Honestly, I still think Phoebe was an absolute cunt about what does and does not constitute as a mental disability/disorder. I meant that autism was a mental disability in that it fucks with your mind/head rather than your body, but maybe they thought I meant intellectual or learning disabilities instead?
Honestly, maybe it's just that there's a large overlap between neurodivergence and what most people accept as mental disabilities, but I genuinely do not think anyone else I've spoken about this with/to in the past has ever "um ackshually"d me about it, and since Phoebe was being a cunt to me anyway, I half-think they were gaslighting me. Babe AO3 is a nonprofit. They do not exist under the ethics of capitalism. Fanfiction is legal because no money is ever exchanged around it. (All the money given to AO3 is used to maintain their servers and pay their lawyers to help keep fanfiction legal.)
Fanfiction is one of the few things in this world - probably the one singular form of entertainment that does not exist within the confines of capitalism. So by your own logic, even if you hate some of the content on AO3, it's inherently the only ethical thing to consume in the whole world.
