seeing people say "this trope has been done to death" as if that's ever stopped anyone from eating bread. BREAD HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH FOR LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF YEARS AND WE STILL WANT MORE BREAD. write your chosen one AU. write your coffee shop meet-cute. write your 47th iteration of "there was only one bed" because guess what??? we're still hungry.
Any chance you have a STL update? Or a lil snippy? Iām starving for my Jalice fix
Yes. It is happening, we are powering through, I've been working on it for over a week. I will be fully shocked if this chapter comes in under 20k at this point.
And here's a snippet for being so damn patient
Hunting is second nature. Itās always been the safest space for her, truly. When they hunted together in the south, it was always the easiest time between them. Especially when they were taking from the small towns, and not bothering to bring humans back for everyone.
(In Los Aldamas, she remembers the Major taking a girl with long blonde hair. It came loose in the struggle, and ended up stained with her blood. Mary-Alice had lent against the brickwork, waiting for the Major - a safe distance, because they all got cagey about personal space when they were feeding - and watched him brace the girl for a second to strip her of her clothing. The girlās neck rolled awkwardly as he freed the fabric from her. For her - a new dress for Mary-Alice because hers is indecent. Not something she asked for or suggestion. Just something he gave her.)
Sometimes Maria would send the Major with Peter, because Peter would get into more trouble than Mary-Alice could even imagine. She swore he did it for attention most of the time. Sometimes she had wondered if she should do something risky and stupid, just to be seen; most of the time she felt like the furniture in the house, forgotten and slowly falling to pieces.
āYou wanted to keep him, so keep him alive,ā Maria always said to the Major almost boredly. āMary-Alice can hunt for herself - Iāll send her to Monclova.ā
Monclova was further than their usual hunting fields that year; a taunt to Peter that Mary-Alice could be trusted. But it was also a warning to the Major for questioning Maria's choices - there was a lot of land between the farm and Monclova for her to travel, unguarded and alone.
I love how some fics are called shit like "They Only Shoot The Birds Who Cannot Sing" and it's like the most insane porn you're ever read and then some fics are called Spit On Me and it's 18,000 words of the most achingly id-scratching prose you've ever read and they're both. They're both so fucking good. thank God for fanfiction.
I did already ask you this, I believe, but worded the question weird, and itās came across not like I intended (fully my fault).
So, I asked you about horniness in STL and what Jalice sexual history was. What I meant, is how would you describe their sex in the south? Like, seeing as MA was fairly preoccupied with her āsave the Majorā mission & her masking so much & always worrying and plotting, I assume she was half in her head & not very active in their encounters? (Meaning, you know, initiating positions, touches etc). Or was it different?
We know that Jasper was fairly inconsiderate of her inexperience the first time they had sex, and itās left him frustrated. Was it because he wanted her so much, that he got carried away? Was he feeling her emotions then, and this made him so wound up? Or was it something else?
How would you describe him as a sexual partner to MA in the South? How his developing depression affected their sex? I assume MA didnāt orgasm, seeing as she was (again) so bottled up & not relaxed/very in her head?
Also, from STL official chapters we get the line about ābut the nights become shorterā meaning not as long as Jasper would have liked, and that MA becomes somewhat a confidante/not as aloof? How this changes their sexual dynamic?
Iām just so CURIOUS about their sex as Traumatized Secret Mates in the South, Lexie. Like, this man literally carried her with him for like 50 years, their intimate relationship MUST have had something to do with it?
How now-Jasper remembers their sex? Is it something he misses, on a physical level? (Like touching her and stuff?)
Also, was it MA/memory of her that made Jasper not even consider having a sexual encounter for all these years he was with the Cullens, or was he just genuinely so uninterested? Like, we know MA was burnt out and her being so focused on the future, itās makes sense she wouldnāt even think about sex, or have any kind of sexual drive. And after the assault, itās would be traumatic. But did she have any kind of sexual drive while having sex with the Major? Or was it more emotional, like her wanting to have Jasper in any capacity she can, seeing their circumstances?
