The captain barely repressed rolling his eyes at the idea - if he really wanted to kill the devil, it surely wouldnât be via shunpo - before grasping more tightly onto the otherâs shoulder, using his previous evaluations to push off into the flash step. He was actually suprised at how dense the other was, sure the demon was beefier than him but he was still slightly shorter, even then it seemed ridiculous how dense the other was. Perhaps their anatomy was entirely more different than he was aware, beyond the obvious horns on the otherâs head.Â
Still, with a suprising amount of effort, he escorted the both of them to his own division, stopping just short of it so as not to appear in front of his subordinates giving the demon a lift. Attempting to hide the effort that had taken, he could not stop a deep breath escaping him as they returned, his muscles aching - he wasnât the most physically strong, alright.Â
âCome along.â he said once more, mediating his breathing and starting a brisk pace to enter the building, âThis matter must take place within the confines of my office. It is incredibly confidential, you must understand, so do not disappoint me, Kew the Ravager.â
Kew couldnât say heâd ever been shunpoâd around before, which was a little odd now that he really considered it. This was something all Shinigami could do, wasnât it? Surely someone wouldâve offered by now, or some member of Squad 11 wouldâve grabbed him and shunpoâd him to some remote location in an attempt to kill him. Whatever the case was, he didnât know what to expect from the, uh... experience. He also wasnât aware that he weighed more than 300 pounds, or he mightâve been more concerned about that.
âGwuf--!â Kew stumbled when they came to a stop, suddenly finding himself in front of the Sixth Divison. A familiar sight! That was nice, despite the unusual method to get here. âThat felt weird,â he commented, letting out a deep breath of his own, though he didnât have the chance to say much more than that. Byakuya was already on the move! Which meant Kew had to be too, not about to make him even more impatient! Especially when heâs bothering to use his full name and title like that, heh...
âCominâ,â He assured, following along behind this time. Couldnât help but let out a toothy grin at any Shinigami he saw in the halls. They didnât get picked for this ultra-important, confidential mission! Kew had! Clearly he was a step above these chumps. âI never disappoint, Captain.â That was a lie, probably, but he couldnât think of a time heâd disappointed anyone! And heâs not starting now!
ad-melixraâ:
She blinked at the other before focusing once more on the task at hand - leading the devil through the winding and incredibly confusing hallways that the twelfth prided themselves on - she spoke up, asking monotonously, âWhy do you avoid coming here, Kew-san?â
She had almost expected him not to let her in on any of the knowledge pertaining his species, he seemed so very jumpy here, and even with her below average social reading skills, she could tell that the other was uncomfortable. Though, the more she thought about it, most people who were not members of her own squad seemed to not be the most comfortable whilst dealing with her division - though some may chalk that up to division rivalry, perhaps there was something more to it. Nevertheless, hearing him speak about smell was fascinating to Nemu and definitely peaked her curiosity. âYou have heightened smell?â she asked, turning to him once more, the slightest glint in her cerulean gaze, âDoes each captain smell distinct and different or do they all simply smell strongly? Does everyone have a smell to you? Is it just humanoids or do animals and hollows and things register on your senses as well?â
He probably should've lied. Kew wasn't sure how to feel about how interested the other was in his abilities-- it was kinda flattering in a way! He didn't mind answering questions about how he, uh, worked. So maybe it was fine, maybe these weren't pre-dissection questions! ââCause I heard Iâd get experimented on,â he replied, blunt. Another thing he shouldâve lied about, maybe. â... And itâs kinda scary in here.â
As for the rest of her questions, Kewâs eyes returned to meet her gaze, answering the first one with a nod. âUh-- Everyone smells different, yeah, no two are the same. Captains can really overpower everyone though, thereâs some I hafta try and tune out. One gave me a headache for awhile, pretty sure itâs 11âČs.â She didnât ask that. Kew shrugged. âHumanoids-- Oh, yeah. Humanoids do, and hollows too. Not animals, or if they do, itâs really faint.â Not that heâd ever walked up to a bear and tried to smell it, or something. Hm, thatâs a thought, did Nemu not smell like anything because she was... uh... an animal? No, that didnât make any sense. Although it was easy for him to imagine now, that she was a hamster or tiny dog piloting a human-shaped mech suit.

Where do you hold your love?
On your shoulders
you hold your love on your shoulders; a weight to bear but one you're not crumbling under. love for you is heavy, big- it makes up everything, the world is comprised entirely of love and you know it. this can make you feel smaller than you'd like to, like you have an obligation to be a part of it, or maybe an obligation to create a love so massive it marks itself as different- greater, a task to take upon yourself. but doesn't all love feel different? and isn't all love great?

