Okay , I can't find the specific post from PassionPeachy about how ALOT of discourse about the TADC and the creators surrounding it could've been used for politicians who caused harm. Couldn't agree more myself. I wanted to post my opinion on chat instead of a reblog, but I can't find it, so I'm posting it here. Look, you don't HAVE to like the creator nor their creation/s; nor even want engage with after the things they've done or said. That being said, why is it mostly entertainers/artists getting more flack compared a killer that bashes skulls open like pumpkins. Doxing and harrassment should NOT be your go-to when it comes to just hating on any media. Nothing in life should make you wanted to value a human being less to the point that their SAFETY is an option and not a right. This comes across as A-log behavior that pushes people to either kill themselves or become the worse version of themselves.
Imo this is extremely disingenuous. The amount of black bloggers who had to fight of racsism due to tadc and its fandom is huge.
Focusing on politicians will, of course have an impact. It should get focus beacuse it will affect and change things.
But then what? Racism will not dissappear if suddenly all politicians get dragged and held accountable. Racism is so caked into everyone it will take accountability on an individual level. Yes, that means every actor, creator, and me and you. Saying "im not racist" dose not mean your in fact not racist.
It wasnt a politician who pretended to whip me in 3rd grade, It was one of my classmates who went on to college to try to become a teacher. In fact i remember distinctly it was the day after a local politician came out to make a speech against racism. Do you think that politician tought my classmate that? Or was it their parents and the small things around them. The ads that only showed eurocentric beauty standers or, the cartoons that only showed white children saving the day while their black best freind cheered them on?
However, and I want to make this clear, I do not think people should be harassed/doxxed. The internet is still the internet, theres no way of knowing if these people truly changed or not. At the end of the day were all strangers. And cant pretend to know eachother.
Yet, If we cant even hold people on our level accountable for their actions, how are we going to stand up to someone above us?
Is what me and other black bloggers experince considered less important beacuse its on a smaller scale? Beacuse what, we didnt get our skulls bashed in by your favorite content creator?
Of course your point has some merits, the internet is not the end all be all of everything. But it is a cop-out when someone brings up racism or anything else to say "Well what about politicians?"
You're right. Gooseworks should be hold be accountable. And I realize what I've said isn't okay either. No one should feel like an alien in their space and down-playing it is a very jackass thing to do. My point was that Kane Pixels, Vivziepop, and many more were doxed and have their safety thrown into the blender when could've been blocked or simply not interacting. Don't like Viv's work, How Stolas is written is... questionable a least. But I don't go after her nor dox. I don't get the appeal of that and the energy is better used for elsewhere. I don't watch Gooseworks, just damn.