Would you say, that Jasper wants her sexually now? I know he wouldnāt act on it, seeing as he is terrified of hurting her in any way or trigger her or that she wouldnāt want him this way; but does he want to? Is it something he thought about all these years they were apart? If so, what his feelings about their sexual relationship in the South now that he can see it in hindsight?
Just yap whatever you want about it at me, please. I will lick up every crumb.
No! I remember it, I started writing it and then I was like "oh my god, I sound like an absolute creep, I'm going to save my draft and reconsider this" and⦠it's still in drafts, waiting for me to figure out a way to sound less like a perv.
But you know what? Fuck it. We all know that I'm batshit crazy, so lets lean into it.
(You have never asked anything weird or that I feel uncomfortable answering.)
So, their sex life in the south. Mary-Alice had zero sex-ed and the Major probably had too much. Mary-Alice's sex ed came from watching the newborns in the barn and staying out of the way, and one other newborn who thought she was much younger than she was, and decided to give her a very crude talk. Jasper knows none of this. Itās not even a distant speck of light on the horizon of thought. So Mary-Alice has no idea what a healthy, satisfying sex life is. She has no expectations for it. She also has her visions, so she understands the logistics of what she and the Major will do but it's still this huge and intimate experience in a place where the number one rule is not to let anyone get close enough or she risks death.
By the time Jasper approaches Mary-Alice, Jasperās had a long time to reflect and punish himself for his behaviour. But ultimately, he did not set out to be selfish and cruel. He was depressed and hunted and terrified of the shape of monster he had become. Jasper never got any time to just be - he was almost always on guard. And her lack of emotions didnāt help - he just didnāt really give much thought to her experience of the whole ordeal. Thereās also a whole other factor that comes up in a future chapter that explores aspects of this more that I wonāt spoil.
What Mary-Alice does know is that the Major is supposed to be her person and love her as much as she loves him. So when she goes along with sex, itās ultimately because itās something that makes Jasper āhappyā and is something that keeps him close. And as much as there are so many things churning in her head, Mary-Alice prizes that closeness above all else. That she has the Major in that way is enough. Mary-Aliceās unhappiness with the situation is that things have gone wrong; this isnāt her Jasper. Theyāre in a place that could kill them at any moment. Jasper doesnāt love her and this is just a means to an end.
Mary-Alice was incredibly passive to the Major the first few times. It was about his preferences and pleasure - he sought her out for this, he clearly wanted it. And Mary-Alice has watched the Major; she's seen his hair-trigger temper, and would rather be submissive than risk him losing his temper with her. She touches him and kisses him once she learns what is allowed - there are certain scars or physical gestures that Jasper will not tolerate, but he's definitely the one deciding the positions and how long their encounter is. Jasper actually prizes how willing and gentle Mary-Alice is to him.
Jasper was definitely expecting Mary-Alice to have some kind of experience their first time, and some of his frustration came from that. But Jasper was always drawn to Mary-Alice - he found her and brought her back when her emotions felt like an extension of him makes him feel the closest he's ever felt to the creator-kin relationship, and the way she watches him makes him feel significant. Combined with their gifts and the concept of a 'meeting of minds', there's a connection there. Jasper's not one to have long relationships in the South - Maria is the longest, and then Mary-Alice. There were a couple of newborns during the 'worst' of his reign - before Mary-Alice - that he slept with, but it was very clearly a one-night thing. And that's really all he's expecting from Mary-Alice; he's not expecting to want her again, not expecting her to be exactly what he needs. He doesn't like needing anything except blood. There's also still the ghost of her emotions at that point, and Jasper is intensely aware that of all the things that Mary-Alice felt that first time, it was never terror of him. So Jasper's frustrated because Mary-Alice is a wildcard he never expected.
There is a very short period where they have a quasi-relationship (off the top of my head, it's referenced in Ch 11 where Jasper's been scouting in Baja and the second he gets back to the mansion, he fucks Mary-Alice against the wall of his quarters; as well as the reference to Mary-Alice agreeing the newborns 'will do' in training, and in Ch 12 with their last hunt in Laredo together), but very superficial. There is never any conversation about who they are to each other, never any conversations about their future or anything.
