Silver being like âIâm No Oneâ when this is a show that is CLEARLY referencing the Odyssey at every turn meaning HE is Odysseus and not Flint
Banks of the Lethe by @beelieve-yâ
He steps back, dragging the man with him as he heads for the door. The thief trips, caught off-guard by the quick pivot, and Flintâs forearm snakes around his throat, cutting off his ability to speak as he hauls the other man out of the cabin. Their trek down the corridor goes no smoother, however, as Flint soon finds himself bodily dragging the thief when the shorter man stumbles, unable to keep up with Flintâs hurried pace.
By the time they reach the deck, Flintâs headache has only worsened. Though the sun sits low on the horizon, fading but persistently bright, the sudden flare of light causes him to close his eyes a moment as he steps outside. When he opens them again, he blinks rapidly, trying to banish the dark spots in his vision as he drags the man toward the helm. The man staggers again, and it takes all of Flintâs strength just to keep them both upright.
At the edge of the deck, a group of men stand working, their conversation slowly fading as they turn to stare.
âS-sir?â
A young blond man steps forward, his eyes flitting between Flint and his captive.
Flint doesnât recognize the man, but he canât be more than sixteen. A boy, really. He knows heâs been preoccupied of late, of course, and investing the time to learn every new recruitâs name had never been a priority, at least until theyâd proven their worth to him. It doesnât bother Flint, not knowing the boy before him. What does bother him, however, are the four other men standing behind the boy.
Each one just as unfamiliar as the next.
Super excited to share my part of this yearâs SFBB! I had a blast making this and I hope yâall enjoy Beeâs great fic!
if you going to watch black sails, don't be fooled by everyone talking about how progressive the show is because it has gays because the same thing that happened in got with dany happened in black sails with eleanor: a strong powerful kind ruler on the first seasons completely destroyed so the audience can hate on her, very much like what happened to dany. after they destroyed this strong female character the show became a sausage fest, everything is about the men
Dude, spoilers!! I havenât even started it yet, why would you tell me what happens???
not to intrude or anything but thatâsâŠ.not true and that person just sounds angry because they only care about this one blonde white woman and not the woc (plus anne) who have incredibly meaningful, well-written and fulfilled arcs. was eleanorâs story perfect? no. was it the same sexist unfounded mess as Danyâs in season 8? also no.
For real. But also, Eleanor was not some âkind benevolent rulerâ. Iâm not crapping on her here, but she just ⊠wasnât. Danyâs dream was to rid the world of slavery, Eleanor â along with all the pirates â engaged in and profited from slavery. Eleanor was more of a Cersei in that she got to ambitious and complicated in ways that were usually reserved for the male characters. Madi was the one rebelling against slavery and wanting to free her people. But I guess she isnât blond and white enough to get that acknowledgement. đ đ
Every woman on âBlack Sailsâ was strong and awesome in her own right. Anne, Max, Madi, Eleanor, Miranda, they all kicked ass.Â
Tbh, Iâve never really understood where the huge objection to Eleanorâs story came from. I loved her in every season. I think Mr. Scott was the critical difference between Eleanor and everyone else. Itâs true everyone participated in the slave trade, but Eleanor was the only character who actually owned a slave and refused to free him. I think that moment between Eleanor and Mr. Scott where he asks her why she wonât free him is critical in understanding why she ends up where she does.
Dany also was allowed to embody a lot of typically male traits, so I actually think a comparison to Eleanor is apt in that regard. In fact, if you think about the ways in which Dany and Eleanor approach imperialism, theyâre very similar. I think the only difference is that Danyâs character arc got shortened to the point where she unfortunately became a tired trope, while Eleanorâs story was told fully and actually made sense.
#black sails never compromised its storytelling for anything#eleanorâs story makes perfect sense if you view her critically#she was always an imperialist she always thought that she and britain were better than everyone else in nassau#and it killed her because at the end of the day the empire protects only straight white wealthy men and eleanor wasnât one of those#but itâs still gorgeous storytelling because it all makes sense given her background#like jfc the way that black sails understands the different types and levels of oppression is unparalleled in any other show#because there are loads of white women who forget the revolution as soon as theyâre given the chance#to marry a rich white tool of the capitalist patriarchy and live in his mansion and enjoy the spoils of his privilege#eleanor was one of those and i still loved her and wished sheâd had a little more confidence in herself and her abilities#imo the show dares you to find eleanor unsympathetic for grasping the thing everyone else wants peace and stability#most people arenât born revolutionaries theyâre pressed into it by societal disadvantage#most people just want to be comfortable if they can beÂ
@gaymacriot went OFF in the tags and you know what theyâre right
You may remember I hosted a giveaway about a month ago. @captainsorryimabadass was the winner and they requested the dance scene from Stardust where Flint takes the role of Captain Shakespeare and Thomas is the star. I am a big fan of Stardust and I absolutely loved this idea, so thanks again for this request, @captainsorryimabadass :) I also really really love painting halos so Thomas ended up looking a bit saint-like (but thatâs fitting perhaps).

Hey so I know Black Sails was a while ago and Iâm late to the pirate party but I desperately need your attention for a moment because Iâm losing my MIND.
Obviously the show is a fantastic no-holds-barred blend of history and fiction, but thereâs one historical connection that I thought was half my imagination at first, but every second I look at this shit Iâm sliding downhill into acceptance.
The Hamiltons and their complicated and scandalous relationship with a Naval officerâŠ..
âŠare based on the Hamiltons and their complicated and scandalous relationship with a Naval officer?
