It was the Great Yorkshire Show last week. Here are some absolute units.
The gardens at Sudeley Castle were gorgeous. There was a ruined Tithe Barn with plants climbing all over it and an odd obsession with elephants plus lots of lovely planting.
Some details from Westminster Abbey. We were mainly there for Anne of Cleves but obviously it's full of the great and good (and not so good).
Just got back from a special holiday / pilgramage around the South of England to visit the final resting places of the six wives of Henry VIII. These are their actual burial sites (in the order we visited).
Peterborough Cathedral for Katharine of Aragon
Westminster Abbey for Anne of Cleves
St Peter ad Vincula Chapel at the Tower of London for Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard
St George's chapel at Windsor Castle for Jane Seymour
St Mary's Church at Sudeley Castle for Katherine Parr
Went to Manchester Museum at 8am yesterday to visit their special Triceratops exhibition before it ends this weekend. Felt kind of like we were doing something secret going into the museum so early!
This is an actual Triceratops skull and what's really sad is that when this exhibit closes it is being shipped back to the US to the owner - not a museum, just a private person. Seems wrong to me.
Where are they going? What are they doing?
An extra couple of pictures from our holiday. This shark is right outside the door to my hotel room. It's our final night here tonight and we only just noticed that it gets lit up at night!
Ehhh... it kind of reminds me of the ending for Jaws 2...
We're in Margate this week. Just been to Joss Bay round the coast from Margate but got chased away by the rain. I've been ship-spotting using
MarineTraffic Live Ships Map. Discover information and vessel positions for vessels around the world. Search the MarineTraffic ships databas
There are a couple of fields of wind turbines visible in the North Sea from here. And a beautifully maintained lighthouse behind where we were sat.
Flowers in the garden
Cathedral Approach, Manchester.
I had those drops put in my eyes this morning that make your pupils go really large. Everything is a bit blurry at the moment.
When I looked at this picture I thought this was a close-up shot of a panelled door with a brightly coloured wreath wrapped around the door handle. Then I read the tags and zoomed in to figure out what it actually is. Had to reblog so that I can look at it again when my eyes are normal.
fuck it, Toshiro Mifune fancam set to Kate Bush
hey op, what’s it like being a goddamned genius?
every so often, someone reblogs this from me and not OP (hi @majortomwaits!) and i get to look through the notes before i go cry bc mifune was So Handsome. highlights include:
young folk who have never beheld him discovering his beauty
lesbians and straight men saying “if i had to pick a dude”
wailing and gnashing of teeth, generally
“this was BEFORE stranger things, the vibes are that strong”
(My New Favorite) HE IS SO GENDER (y'all are so right, the man Performed Masculinity like no other, but then The Vulnerability)
agreeing with me that OP has the biggest, juiciest brain ever
Lucas wanted him for Obi-Wan Kenobi *rolling in the deep plays in the background*
hi hello @anais-ninja-bitch! firstly, a big thanks to you, personally, from your very first comment to this latest addition
i tend to keep my stuff in the tags, but i just want to say that the amount of praise for this puts the biggest smile on my face and one of the greatest things for me, too, is going through the tags simply to see all the different reactions people have to this little video
i just want to say thanks to everyone for their kind words, that’s all, i’m glad that you’re all enjoying it
We took the steam train from Porthmadog to Beddgelert so I've got some photos of the journey via Aberglaslyn, the train itself and the harbour in Porthmadog. I really wanted to take the little train up Snowden but it was all booked up so this was second choice but it was a nice trip anyway.
On holiday in Wales this week. Absolutely beautiful weather considering it's September. So far we've been to Anglesey Sea Zoo, Black Rock Sands and today we took the Welsh Highland railway from Porthmadog to Beddgelert. I'll put the railway pics in a separate post but here are a few from previous days.
View from my bedroom window.
Cuttlefish at Anglesey Sea Zoo.
A couple of views of Black Rock sands. Lovely in the evening sunshine but a really unusual beach because you can actually drive into the sand and park pretty much wherever you like. It was quieter in the evening when we were there fortunately as I don't think I'd like it when it's really busy.
Sorry if it’s a little cramped- had to make this all fit in ten photos. Hope you guys like it….. and again…. sorry Andrew

I haven’t seen this in years and yet it is burned into my memory forever.
Oh the memory this just dredged up for me. I was staying over at my friend's house when I was about 14 and her parents had been out to a party that night. We were already in bed and asleep before they got back and they must have got verrry drunk because my friend's mother wandered into our room in the middle of the night, sat on the edge of my friend's bed and peed on the floor. Then completely unaware, she got up and stumbled out again.
We just sat in bed and watched in silence. My poor friend jumped up and scrubbed the floor - she was absolutely mortified of course. I didn't know what to say but it seemed like she wasn't surprised by it whereas I was totally shocked because I'd never seen either of my parents drunk. We didn't talk about it in the morning or ever again after that...
Northern lights visible all over the UK tonight. We headed up to the nearest high point that was relatively free of lights and this was what we managed to snap. Not as good as some I've seen on Twitter but still pleased with it as we've never experienced it before.
This was taken on the Edenfield Road above Rochdale. And lots of people had the same idea - layby car-park was full. Difficult to get a picture without bright car headlights getting in the way.
The beach at St Bees in Cumbria. Lovely bright day but very chilly. Couldn't stay out for long as the wind was giving me an ice-cream headache, if you know what I mean.
