My Top Twenty-Five Stargate Characters ☆ #09 ↳ Janet Fraiser
A story: by me
I sucessfully left the bookshop with my hands balled In my pockets and without any books. Rewarded myself by going to the library.
Bloody hell, I read the Selection ONCE and now amazon won’t stop recommending all these YA high romance series - like no please stop, I needed bad romance then, I don’t now. Find me some fantasy. PLEASE STOP WITH THE ROMANCE
"My being charming, Harriet, is not quite enough to induce me to marry; I must find other people charming -one other person at the least. And I am not only not going to be married at present, but have very little intention of ever marrying at all."
Emma Woodhouse ~ Emma by Jane Austen
"What are we drinking to?" "The living," Said Rhy. "The dead," Said Alucard and Lila at the same time. "We're being thorough," added Rhy.
A Conjuring of magic ~ V.E.Schwab.
"Life isn't made of choices," Said Holland. "It's made of trades. Some are good, some are bad, but they all have a cost."
A Conjuring of Light ~ V.E.Schwab
We were drunk on anticipation and good old fashioned liquor under stars that seemed to belong to us to rearrange at will.
The Rebel of the Sands ~ Alwyn Hamilton
Perhaps the ache of homesickness was a fair price to pay for having so many good people in her life.
The long way to a small angry planet ~Becky Chamber
For those who like sci-fi but not the gun fights and the high speed chases and green good ect I recommend "The long way to a small angry planet" by Becky Chambers. It's about the crew of a tunnelling crew who get a new assignment and it's a bit like firefly. I really enjoyed it!
"Word of mouth is a more effective method of advertisement than typeset words and exclamation points on paper pamphlets or posters. It is impressive and unusual news, the sudden appearance of a mysterious circus."
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
THINGS I AM NOT OVER ABOUT DOCTOR WHO
The Doctor NEVER FOUND OUT MISSY WAS COMING BACK TO STAND WITH HIM. MISSY AND THE MASTER LAUGHING LIKE THE PSYCHOPATHS THEY ARE AFTER KILLING EACH OTHER. THEY WERE SO GODDAM AWESOME.
I'm trying to pack and seriously Where Did All These Books Come From
"We were the people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edges of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between stories."
Margaret Atwood. The Handmaids Tale
It's strange to remember how we used to think, as if everything were available to us, as if there were no contingencies, no boundaries, as if we were free to shape and reshape forever, the ever expanding perimeters of our lives.
The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood
Yesterday my manager saw I was reading the Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood and took the book off me. She then demanded a pen and underlined all the other Margaret Atwood books 'i HAVE to read' before handing me both the book and the annotated front page and leaving again. So my manager is a huge Atwood fan and we have been exchanging book recs since.
I've got tickets to 'an evening with V.E.SCHWAB' when she is in the UK and I am so excited 😁
Six of Crows Duology
I am unapologetically in love with every single one of those thieving conning kids.
I have reviews expressing that love, but maybe it can be summed up in the fact that I read both books in three days?
Review: {Six of Crows}, {Crooked Kingdom}
