it’s only a silhouette that’s visible in the leader’s room, sitting on her bed with her chin rested on her knees, her catlike eyes glued to the falling drops of rain collecting on the glass window. how many hours had she been sitting there consumed by her own thoughts? she doesn’t care to measure the time—- it’s going by so slowly anyway.
the air is still and quiet in the room, only the hum of the ac and the tick-tick-tick of the clock filling her ears. the only light comes from beneath the crack in the door… but it’s faint and barely even noticeable. then the room illuminates, her phone’s black screen replaced by a bright light. she squints, surprised by the sudden brightness, but her heart falls in her chest at the notifications popping up on her screen.
four messages… all from HIM. it’s been forever, she thinks, since they’ve last had a proper conversation. and it’s partly her fault… partly… her thumbs idly hover over the keyboard, unsure what to say or if she should respond anyway. should her twin sister find out, it would lead to a fight, and she isn’t mentally prepared to argue.
love is funny, she thinks. her love for him is different from the love she holds for her sister; even then, they’re equally powerful forms of love that clash. ultimately, she had to make a decision… and that is how she lost the only prince she’s ever had, the only relationship gone right. her feelings are still there—- and it’s perhaps because what forced them apart isn’t a change in heart. a nostalgic smile tugs at her lips at the sight of his name in his contacts, forgetting to change it once everything had ended. still, she types, ignoring the nagging sound of her sister’s voice in her head.

› are you sure you’re not drunk?
› not that i mind… i’ve been thinking a lot about you.
she pauses, lips pressing together as she wonder if she’s to send the last message. but fuck it, she thinks… and she sends.
› i miss you. i’ll be there in ten minutes.
she pulls herself off her bed, quickly dresses, and heads out the door. it’s a quick walk in the darkness. it’s home to her—- the shadows. perhaps it’s not logical for her to be walking around that late at night, but she doesn’t care. she walks… her feet remembering the way to his place without much thought on her part. and she makes her way up to his apartment and rings the doorbell.