Jasper absolutely runs the sexual spectrum, as far as gentle to rough goes but he never intentionally (or unintentionally) hurt her or did anything that was non-consensual. Mary-Alice is detached enough not to have a particular preference outside of making Jasper happy but she would have resisted anything she truly didn't want, and Jasper would have acknowledge that boundary. As far as orgasms go, Mary-Alice is really too disengaged with the act to climax and really doesn't know how to get herself off. And like, why would she? There's zero privacy unless she and Jasper are in his quarters having sex, she doesn't let anything get through her blankness, and Jasper definitely isn't going down on her. That's not to say that, when she very very rarely let her guard down, it didn't feel good - it did feel good. It just wasn't earth-shattering yet, and Mary-Alice wouldn't let her guard down long enough to just enjoy it. Jasper's also not an idiot and he's been inside her; he absolutely knows what works for her, he's just never been in the head space to look at Mary-Alice and see how far he can push her.
I can't comment on the 'nights becoming shorter' because that's insight that comes in a future chapter. I can say that Jasper depended on Mary-Alice in the south. He calls her his best friend for a reason. But by that point, Mary-Alice is a lot more confident - I mean, when Jasper is worried that Maria will separate them because they're too close, Mary-Alice pitches the idea of Maria walking in on her blowing him. She knows his body and his boundaries, which is such an intimate thing.
I think the thing to take away with their intimacy in the South was that yes, they were having a lot of sex, but it was the closeness from the sex that really created their relationship. They knew each others scars; Jasper kept track of Mary-Alice's clothing without even realising he was doing it; they had each other's back in every battle, and healed each other's wounds; their days in Jasper's quarters were the safest and most consistent they had. Every night they survived meant another day shut in a room together. And yes, sometimes Mary-Alice was back in the barn with the newborns, but no one was stupid enough to lay a hand on Mary-Alice. Not only was she formidable in her own right, no one would touch the Major's property. The boy has a terrible temper when triggered.
Jasper is so attracted to her. The man did not entirely go for a run the night after the battle because of post-battle energy; she was in his head again. He's not acknowledging the attraction at all because it's clear she has some pretty severe PTSD and that something traumatic has happened to her at the hands of a man. He didn't kill all those people who looked like her for nothing - he wanted his girl back. He, of course, has never acknowledged how deeply he felt for her because then he has to face the reality that he left her behind alone in a place that was actively trying to kill her without ever going back. And he is desperate for the ability to casually touch her again; the fact she got a bite on her leg in the battle that he couldn't just tend to it himself makes her feel like a stranger. He's healed so many bites on her body, that it's uncomfortable to him that she has fresh scars that he doesn't know about.
If things were different (the first draft), Jasper and Mary-Alice absolutely would have had sex the day after the battle - literally planned for Ch 7. That's how it was written; very much more of a romantic reunion than the final version.
His teeth graze over her body so lightly, rasping against her ribs and hip bone.
--
They are curled together in the clearing, her head on his shoulder. She traces his chest absently, and he has one arm around her, his entire hand spanning the width of her lower back. When they dress again, he is a little embarrassed to see that the bodice of her dress has been destroyed and is no longer decent. She giggles softly, a sound he savours, and admires her as she gathers her clothing
Jasper's celibacy was fueled by a bunch of things - predominantly depression. For decades, he did not trust himself. It took him so long to allow himself to stay in a room with Esme or Rosalie without one of the Cullen men present; not because of anything sexual, just because he hated himself so much he assumed he should never be left near vulnerable people and in Jasper's experience, both Rose and Esme were extremely vulnerable vampires (neither can fight or are gifted). If he can't trust himself, why should he trust anyone else? There is an aspect of Mary-Alice to it - the absolute shame of leaving her behind - and during his early years with the Cullens, he definitely reframed their relationship in his mind to be much worse than it was. And because Mary-Alice and Jasper had made a connection, even if it wasn't being fully in love and acknowledging it and Jasper wasn't even aware of it, there was that sense of loss that he carried. There was boredom and loneliness, but with everything he had to deal with (PTSD, depression, a new coven, his gift, learning to exist on animal blood, learning to post as a human in high school, protect the Cullens), sex just wasn't on the radar.
