I'm starting to hear the Wsy podcast, what episodes do you recommend me ?
Oh, be prepared, anon. This is one of my few fortes in this fandom lol. I turn to this podcast on commutes to work and whenever I’m out doing errands for an extended amount of time. All of these episodes I’ve recommended, ive found myself coming back to them over and over, as well as ones you’d need to hear to really get into the spirit of WSY.
Now, I don’t usually listen to the ones with guests (Owen Benjamin at the end was sort of an exception due to the hibernation), the JV squad (hosted by Casey Jost and Joe Imburgio), or any of the Fast and Furious ones.
Okay, onto the list. I give my reasons why I pick them alongside it.
1: pilot: goes without saying.
3: diamonds are like people: the story of the man at the diamond counter still makes me laugh.
5: Sal’s brush with death (headache): Sal being Sal. (also the sounds of the ER in the background get the nurse in me pumped lol)
7: enter nugget: essential to understand Nugget.
12: dick lewis is watching: I get really into these reminiscing episodes.
17: enter nugget part 2: more nugget.
18: #GFY: helps understand some IJ references of this hash tag
19: I have your pants: if you’re gonna listen to one, THIS IS IT.
20: Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s: short one with a funny game.
21: I wish she could see: Sal and Q read some children’s stories, with an unusual twist.
22: forty four zip zip: more reminiscing.
27: theater buddies: this is the “smoke it up if you can” episode. It’s heavy but in a good way.
28: you’re an ass: Sal tells a tale of a sale on eBay gone awry.
30: my child is a dud: a discussion on the world cup turns into an analysis on genetics.
31: Fatty… Fatty… Fatty: if you’ve ever been curious about Juggalo and ICP culture, this is your episode. If not, this is your episode any way. Easily in my top 3.
42: you’ll like the way you look: a prized possession of Murr’s goes missing at a show.
43: justice is served: fans of WSY weigh in on the last episode.
44: hard knocks Sal and diamond BQ: these nicknames have been referenced on IJ before.
45: let dem tittays go: looking back on Sal’s CPR challenge, and how it actually saved a life.
49: trapper keepers and cans: eighties reminiscing.
50: Billy and the boingers: more reminiscing.
56: back in the saddle: this is really just a no topic episode. I like listening to them talk lol.
58: super roach: Sal details a nightmare in which 3 roaches become one.
59: Q’s cube: Q wants to venture into the gag gift business. Sal gives a pessimistic outlook.
64: Sal’s cleaning service: Sal lays down the ground rules for a fun experience, if you have the money.
65: grateful communists: results of the contest in the prior episode are announced.
66: trapped in Vegas: another shoot the shit episode.
67: lucky Pierre’s pied-a-terre: this is an odd one to describe but I know I liked it.
69: shark tank: Quinndustries debuts its line of gag gift ideas and pranks to the lone shark, Sal.
70: wellness check: Sal recounts his harrowing, assumed near death experience in which a joking tweet is misread by fans.
73 and 74: good as new, both parts: the newest episodes, where they talk with frequent guest Owen Benjamin. (he’s not bad imo, but like I said, I’m into the episodes where it’s just Sal and Q.)
This is a fantastic podcast if you’re an IJ fan. I’m glad you’re getting into it!
