I checked 40 fanfics especially for you about Ibrahim/Suleiman, and the most popular one has 700 likes. Well, this couple isn't particularly popular, to be honest, we don't talk much about it here.
Wild to me. It's like when I was watching Teen Wolf and was sure that Scott and Stiles would be the biggest ship but it wasn't.
The İbrahim Süleyman tension is palpable. Although as of late (episode 35 to 45 i think) I'm seeing the Hürrem and İbrahim ship. The cat and mouse game is lovely with both claiming to be the cat.

I just finished reading "Betrayals" from Five Ways to Forgiveness, and just ... sigh. It's a beautiful story, gorgeously and gently written, but I could see the ending coming up Broadway from the first introduction of Chief Abberkam four pages in.
It's disappointing that for all her amazing work around gender and sexuality, Le Guin pretty much never could resist tumbling her characters into bed with one another, even if it takes her four whole books to get there, as it does in the Earthsea cycle. I mean, I get it--Le Guin was allo, the vast majority of her audience is allo, but all the same I wish she had given us some real ace stories.
(No, I do not count Left Hand of Darkness as a story about asexuality, because the Gethenians are ultimately allosexual beings who feel sexual attraction and a personal, biological, and social desire to fuck when they're in kemmer, even if outside of kemmer they don't have sex and their gender doesn't fit along a male/female binary, and even if they spend most of their lives out of kemmer.)

And also, Le Guin never hides the ending. She is pretty upfront about where the story is going so she never tried to lure you into a story about sex.
Something seems to have been lost in translation, so allow me to explain what I meant in the OP.
I think that the relationships in Tehanu and "Betrayals" are beautifully written and organic to the characters. I'm also glad that Ged and Tenar and that Chief Abbakam and Yoss found each other and are happy together.
However, I'm disappointed that Le Guin couldn't find her way clear to write these relationships (or any other relationships, for that matter) as ace. One of the things I really loved about Ged was that he was single and apparently uninterested in sex. It was something about him that I really identified with, so it made me a little sad when that changed in Tehanu, even as I was happy for him and Tenar and even as their relationship made total sense. I also would have loved to see what a loving ace relationship between Chief Abbakam and Yoss would have looked like.
For the record, I have never felt that Le Guin—or any other author, for that matter—was trying to lure me into a story about sex, and I'm certainly not opposed to anyone writing stories about or containing sex or romance. Sex and romance are good things. Sex and romance are important. Many of my favorite stories feature either or both of those things, and I'm not opposed to sex and romance being in those stories. I'm not even opposed to the sex and romance of either Tehanu or "Betrayals," even as I wish that Le Guin had made different choices.
I think that you and other people who have commented on this OP are missing the larger point of what I said. What I'm talking about is the lack of ace representation in literature, film, and television. What I'm talking about is the all-pervasive nature of allonormativity and how I feel about that. What I'm talking about is wanting to see myself as an asexual reflected in the stories I read and watch and about how there's pretty much nothing out there for me in that respect. If you or anyone else have a problem with that, well, that's your problem. There's nothing I can do to fix it, and I'm not even going to try.
Your last point about wanting more ace rep I won't talk about. I didn't oppose that. I'm only interested in you wanting Le Guin to not have written the stories that she did in the way that she did.
It is interesting that you saw Ged as uninterested in sex when Ged was a cult member indoctrinated into celibacy by a cult who considered women base, unpure, unclean, something that takes away men's virtue. The school on Roke enforced celibacy and kept away women to consolidate power and keep control over it's members.
Ged having sex with Tenar is not a story of romance or carnal pleasure. It's a story of liberation. The sex is integral to Ged becoming his own person, becoming a man. This is not a fantasy story where the boy gets the girl as a side plot. The sex is the climax of Ged's "hero's journey".
A smaller scale liberation is going on for Tenar too as she is liberated from the roles she was given. A simpler more grounded one as she was a mother and wife and seeking pleasure was not suitable and yet she did. Certainly a liberation though not as drastic as leaving behind a cult.
Betrayals is also a story where the sex is integral. It starts with the fawns stealing some pleasure they were denied, it ends with lonely people maybe finding some pleasure themselves. The whole structure of the story is sex and the pleasure people can drive from one another despite the tribulations of life. I really don't know what would be left if we took out sex. It is a short story. Not much else was going on.

OP as you have said, it took 4 books for the characters to have sex. That's how long it took Stephanie Meyer the Mormon to let Bella and Edward fuck.
And as girlprince said, was she supposed to resist sex? Is it sin? With an irresistible pull? Must we fight the base urge? Must we be pure? Why "resist"?
Le Guin tells the tragedy before it happens. When people are being smuggled through no-man's land she tells you that there was a bad link in the connection and soon the group gets caught. When she introduces a baby, she tells you it is sickly and will die, soon the baby dies. There is something masterful about not needing your tragedies to be shocking for them to be impactful.
Similarly she let's you know the coming victory, characters speak in the past tense when going through impossible odds, letting you know that they have persevered and came through. Yet it is still satisfying to see them do it.
All the while she wasn't even writing about chracters, she was just fantasising about different society structures and the chracters were her way of telling it.
In Turkish "There is helva if you'd have"
I know the show does a good job of spelling it out that helva is made when someone dies but I just wanted to reiterate, when Hürrem had helva cooked after Isabella dissappeared she was saying Isabella was dead. Similarly when Mahidevran had helva cooked after Hürrem was exiled she was saying Hürrem was as good as dead.
And twice now it made me get up and cook helva. I don't even like helva all that much. Nobody in my house likes helva.
It is a rather easy dessert and I can give the recipe if you'd like. No special ingredients. Just flour, water, oil or butter and sugar.
When I was little my favourite platformer game was William and Sly where you play as a fox named Sly and you go around a forest finding stuff. One of the mechanics of the game was that there were these cute little fairyflies you could find and scary mobs that could take away your fairyflies if they hit you. I was, for some reason, very lesbianly attached to the idea of being the protector of these little fairyflies
Sly is a butch lesbian. To me. Those are her fairyflies btw, those organge glowy things, that's what I was so lesbian about.
In the second game there are these beautiful creatures stuck in ice things and when you save them they follow you around until you have to hand them over to their evil father (evil father is my hc, I have no idea who that man is) and in return he gives you their ability of flight-ish-jump.
I was of course lesbian about these ones too. Something about saving girl is very lesbian to me.

You genuinely cannot have any meaningful understanding of Hurrem as a character if you treat her relationship with Suleyman and the family she created with him as a purely traumatic slash peripheral note in her life and not as a core element of who she is and who she chooses to be and I say this as someone who doesn't really give a fuck about Suleyman outside Hurrem. You see, her relationship with Suleyman, the name he gave her, the kids they had, the position and status and power she got through them are all connected. This is her man, these are her kids, this is her name, this is her harem. When you somehow dissociate all these from her "real authentic self" prior to the kidnapping, call her Alexandra and reduce her ambition and proclivities to her dead parents (?), you just end up patronising her and projecting your own modern issues as a contemporary woman onto the character. Her father's identity and profession is not more relevant to her authentic self than Suleyman's identity. Both are men with actual authority over her by the way and through that lens her father is not a more legitimate/acceptable authority figure in her life than Suleyman is. What matters is how the character chooses to define herself and if she does this through her new name, her relationship, the family she created and her current position, then just let her do it and appreciate her for who she actually is in canon instead of who you want her to be to scratch that itch in your brain.

I adored Nigar and Hürrem's friendship. The fallout of the relationship was done so nicely too. Outside forces broke them apart and it was so sad watching them be enemies. I just loved that plot.
