I think with all this current controversy circulating, a very serious problem has also been overlooked by the fandom.

The collective dismissal of black fans' concerns has given way to more assertive racism, as seen with that one fool who decided to say a slur at the Glitch comic panel. And in front of children, mind you!

While I appreciate Glitch's response, with this happening, I've also come to realize, and maybe other people as well, that I now have to worry about my friends and me hearing slurs when attending the movie theatre event.

This had not crossed my mind ONCE before this, and by essentially labelling everything that's happened as a "nothing burger drama," certain people have essentially taken this as silent approval and have thus been emboldened to be hateful.

It's more upsetting because if I already face racism outside of the fandom, why is it fair that a place that once made me feel safe and happy is now another ground zero for discomfort and wariness?

I'm wearing armor in a place I didn't think required it.

I'm saying this, not with the intent to cancel the show, but to urge people to view the situation with more nuance. This is hurtful, and by claiming that people are "sensitive" for being uncomfortable, you are basically telling someone to wear armor in what should be everyone's safe place.
