Pierre Dulin - "L’établissement de l’Hôtel national des Invalides" (1710)
Here's a closer look at Philippe and Louis
I tried to figure out who that rando was. I found this document describing the different people, though even after reading, it's not very obvious where each person is placed. I'm pretty sure it's meant to be François-Henri de Montmorency.
I think the resemblence is kind of there? He's the most likely one out of all the people mentionned. Still doesn't explain why he was between the brothers though!
I also read that the Dauphin was there, but that he was painted slimmer than usual and with a brown wig, so he is not very recognizable if you compare with his individual portraits :
"Le peintre a représenté un jeune homme mince et brun, alors que déjà à l’âge de 36 ans d’autres peintres le représentent avec une perruque de cheveux gris et un peu plus enrobé."
So I think the portrait is like this (excuse my mouse writing) :

It's 2:30 in the morning I'm just thinking about their beautiful noses. ;_;
They made him straight 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Watching Liselotte von der Pfalz (1966) in german with a russian dub over it, neither of which I understand. Good thing I have these subtitles to help me.

Philippe really did leave a positive impression to everyone who had to deal with him during this campaign, but truth be told it’s only during the later ones that he really got to dive into the action (including the cavalry charge depicted here!). For now, while his zeal and desire to please were evident, he had to be kept away from anything important, as ordered by Louis XIV… who wanted his own son to play the bigger role, of course.
The two gifts offered to Dubois here are real, but it’s entirely possible that he got them for a different reason! In 1691, Philippe de Chartres’ marriage with one of Louis’ daughters is still fairly recent, and while we don’t have any hard proof of it, it’s very, very, very plausible that Dubois was asked to convince the king’s nephew to agree to it. The Saint-Honoré canonry briefly mentioned here won’t remain on the list of Dubois’ honors for very long though, for reasons that will later be explained…
studying history is like. here's to another beautiful day of not being pregnant and of having no obligation to ever be. thank you women who fight for abortion and contraception and independance from men for another beautiful day of not being pregnant and of having no obligation to ever be
EXACTLY! I am particularly interested in dynastic / genealogical history, and that means to see how many children women had and how old the women died. Sometimes, when I see that a woman died from her teens to her early forties, or married too young, I am “please, don’t die in childbirth”. Most of the time, that’s exactly what happened. Just look up Anna of Bohemia and Hungary (wife of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I), or Claude of France, or Joanna of Austria (Grand Duchess of Tuscany). Sometimes you get whole sagas of mothers and daughters dying the same way, it’s heartbreaking. Even in the 19th and early 20th century you can find that women died in childbirth or due to childbirth related causes, not to mention the ones whose health was forever compromised due to the constant state of childbearing and recovery and conception.
A little comic based on an anecdote by my dearly hated Cosnac, LOL. More below the cut, ainsi que la version française, comme d'hab.
In case anyone wonders, here's the silly hat I'm referring to
(And yes it’s an official hat no he didn't choose it that's just my mental representation of said hat)
I wanted to draw Philippe in his INCREDIBLE Royal Carrousel fit because it's so goddamn fab and perfect 🤌🤌🤌 and I added Marie-Louise because I CAN
And a high definition picture of the OG engraving below that I took from the version of the Carrousel I bought 2 weeks ago 🥰🥰🥰🥰
OMG! This is everything! Monsieur is slaying!

VERSION FRANCAISE ICI.
