I thought what dean did for richie in your story was so selfless and he did it for seth too. then richie gets to see inside dean's soul ? I love it! I can't wait for them to become friends. and what is up with kate ?
What I find so interesting about Dean and Richie is how similar they actually are; even answered an ask about this previously. Going back and rewatching some of the old SPN episodes I found Dean’s journey parallels Richie’s just as Sam kinda parallels Seth [despite Dean and Seth being the bossy alpha older brothers and Sam and Richie being the nerdy weirdo younger brothers with psychic abilities].
Dean and Richie both saved their brothers from a fire when they were children.The Winchesters’ mother and the Geckos’ father both died in each fire:
Dean and Richie were both framed for murder in the first seasons of each series. Dean was framed by a shapeshifter and Richie was framed by Aidan Tanner aka Sex Machine who was a serial killer:
Dean and Richie both have hero complexes. One of Dean’s most memorable lines on SPN is “saving people, hunting things, the family business”; goes out of his way to save lives every time. And ironically Richie’s moral code after being turned is “no eating civilians”; in S3 he’s seen risking his life to save innocents.
Dean and Richie got taken by a stripper in their respective shows. Of course each had a different reaction to the experience:
Dean and Richie are both knife experts; and use mystical knives as their primary weapon [Dean uses the Demon knife and Richie uses the Xibalban knife] :
Dean and Richie both turned into vampires. Dean of course got cured and Richie remains one of the undead:
Dean and Richie’s minds were both toyed with by women. Nothing’s worse than being manipulated and used by someone with sinister intentions:
Dean and Richie were both shot by their brothers. In Sam’s defense he wasn’t himself since he was possessed by a ghost. And Seth did it to make certain his sibling wasn’t being controlled by a demon:
Dean and Richie both like eating on the job. I know this one’s kinda ridiculous but hey both these moments were hilarious:
Dean and Richie are really cheesy cool with their sunglasses. These two just ham it up while putting on or taking off those dark shades:
Dean and Richie were both dying thinking of their brothers. Ironically these two are considered the wild card within each sibling duo on their respective shows; willing to lay down their lives for their better halves:
Dean and Richie also split from their brothers to protect them. Both have repeatedly told their siblings to let them go for their own sake. The measure of love is in how you demonstrate it; its clear these two would do anything for Sam and Seth:
Other similarities between the Winchesters and the Geckos include; a love for movies and pop culture references. Both sets of brothers are Kansas boys. Both love classic black muscle cars. Both have held up banks. Both posed as FBI. Both went to prison for a mission [the Winchesters were ghost hunting while the Geckos were trying to get info from Venganza]. Both faked their deaths. Both were wanted by the authorities. Both have significant mythical titles/destinies [the Winchesters are the Men of Letters and the Geckos are the Mayan Hero Twins]. Both have referred to themselves as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
But back to the story, you can see why I felt a need to give Dean and Richie an arc that binds them. I think all these parallels gives me something great to build on. You’re gonna get a really unique relationship between these two; one that won’t clash with Castiel or their siblings. They’re so complex, layered and I’m a sucker for good character development; something I promise a lot of in Ridin’ the Storm Out going forward. Seth and Sam will also be bonding as will the Winchesters and Geckos together. They just fit as a dynamic which is probably why I felt so inspired to do this crossover fanfic ;)
As for Kate I can’t spoil that but you will get your answers in my next chapter. Planning a solely Kate Fuller flashback in there to touch on what Castiel picked up from her. So hang tight anon. Bunch of fun stuff ahead.