Right now (as of his conversation with Emmett), Jasper wants closeness and physical contact. He hasn't realised it yet (and I don't think it will be a detail that comes up at this point) but just having Mary-Alice back in his orbit is like someone has turned the screen brightness up on the whole world. Jasper would never had stood up to the family for any reason, but he did to keep Mary-Alice at the Cullens. He doesn't even realise he's already changing from being in her proximity. And listen, the boy was frozen forever at 19 after being in a military camp - the second they're both in the right place, he's dragging her into the middle of the forest and they're both getting naked. The second Jasper gets some kind of sign that romantic inclinations are welcome and encourage, at least half his brainpower is going to be diverted into picturing Mary-Alice naked. They aren't in the wars, there are no consequences for just spending days together, and now they get to be creative with each other. Carlisle is actively going to have to tell them to stay far away from the boundary to avoid giving any of the wolves running patrol an unexpected show.
The biggest barrier between them isn't Mary-Alice's assault - in her mind, the Major is untouchable, almost sacred. He doesn't come close to being in the same category as that newborn. It's going to affect her down the road, and that's something they have to work through and communicate about, but where we are in the story, that isn't a factor. The assault is more of a factor in being casually touched by strangers, her hyper-awareness being around the Cullens, bonding with the Cullen men, how she'll approach outsiders like Eleazer and Garrett, and future dealings with Peter. No, the biggest barrier is Mary-Alice's absolute terror that Jasper will reject her. She's gambled eighty years - her whole life - on him. She's worked towards him her entire life, and now she's at the point where she can have the only thing that she wants in the world, it's terrifying. She's not the same person she was when she started, she's increasingly aware of how beautiful the women around him have been, and she's not the girl in the visions that he was devoted to. So the idea that she could confide in him, touch him, kiss him, have sex with him and he could turn her away⦠yikes. That would break her. Mary-Alice would not recover from that.
A little bit of bravery and some clear communication would go miles in getting these two to actually face each other.
After Mary-Alice finally does understand what good sex is and what good sex with Jasper is, she wouldnāt reflect on their past encounters as bad sex or Jasper being selfish or bad in bed (ooof, that would hurt his ego), but more of the situation being bad because of the trauma, depression, and misery because she would never speak out against her Major, and because she knows that if everything had gone like her visions said, it would have been amazing. Ergo, the problem was the situation they were in.
Jasper is going to be a nightmare when he gets the girl and it might possibly create a little bit of a rivalry with Edward and Bella. Like, heās going to be a terror. Itās going to be so much fun. Heās going to love Mary-Alice with every fibre in his body. Right now there are two sex scenes written (one might end up being an outtake for ficmas or something because it was written as a quasi-joke for the Jalice server years ago and doesn't have a physical place in the timeline), and at least two planned across STL and the sequel. It's going to be so much fun to explore the kind of behaviours the Cullens expect from a new vampire couple vs what typical Southern Wars behaviour would look like because it's going to be a bit of a shock in comparison to Bella and Edward's courtship. And I've really got to figure out if I want Renesmee to occur because that will determine some of the dynamic.
I think that's everything? Let me know if I missed anything. I should do that porn fic ship meme for that was floating around back in the day, for STL. I still have a copy somewhere.
identifying a maladaptive coping mechanism is so bitter sweet like thatās great now i know what i need to stop doing. but thatās literally my something
Assuming that Carlisle did buy Esme an island (I assume specifically for her to design and build a dream house or whatever), I wonder what insanely over the top thing Emmett, Jasper, and Edward bought for their wives. Is it a way to get rid of large sums of money quickly? Bury the fortune in a real estate portfolio?
