Introducing Aero!

I had my Rogue IUD Arm Removal procedure (a hysteroscopy) a couple weeks ago and it went really well! It would've been nice to, y'know, NOT had to do that, but it went about as well as it could have gone.

The doctor's office has been excessively weird about the whole thing.

At my pre-op appointment, the doctor (who I'd never met before; I always see the female NPs) was discussing potentially doing a hysterectomy if he couldn't remove the errant piece, to which I wasn't opposed, but had not really considered.

We discussed how a vaginal hysterectomy probably wouldn't be possible bc I haven't had children, but he said he could test it by, essentially, grabbing onto the uterus and giving it a pull to see if it was "willing to drop." I had learned mere minutes before that "to drop" means "to prolapse..."

So. This dude was offering to attempt to prolapse my uterus at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon. 🫩

"It's not fun, but it only lasts a minute or two," is what he said. 🫩

I declined.

I'm so glad the procedure went well and that I can NEVER EVER go back to this office.

I just found out that it's Women's Health Month!

Last Wednesday, I went to the gyno for some pelvic pain and they found that my IUD was sitting too low, so it had to be removed.

Instead of being T-shaped, it came out L-shaped because an entire arm of it is embedded in the muscle of my uterus. 2 NPs and 1 ultrasound tech said it was urgent that I get scheduled with the doctor, ASAP. The scheduler called it "an emergency" when they talked to the practice manager to see where they could fit me into the schedule.

They scheduled me EIGHT DAYS later.

Then they let me leave with NO info about the severity of the situation, the treatment for it, what would be happening at my next appointment, etc etc etc.

I called back the next day to let them know I was having some stabbing pains when I stood up from sitting down, and to see if we could hustle up the scheduling. They transferred me to a nurse who told me to take ibuprofen.

I explained that I wasn't worried about the pain so much as the reason behind the pain. She was clicking through my file and said something like, "I can definitely understand being concerned about a displaced IUD," and I told her that NO, I was concerned about the BROKEN PIECE THAT THEY LEFT BEHIND and what it was doing to cause pain. She said she'd talk to the doctor and get back to me.

She called back a couple hours later and said that the doctor said it was "non-emergent," which is crazy because he certainly didn't look at it and, if anything, looked at the ultrasound images from before it started causing pain. She also told me they'd go ahead and schedule me for the surgical hysteroscopy that I would need to have it removed, that way when I came in on Thursday (tomorrow), that can be my pre-op appointment instead of having to come back for that before the procedure.

So if I hadn't called, they literally would have done not a damn thing in order to take care of this issue that happened in their office.

I've been aaaabsolutely furious about this for the entire week I've been waiting.

I called around to different doctors to see if anyone else could see me, but no one is taking on new patients before the end of June.

So! On Monday, I get to go under general anesthesia while these idiots take a medical grade roto-rooter to my uterus.

anyway I love things like having independence, being intelligent, taking pride in my skills, not feigning incompetence, referring to myself as a woman instead of a girl, aging unapologetically, having pores, stretch marks, grey hairs, wrinkles and body fat, listening to my body's needs, eating as much as I need to satisfy my hunger, being bare-faced, wearing comfortable clothes, etcetera
