Hey im gonna go ahead and abandon this Tumblr and my other side blogs, I find im not into discorse as much as i once was and just kind of want a fresh start with a whole new tumblr account. Tumblr stopped sparking joy so ive decided to revamp it so that maybe will in the future

Imagine if you would, a woman who owns a successful daycare business. She maintains her own standards because she’s the boss.
Now imagine that that a gay man who applied to the job was rejected. He womders why and looks up the owner’s twitter account. It reads
“One of them tried applying again. I three his application right in the trash. We dont hire those people. Safety of the children first.”
The gay man goes to the media with this information. He was a victim of discrimination! She gets blasted online and on the news as a bigot. She tries to defend herself by stating that she only wants to protect children. That this applicant would likely rape or abuse the children because that’s just what people like him are like.
Everyone calls her homophobic. How dare she refuse someone an oppurtunity due to her own biases. How dare she assume the worst of an innocent person for how they were born. To defend her bigotry with “my/children’s safety over your feelings”. What a closed minded individual.
But it turns out that she was actually discriminating against and assuming the worst out of this gay man, not for being gay, but for being male. She thought he would molest or harm the children, not for his sexuality, but for his sex.
If you are the kind of person who was angry at the original scenario but find the real reason completely acceptable, you are guilty of having a double standard. You are guilty of bigotry. If you sudebly sided with the daycare owner, you are in the wrong. There are tons of very popular posts on this website encouraging treating people as criminals and as suspicious for how they were born. “My safety over your feelings” is often used to justify bigotry. If you wouldnt be fine with it when it happens to gay people or black people or whoever, you shouldnt be fine with it when it happens to men. You arent #woke. You arent supporting equality. You arent a good feminist. Youre a bigot. Plain and simple.
i’d like everybody to know that just because i have a different opinion than a lot of you doesn’t mean i don’t respect you guys. i’ll always respect all your identities and pronouns and i am ALWAYS open to a discussion in dms. i would never send anybody a message like this like they did to me. this account isn’t for discourse, it’s just for my regression. it is my safe space and i don’t appreciate having it ruined by somebody i was only ever nice to. i don’t think i deserve to be treated like this

no one who’s too picky to eat bugs would eat any of that stuff, I wouldn’t eat half that shit and Ive eaten live spiders before. also caviar has roots in Persia, civilizations in the Mediterranean and north Africa (and later the middle East) have a history of eating snails, and both the Chinese and Aztecs ate the legs of frogs, Europeans and European Americans also have their own histories of eating bugs.

I also never said these are Western dishes in origin. Just that they’re not seen as all that gross in the west, despite some of them being as gross or grosser.
it’s all cultural, dude. just because something is a delicacy doesn’t mean people don’t think it’s gross. i used to live in france and i think ive met, like, 5 americans that didn’t look at escargot and say “oh my god that’s so gross!!”
same thing for the fish eggs and snail eggs, but more general than just france-centric. as for lobster, people usually don’t eat the whole thing like that- it’s lobster tails and claws. we also get them at restaurants the majority of the time, so we aren’t really seeing the whole cooked-alive thing.
frog legs are southern. easterners laugh at frog legs. they’re fried, though- so even then they don’t really look like frog legs any more than they look like a chicken wing.
bugs, on the other hand, are an extremely common phobia for many people. they are also, very visibly, bugs. you’re putting the whole thing in your mouth.
personally, i don’t see the big deal, id eat a (cooked) spider no problem if it wouldn’t hurt me. but i can see why people wouldn’t want to eat bugs. this isn’t super serious discourse, but im just curious- why the big fuss over bugs?

Asexuals aren't a hivemind. They may choose to define their sexuality in different ways. "Apec" meaning that it is a spectrum wherein people may fall anywhere on said spectrum. Bisexuality also has a spectrum (Kinsey Scale).

Bisexuality is not on a spectrum– you are sexually attracted to both males and females, BUT it’s common for individuals to lean more towards one sex than the other. They’re still attracted to both males and females though.
Asexuality seems to be needing more viable research to finally understand it better, because all the other sexuality’s don’t have this issue– only asexuality. A sexuality doesn’t have multiple definitions– so obviously that means there’s somethin’ up with asexuality, and how it needs more attention on being refined, defined, and better understood.
Some bisexuals have a clear preference but that doesn’t change the fact they’re still attracted to both sexes. Some bisexuals fluctuate between leaning more towards one or the other during different times. Still doesn’t change the fact they’re still attracted to both sexes. Saying something with wildly differing interpretations, many of which contradict each other, based on who you ask is the same as something with a very clearly defined definition is dumb and I’m tired of some asexuals trying to piggy back off bisexual experiences like this.
If you’re so LGBT then you wouldn’t need to use us as an analogy or stepping stone to get people to understand you. You’d just be able to use your own experiences.