Does Rosalie have some incredible Manhattan townhouse? Does Bella end up owning a historical theatre converted into a library?
I assume Alice and Jasper own an old Victorian that looks borderline haunted on a huge swath of land as a place to retreat to when Jasper splits or they need the space to be vampires. Probably dangerously close to the Mason-Dixon line but it's a sentimental choice.
I forgot to mention Smoke & Mirrors as my new favourite!
I EAT these Alice and Jasper have Southern Wars history and meet again fics, holly fuck. THE BEST flavor. Alice being a detached, poker face menace & Jasper LOSING HIS MIND is a huge plus, too
Itās has STL vibes, and I love it
I might have a small addiction to writing Jalice fics where they both met in the South. Just a little but it's soooo addictive, it's not going to stop any time soon.
Smoke and Mirrors is a goddamn gremlin because if the smut scene isn't perfect, it all falls apart.
I also keep second-guessing myself - like, I know it only works if I set it just before Breaking Dawn, but then I kind of want this version of Alice to stand in the periphery of every Bella-adjacent disaster going, "This is not a family. This is a collective comedy act. A psychological experiment. I own a human bar in New Orleans and I've never dealt with this level of shit. Jesus Christ, you didn't kill the tracker's mate? Or the third member of their coven? I'll send in my clean-up people, but get your goddamn house in order, Dr Cullen."
Alice being called in to help when James corners Bella at the ballet studio, ripping him a new asshole verbally because he's been on her payroll for a few years, and James agrees to leave the Cullens and Bella alone, and Alice just decapitating him because she doesn't like mess, and James made a big one.
Alice showing up to the wedding entirely in black couture, Jasper practically tripping over himself to get to her side, and they eye-fuck for the entirety of the reception. Like, this could potentially go in so many directions and I keep pondering them but I'm sticking with Breaking Dawn.
But the big difference between STL and Smoke and Mirrors is that Mary-Alice still has a modicum of hope that everything can work out - the Major is safe, so she's halfway there. Smoke and Mirrors Alice no longer believes in love or family; she believes in money and information. Feelings and attachments make a mess, and she hates mess. She might have a soft spot for Jasper, but she'd call that professional courtesy. (Hmmm, if only someone with insight to emotions could convince her that caring about someone is reward...)
I swear, I'm going to get you more of your fics in June. I just need this semester to be over immediately (or not immediately, because I still have so much work.)
jasper arguing with his seer girlfriend like he knows not to say some stupid shit but alice saw a glimpse of him saying it when he thought it and now theyāre both mad
asking for my thesis what do you think jalice's first time having sex was like in canon? like, what was the context? was it before or after he fell in love with her? would he had been anxious with some 19 century taboo? or do you prefer to go with the slut jasper direction? I've read some fics about their time before the cullens but most of them portrait alice as a soon-to-be wife who remains virgin until she meets him, but as much as i don't love this idea, i also think it's difficult to imagine how she could've had relationships with other people knowing it wouldn't work out because she was already in love with jasper. Just some random thoughts about canon-verse because ughh I love them so fucking much !!!!
That's actually a difficult one, Anon.
Do I think that SMeyer intended for Alice to be a virgin, and Jasper to be very proper and southern? Yes. Do I think that what we know about canon and the characters matches this intention? God no.
The author is dead, the characters are vampires, and this couple doesn't get nearly enough opportunities to be horny in canon, so let's have at it.
Things we know:
Their connection is different to the other couples because of their gifts - not lesser or more, just different because they both essentially have a sixth sense to communicate with.
Emmett made a point of joking about Edward and Bella taking out a house when they got married and Bella was changed, implying that control and restraint aren't features of a vampire finding their other half.
Alice is not exactly the portrait of impulse control in any of her actions in canon.
That neither Jasper nor Alice felt the need to get married or even considered legal, human marriage until Carlisle started nagging them, and then only did it once in the 50s and never again.
SMeyer described their connection as 'mystical'.