âSquads?â Renji asked with a furrowed. âNo, no Kew. No, Romans are.. well people from Rome. Ya know, like Italy? N-never mind,â he shook his head as he realizes it might be futile to go int depth. âIt just means that ya should do as the locals do when ya go visit a foreign land. So when in the Soul Society, do as we do,â he grins. âWhich means celebratinâ yer birthday, since itâs custom to do so.â
âAnd my hair is natural!â Renji protests as itâs mentioned. âUnlike those pink drink of yers that ya like. Tapioca are those ball things in the drinks - the black chewy stuff, or I guess this store does popping boba too,â he shrugs. âRegardless! Letâs go get those pink balls of yers.âÂ
The look Kew was giving Renji only intensified the more 'examples' he gave. Something the lieutenant seemed to work out on his own-- Kew barely knew where he was right now, how the hell was he supposed to know what an Italy was!? He'd just assume it was some famous part of the Rukongai. "Oh," Kew's brows rose. Was that some kind of law? It had to be, it made sense! When you go somewhere, follow that place's rules and stuff. Kew didn't think he really acted like a Seireitei local, but if it was breaking the rules not to celebrate his birthday, then of course he'd accept it!
"I didn't say it wasn't natural! But now I'm suspicious." Kew scoffed. Imagine if Renji was a blonde or something! That'd be real weird, he didn't know if he liked that image. "... 'Ey, what's that mean, it ain't natural? Ugh-- Forget I asked." If he kept asking questions about every weird thing Renji said, they'd be here all day. (Renji could probably say something similar.) "Fine, let's go celebrate! Y'like tapioca? Y'can have mine if I can't eat it."
Couldn't help but make a face as he walked past Renji, leading the way. (Pretty sure he remembered which way the store was...) "Ugh, why 'ya gotta call em that?"

A series of slow blinks greeted the devilâs crazed expression, she hadnât meant to spook the other so very much but sheâd thought heâd probably have been aware of how well surveyed the twelfth was. Nonetheless, she took a step forward again, scanning the otherâs body quickly - this was the first time she has seen such a creature up close and she was very curious - cerulean gaze finding any detail it possibly could in this situation. She replies slowly, a monotonous tone of voice,âI can show you to Mayuri-samaâs office, Kew-san. After all, you said you would deliver them to his office, right?âÂ
She gestured the opposite way heâd been walking - the devil clearly had no idea where anything was in here - and spoke up once more, âIt is that way, I only came because you seemed lost.â
She thought a few more moments about his words, a series of calculations running in her head, perhaps if she guided him, heâd allow her to ask some questions about his species and she could satiate her curiosity, âHow do you know Mayuri-sama isnât here? Is that a feature your kind can possess? Or did you simply see him leave?â
Great, guess this wouldn't be so quick and easy after all. He should've just lied and said the papers were for her! Oh well, at least he'd get a look at what the wretched captain's office looked like. Maybe he wasn't so bad, and his office was filled with stuffed animals. Maybe soul scents were deceiving! "Uh-- Yeah! Thanks, that'd be great, thanks. I, uh-- appreciate it, I guess." Was it really that obvious he had no idea what he was doing? Still, he didnât lag behind, quick to follow. "Never been in here before, eheh. Tried tâavoid cominâ here.â
Speaking of lying, he could've easily lied about her next question to make himself sound less strange-- she even offered him a great excuse! ... Ugh, he couldnât do that. He wasnât very subtle about sniffing constantly. Was probably doing it even more around Nemu, both to keep âwatchâ for Mayuri, and because it was so odd to talk to someone that smelled like nothing. (Was that creepy?) "I sensed he wasnât here,â he said, a technical truth at best, as he tucked the paper bundle under his arm. âBy smell. Heâs, uh, pretty distinct. I mean-- all the captains smell real strong, but him more.â Probably best not to say if that was a compliment or insult.
ad-melixraâ:
âIndeed.â he sighs gently before approaching the devil slowly, gunmetal gaze tracking him up and down carefully, seemingly thinking on something for a few moments. Byakuya was attempting to configure within his mind if he could shunpo the other - that would certainly make this much easier since the 13th division was rather far from his own at the 6th.Â
Seperating his gaze from the devil, he scanned their peripheries briefly, ensuring no one else was in sight - he couldnât be seen as some free transport device after all - but it couldnât be helped that the other male wasnât of the capability to keep up with him. Almost all shinigami could not either, the smug thought entered his brain for but a moment before he focused his attention once more on the task at hand.Â
âAs this is a vitally important task, I would rather us arrive sooner than later.â he prefaced before reaching a slender hand to grip the otherâs shoulder gently, a tad hesitantly for he wished to not spook the other, as it was not common of him to touch people. âI will aid in transporting us faster, with your permission, of course?â
Byakuya was staring at him. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, although Kew struggled to think of a way it could be good. Unless he really liked Kew's outfit today for some reason, the same one he always wore with the spiked belts and gray tank top. (Hah, imagine Blacky wearing something like that, heâd look nuts! He must look so much smaller without his poofy, robes and coat making him look all imposing and dramatic. These were not things he should be thinking about, for all Kew knew, Byakuya had cast some kind of mind-reading Kido.)
