the basic premise of this au is what if the disassembly drones got “adopted” by khan and the colony! I saw the concept of khan adopting the DDs in a fan fiction a while ago, and I’ve been thinking about adding my own two cents to the idea!

Here’s some doodles of the DD in their designs for this au! wont spoil the whole plot, but basically cyn is defeated by uhhh someone else before she could get to copper nine. (Yes, you do know who that someone else is, it’s not an oc!) this leaves the DD’s without an admin, so other squads start taking up all the good hunting grounds, our fav DD’s starve, yada yada they get desperate.

so, they reach out to the colony for help- and strike a deal that the DDs will protect the colony in return for food.

a lot more happens, but I do want to do something with this au so! No spoilers :)

When J finally starts to accept that Tessa is back? Or at least tolerate her

J takes a long while to even accept the fact that it is Tessa, and she doesn’t even actively try to speak to Tessa. She’s avoidant by nature, and from experience, she chooses to NOT get close to the likely second skinwalker, but unfortunately for J, the W.D.F employers don’t seem to share the same sentiment.

Being Tessa’s supervisor unfortunately does force J to interact with her, leaving this to be the first step of ACTUALLY healing their relationship with each other. But for a good solid while, J is just certain that she’s training a freakish copy/fake version of Tessa.

And this fact also does sour J’s mood for the earlier months of Tessa’s employment, and it comes with unfortunate collateral consequences for the other W.D.F employees