They're also perpetually nineteen.
So what does all that add up to?
Jasper arrives at the diner in the early evening during a storm, and is immediately bamboozled by Alice just smothering him in excitement and delight and adoration and hope. She's confident and chatty and isn't threatened by him at all. They talk at the diner briefly before they leave to wander the city (think The Storytellers You Kept Me Waiting short, but slightly more grim).
For one evening, Jasper lets himself hope. He lets himself go along with Alice and the world she paints. Hope for something better, to be the person she thinks he is. I don't think that Jasper could really pinpoint a single moment that he fell in love with Alice - it was a million different moments over their first few weeks together, and he'd say that he's still finding reasons to fall in love with her today.
And yes, I think that night ended in them having a lot of sex. I'm not a big fan of the hotel room - it feels very domestic, and an antithesis to the mystical aspect. I lean towards some kind of forest or half-forgotten park, as a reference to Alice awakening in a forest, to their wildness, and to the following two years of nomadic roaming. There's no real reason to wait - Alice doesn't have the awareness of social expectations or religious pressure, and Jasper's been living in a half-feral war zone where every day could be his last. Plus time passes very differently when you're immortal and don't sleep.
(I also think the restraint and implied Southern Manners we see in the first two movies is part of Jasper's human act. I don't think it comes naturally, and is part of the framework of his 'discipline' to abstain from animal blood, but YMMV on that specific Ted Talk.)
...Or, Alice and Jasper immediately fucked in the alley behind the diner after they met because: empath meets lack of impulse control and psychic visions is just the metaphorical 'mentos in Coke', but that's not the version they tell anyone because Carlisle was on their ass about pre-marital sex. Depends on what flavour I'm feeling, but I feel like what we know from canon supports both variations.
I honestly don't go for the Slut Jasper option because I don't think he, who was already deeply suffering with the emotional temperature of the South and the destruction of the newborns, would allow himself to create a further connection - no matter how brief - that would impact his duty. At most, I think he possibly had two physical relationships in the South: Maria, and *maybe* Peter. Considering what we know about Jasper's relationship with both, and their background, I do think there was *some* emotional entanglement for both parties. I mean, Jasper letting Peter and Charlotte run could be read as brotherly loyalty or as a disappointed, hurt ex finally letting go.
Alice's status before she met Jasper is a quandary because *surely* if Alice had friends in the wings, we would have heard from them in Breaking Dawn. Any kind of friend. But I generally have an issue with the fact that all the friends we hear from in Breaking Dawn originate as *Carlisle's* friends. That's fine for the immediate Cullen family, but for Alice, that rings false. I can't imagine a vampire with a personality like Alice not having sought out company of some kind.
(That's one of the parts of Openhome's Coalescence that makes sense to me: that Alice did have a network of friends that ultimately turned on her or became dangerous because of her gift.)
But I digress.
It also gives me something of the ick that if Alice is considered a virgin before she met Jasper, it means that the only alternative to precious, sacred virginity with the Cullen family is some kind of violent abuse (Rose and Esme). I do not care for that at all; it takes so much autonomy away from the female characters having healthy, safe, and fulfilling sex lives.
Not to mention the rather sad implications of what Alice would have suffered in a psychiatric hospital during that era. I'm not a huge fan of the idea that Alice is a pure, untouched creature that redeemed Jasper, especially with the Mormon lens of Twilight. I abhor the 'fairy' and 'pixie' vibe that the fandom has locked in with for this reason.
I feel like, vampire or not, the physical differences between Alice and Jasper would be more of a hurdle if Alice had no experience beyond her visions. Alice is nothing if not determined to make sure her visions come to pass exactly how she wants them to, so it would make sense that the logistics of sex would be something she would brush up on before they met.
So I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility in what we know about Alice in canon that she had a very pragmatic and practical hook up for 'lived experience' maybe once or twice. 'Bored and horny' is an absolutely valid reason to have sex, and Alice was alone with pictures in her head for twenty eight years. Plus she'd want to know what she liked, and reverse engineer what Jasper liked so she could get it right.