Well, if that is what happened, Byakuya didnât call him on it. And his thoughts were revealed as he extended a hand. Impulse demanded Kew to grab it, or swat it away-- he didnât think heâd ever seen Blacky touch another person, what if he was going for a kill!? (That could be the âvitally important task that only Kew could help with,â couldnât it? And why he just looked around for witnesses, holy shit!) Kew flinched as his shoulder was touched, but ultimately stayed in place, thinking he knew what Blacky was talking about. That thing shinigami used to zip around, sometimes. He could drag other people around with that?
âUh-- sure,â Kew agreed, partly out of curiosity for how this was going to work. âGo for it. Iâm gonna be pretty pissed if this kills me, though.â Heâd find a way to haunt Byakuyaâs office.
âWhy donât you do us all a favor and walk off a cliff?â From a very Jealous (and probably fluffy) Elohim to Loqero
Annoyed/Frustrated Sentence Starters (Guest muse: Loqero)
What had he done to deserve this? Loqero didn't think he'd been teasing Elohim that much today, but then again, his bar for that wasn't very high. Or maybe it wasn't just today, that's a strong possibility. "Now why would that be doing you all a favor?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head. "Unless everyone is gonna come and watch me, then I'd consider it! You know, I've never actually done cliff diving before, wouldn't that be fun? Gracefully swan-diving off a cliff into the sea? Hoping you didn't create a kraken waiting for me in there?" Or just remove all the water entirely, which would be kind-of funny, for everyone except Loqero.
"I shouldn't be giving you ideas when you're already mad at me for some reason, should I? But hey, now I'm wondering, was the kraken ever a real thing you made, or just a fairy tale?"

@immovable-forceâ asked:
[Kew, for Nemu] Ah, Squad 12. The one place Kew refused to touch with a 20-foot-pole⊠until today. Some Shinigami wanted him to deliver a few bundles of paperwork, and in exchange, theyâd give him an old set of calligraphy brushes. Heâd been waiting for the captainâs scent to leave the building so he could sneak in, and now was finally his chance! He just had to be quick and careful. Find the captainâs office and get out. How hard could that be?
It was strange, this was the first time for Nemuri to see this creature enter her place of work - she assumed that was why he presumed he could sneak around, even though it was common knowledge that there was rather high surveilance recordings of all of the division and more. It was almost amusing, watching the devil tiptoe through the surveillance footage, clearly not knowing where he was going. As was her job, the shinigami saw fit to intercept the devil to aid in his venture.Â
Her gait was disarmingly quiet and fast, and for someone seemingly so concerned with getting caught, she was surprised she could so easily approach from behind (though she often forgot just how stealthy she was, unnaturally so) and place a slender hand upon the otherâs shoulder firmly.Â
âKew-san? Is there a reason you are sneaking around here?â Her cerulean gaze was seemingly apathetic and she tilted her head in question. âDo you need aid in this?â
"Gkk--!" His whole body jolted like a startled cat at the hand suddenly planted on his shoulder. He practically leaped forward, spinning around and stumbling back a few steps, just to put distance between himself and the unknown threat! (The bundle of paperwork hit the floor with an unceremonious whump, a few pages spilling out.) ... Which was a shinigami, same as any other. A lieutenant, by the looks of the badge around her arm, he knew what those things meant. Crap, he got caught snooping by the lieutenant of Squad 12! Howâs he gonna get outta here!?
Oh, and what's worse? She had no scent. None at all-- so Kewâs nose hadnât let him down. Was she a robot? Would Kew even be surprised if the lieutenant of Squad 12 was a robot?
"How do you--?" Okay, how she knew his name might be the least remarkable thing about what just happened. Kew was already hunched over in a battle stance, looking down at the floor to see the paperwork. "Shit--! I-- Gh, I'm just here to, uh-- Fuck-- deliver this to your captain, some guy from Four was too scared so he sent me." Kew had crouched down at some point in that explanation, scrambling to gather everything, as if a bomb would go off if it stayed on the floor for too long. He soon stood back up-- the pages weren't all even, but hopefully they were in the right order. That was all that mattered, right?
"I know he's not here, d'ya know where his office is?" Kew asked, blinking. "Actually-- You're the lieutenant, right? Can I, uh, just give this to you? I'll get outta your hair real quick, promise."
