lines.
It can be used as a makeup setting spray.
If you spray rose water lightly over your face after finishing your makeup, it can nicely set your makeup and give you a refreshing glow and a dewy finish on your makeup.
Promotes hair growth/regrowth.
If added to your shampoo or conditioner bottles (or even just sprayed directly on your scalp), rose water is great at increasing blood supply to the scalp and promoting hair regrowth. It is also great for soothing an irritated or itchy scalp and helps reduce dandruff. It softens and conditions hair and reduces inflammation of the scalp.
It reduces redness in skin.
Rose water can diminish the redness caused by enlarged capillaries because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
It can be used as a makeup remover.
You can pour rose water on a cotton ball and gently massage your skin to remove makeup.
It can help soothe sunburns.
Its cool and soothing properties can help calm sunburnt skin and can disinfect skin to prevent irritation and infections.
It can give you smooth and pink lips.
Apply rose water to your lips daily to make your lips naturally soft and pink.
It can be used for aromatherapy.
Rose water can be very relaxing to the mind and body. If added to a hot bath, it relieves fatigue, helps keep skin smooth and firm, improves mood, and reduces stress. It is a mild sedative and anti-depressant and relieves nervous tension.
Last but not least: it smells DIVINE. No, I mean really. It smells like the heavens. Just the smell of rose water is enough to make anyone’s day cheerful. And best of all? It has NO side effects!
Do you see why I worship rosewater now? It literally is good for EVERYTHING, has a celestial fragrance, and has absolutely NO side effects.
But, A, how can something be so absolutely perfect and have no negative sides? You tell me, my noob friend! I keep waiting for the day that someone announces to me that rose water has some deadly toxins in it because one thing couldn’t possibly have this many benefits and have no catch to balance it out. But for now, I believe that the universe decided to give us a beautiful gift and I am more than happy to accept it!
So, have you built your shrine yet?
I want to make rose water now
I believe this refers to actual rose water aka rose hydrosol. I’ve seen a lot of people refer to rose decoctions and tinctures as rose water. THAT’S NOT THE CASE! don’t ever put alcohol on your face!! It will dry you out and destroy your skin, I promise!
Here is a how-to on making rose hydrosol/rose water!

The Hedge Witch
Hedge craft is a path that is somewhat shamanic in nature, as they are practitioners of an Earth-based spirituality. These are the ones who engage in spirit flight and journey into the Other world. A bird of one kind or another is usually associated with the Hedge Witch, most commonly the raven and the goose. The term “hedge” signified the boundary of the village and represents the boundary that exists between this world and the spiritual realm. Their main function is mediator between the spirits and people. They may also work as a herbal healer or midwife. Some claim it to be the continuation of the practices of the cunning folk and wise-women, while others say that it is a modern tradition.