Yes, thatâs a picture of Horatio Nelson on the end. I know, and Iâm sorry. Please give me a chance to explain myself.
We have, right to left, Admiral Nelson, Sir William Hamilton, and Sir Williamâs wife, Emma Hamilton, mostly remembered for her extraordinarily blatant and scandalous affair with Nelson. It was a hell of a thing. There were contemporary rude cartoons about William Hamilton being so scholarly and oblivious that he didnât know his wife was openly carrying on with Nelson. Thereâs even a movie about it starring Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier, for whatever thatâs worth.
But itâs a little ridiculous, the extent to which their torrid affair is remembered for having happened under William Hamiltonâs nose. Nelson lived with the both of them for extended periods, traveled across Europe with them, wrote incessantly to them. In fact, they referred to themselves fondly as the Tria juncta in unoâ that is to say, three joined in one.
Look me in the eyes right now.
Letter from Sir William Hamilton to Lady Emma Hamilton Burford, Eighty Miles from London. Saturday Night, [July 27th, 1801.]
Here we are, my Dear Emma, after a pleasant dayâs journey! No extraordinary occurrence. Our chaise is good, and would have held the famous âTria juncta in Uno,â very well: but, we must submit to the circumstances of the times. ⊠Amuse yourself as well as you can; and you may be assured, that I shall return as soon as possible, and you shall hear from me often.
Ever yourâs, my dear Emma, with the truest affection,
 Wm. HAMILTON.
My kindest love to my Lord, if he is not gone.
Iâm sorry but I donât know what else to tell you.
Excerpt, letter from Sir William Hamilton to Admiral Horatio Nelson Palermo, May 26th, 1799
Above all, take care of your health; that is the first of blessings. May God ever protect you! We miss you heavily: but, a short time must clear up the business; and, we hope, bring you back to those who love and esteem you to the very bottom of their souls.
Sir William Hamilton ending a letter to his wife: Â Adieu, my dearest Emma! Yourâs, with my whole soul, Â Â Â Â Â W.H.
Sir William Hamilton ending a letter to Nelson: Â Â Adieu, my dear Lord! Your Lordshipâs truly affectionate, and eternally attached, Â Â Â Wm. Hamilton
This has been driving me completely bonkers wrt the attitudes of the historical accounts for a hot minute now, particularly since Emma became a social pariah for their highly-publicized presumed affair after Sir William, and then Nelson, predeceased her, but I honestly cannot, for a single eight-hundredth of a second, imagine that the concept of the Hamiltons and Lt. McGraw came about without some awareness of the self-proclaimed Tria of the actual married Hamiltons and their very dearly loved Naval hero.
And, for one final small item of infuriatingly minor but TOO CONVENIENT connectionâ Sir William Hamilton had been married once, prior to Emma, and was widowed by his first wifeâs early death. His first wife, with whom he was eventually buried, was named Catherine Hamilton, nĂ©e Barlow.
Have you heard the story? What were these villains after but money? What do they care for but money? For what would they risk their rascal carcasses but money?
-Treasure Island
SoooâŠ. I have been watching Black Sails recently, and itâs pretty cool ! ( created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine - produced by Michael Bay) Itâs kind of a prequel of Treasure Island (Robert Louis Stevensonâs novel) mixed with real historical events and real characters but not still not an historical serie because itâs supposed to set the evenâts of the books. Basically, itâs Ships, Pirates, Fights, Explosions and Pirates again ! (and itâs great !!!!) Canât wait for season 4
âBlack Sailsâ co-creator Jon Steinberg and his producing partner Dan Schotz have signed an overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios. Unde
Please Jon Steinberg, feed me more high quality television content!

I made other fanarts of Black Sails, here and here
I know it wonât happen but I still want Gendry and Arya as Lord and Lady Baratheon. A few other posts have pointed out that Arya has a very biased view of what a lady is and she doesnât want to be that, BUT she could be her own type of lady.Â
Just like, imagine a world where they rule the Stormlands. Gendry as âLord Smithâ and Arya as âthe She-Wolf of Storms Endâ. Other lords and ladies might call them by those names to mock them but the smallpeople of the Stormlands love their lord and lady and are proud of those names. (When a lord or lady tries to make calling Arya a wolf an insult, she smiles with too much teeth, baring her fangs as best she can. They canât make her feel bad for being who she is but she can remind them the dangers of wolves).Â
Whenever anyone comes to see Lord Baratheon they are confused when theyâre escorted to the forge. The people call him the Smith Lord because he takes most of his meetings in the smithy. His advisors are used to it but the guests are always surprised (and slightly in awe by his Baratheon strength) at having to speak to a lord while he works among the other castle blacksmiths.Â
Arya helps, but politics were never her favorite. Every so often sheâll disappear for a few weeks and new stories of Lady Baratheon traveling the Stormlands start to emerge. Sometimes the story is that Lady Baratheon saved a family from traveling outlaws and sometimes sheâs seen teaching children how to shoot a bow.Â
Other times the stories talk about Lord Baratheon following behind his wife, obvious to all how besotted he is. He canât always go with Arya on her adventures but when he can, he does. They donât travel in fancy caravans or with guards, instead itâs just the two of them traveling simply and mingling with the people of the Stormlands. They might not be the richest or the most powerful of the seven kingdoms but the people are happy and love their lord and lady.
Happy endings may not be dark and gritty and cool, but I like to think that sometimes characters deserve that happy ending.
Bury me in this.
See any treasures, Captân?
I just loved that gif/picture of Flint grinning and..well.