"I gave you one, ONE, job." From a very grumpy Elijah to Kisama
Annoyed/Frustrated Sentence Starters
âAnd I did do it, asshole!â Kisama shouted, smacking his hand against the nearest table. Gesturing angrily to the shopping bags piled on top of it, filled to the brim with boxes of frozen food. âYou told me to go grocery shopping for healthier food! So thatâs what I did! Instead of Hot Pockets, I got Lean Pockets! How the hell is that not healthy, look, it says itâs a good source of protein right there on the box! What do you mean, I only had one job!?â
iseethefamiliarâ:
It was easy to tell when the thing was getting closer. Hank looked up, his gaze locked to the door as the devil made his way in; he could feel his heart beating so hard in his chest that it made his ears ache, fingers twitching in time to the beat. No one had ever done this before. No one had ever attempted this; devils were feared. Were trapped long enough to get something from, and then immediately killed, the risks of keeping them for too long being far too great. Devils werenât meant to be kept around like pets, for rather obvious reasons; the only thing Hankâs books had on devils were rumors that had dripped down through the generations. Promises of power beyond any imagination were given, and all it took was getting one of these things and killing it the right wayâŠÂ
Kew walked into the room in a mess of hair and rather impressive horns, but Hankâs reaction was immediate. The building had been planned and picked carefully; it was one of the oldest buildings in Detroit, far enough in the outskirts to not draw any attention. The building was one that went down into the ground, almost working as a basement to the floors above; sounds were hidden better than they would be above ground, and no one could peek inside any windows and question any of the rather obvious cult-looking shit that decorated every inch of the room.Â
Hank stood, the bucket of water being thrown over the devil. As expected, he collapsed; now was the time to kill it, if Hank had been after something simplistic. He wasnât, though - it wasnât every day that a devil was walking around Detroit. Especially one that felt this strong; Hank didnât wait to grab the thing, opting to grab him by the horns solely because it felt like a rather easy handle. In the moments when the devil was stunned, Hank acted, pulling him to a small cell in the corner of the room; the walls around it were thick iron bars, and the door matched. It didnât look like anything âdevil holdingâ, but that was just because most didnât look close enough. The entire floor was a three-inch-deep pool of holy water, forcing Kew to either stand, lay, or sit in it at all times.Â
Best case scenario, it worked. Worse case, Hank was probably going to die tonight.Â
The devil was thrown in, and the door was locked behind him. Hank took a few steps away, then; prepared to run, maybe, if he ended up needing to.Â
Everything moved in a blur after he fell. The next thing he could recognize was a hand on his horn, a sensation that even holy water couldn't cover up. "Nnnk--!" Ow! Owowowowowow!! The tugging hurt, Kew letting out a high-pitched whine at the thought of it breaking from getting yanked like this! Despite it, he could feel himself moving, struggling to get his legs and arms to cooperate--
"Guh--!" Too late. In one swift move, he was tossed into some... wet place. *More holy water,* fuckin' great! The pain and heaviness he felt in all his limbs just got a helluva lot worse! For several seconds, all Kew did was lay there and groan to himself. Where was he, anyway...!? Looking up, all he could see were... stripes? Gray stripes? No, those-- those were bars. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...! Snap out of it! He got caught off-guard, but he couldn't just stay stunned and stupid like this! Finally lifting his arm up, Kew struggled to push himself onto his back, at least to get his face out of the water. Who knows what would happen if he accidentally drank some of it, eek... Sounded like it'd burn.
It took some effort with his horns (which thankfully weren't broken, that was one thing to be happy about) but he managed to flip over. First time he'd struggled with anything physically since he was a damn child, guh... Well, at least the watery floor being against his hair was nicer then it being right on his skin. (Hey, maybe his hair would soak up all of it! Wouldn't that be nice? It'd make him look real smart for letting it grow this long.) Looking up didn't give him much perspective though, just more gray. Hnn... he's in a *cage.* Someone dumped holy water on him, and then threw him in a fucking cage. How humiliating.
... He'd break out. There was nothing he couldn't break, even while he was doused in holy water, right? He-- He just needed a second to recover! And sit up, actually, but that sounded like a tall order right now.
"What the fuck," he grumbled, his first coherent words. Whoever had captured him was still in the room, that's for certain! Must be the one with that delicious-smelling soul he detected earlier. Prick...! They must know they have a tasty soul, maybe devils kept attacking him because of it! Put that way, it kinda sounded like Kew deserved it. "The fuck's wrong with you? I'm-- gh-- You can't keep me like this, y'know. M'gonna get out 'n kick your ass!" Real threatening, especially when it sounded like he was straining to say it.Â
"Where are you--?" Stupid question, arguably. He might've been able to spot the guy through the cage bars if he could turn his head to the side a bit more. A better question is... "Who are you?"