Girl is going to lock down that war criminal by any means necessary, and she's not above playing dirty to get what she wants.
That's not to say I see other interpretations as lesser or incorrect or that i avoid fics that utilise those interpretations in canon, that's just how I see it transpiring.
Okay, If we are talking about fave jalice fics in the moment, mine are definitely Anathema, HM and STL. Thats my TOP3 of all time.
And I adore Angel!Alice, canāt wait for the reunion in Jar of Hearts, Angel Alice in HS is absolutely BRIMMING with potential, and of course Demon Jasper and Feral Jasper are AMAZING
We live in a world where I am DETERMINED to finish STL's next chapter this winter. No excuses, Mary-Alice can power through her emotions (with Jasper lingering hopefully behind her). I've just got to power through this chapter, and then we're ALL going to be having a good time.
I just want to give you, like, the first three completed and edited chapters of Anathema so badly. If I ever get on Ritalin, this will be my first task: slamming out Anathema like I'm on fire. And I definitely feel like I owe you their first kiss for waiting sooooo long on this fic.
Heartbreaking Misunderstandings is hilarious to me because it was, like, one scene I dashed off four years ago and promptly forgot about and is suddenly an entire 'verse with backstory. It just fermented for a hot minute until we got all this. Alice and Jasper are so stubborn, there's going to have to attempts to woo the other, lots of slightly petty behaviour, and a happy ending.
Jar of Hearts is nearly done! I'm SO pleased with how it's turned out, it's so much better than the first draft. The wait was worth it. There's going to have to be a Jalice one-short following this chapter for Reasons. That might be held off for a little while because we're 2-3 chapters from the end at this point, and it would be more satisfying to finish up JoH before I write the one shots.
Demon Jasper is on loose hiatus because I stole the idea for my uni ofic and I, uh, have the write the entire novel next semester, so I need to funnel all my Demon Jasper energy into the ofic version. But that just means I'll spend more time on Demon Alice Angel Alice, both versions. The HS version is more of a longfic, and I'm still sour as hell that I lost a huge chunk of the original draft (thanks a lot Google.) OG Angel Alice has a smut mini-fic that I have been editing into something less horribly embarassing to post.
Feral Jasper and Mary-Alice has a whole plot now, and I think the next scene I'm posting is in canon-present day. They're in Forks and Mary-Alice is still a bossy menace who would immolate herself before she admitted having feelings.
I have 2.5 weeks til semester finishes, and then I'm back. I'm spending my time doing nothing but writing fic. Just flooding the internet with Jalice fic of varying ratings.
exes with history might be my favorite fic right now like lmaoooo are you writing a fic where these two weirdos fall in love and then break up because they weren't ready for a relationship and now they'll have to go through the paradox of living an eternal life thinking they'll never love someone as they loved each other but still left because pure love is when it doesn't matter how far the other is from you as long as they are happy but it ends up that none of them was happy at all??????
Give. It. To. Me.
Exes with history is a fever dream from a 5+1 fic I started because I needed the most chaotic version of Alice possible, and I feel like Jasper is the thing that stablises her somewhat. Without him, she's just a total mess.
And writing a twitchy, messy, chain-smoking Alice who is still head over heels for her war criminal? Is *so* much fun. She is an absolute walking disaster in this universe, and I need to do more slice-of-life moments for this fic with Alice at school and being her weirdest self. Because I've always believed that Alice and Jasper balance each other out; without Jasper, Alice is all over the place.
Jasper's equally as hopeless and head over heels; the man might not have spoken to Alice since the 50s, but goddamn he loves her. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her. Or to her. Or with her.
I cannot wait to work on this one more seriously (just three weeks til the end of semester, I cannot wait.) I need a plot outline first; whilst my initial instinct is to follow canon, we might go rogue. I'm undecided at this point.
But I wiggle that others are enjoying this as much as I am because I am having a ball writing it.
"I fucked up... I've never had my person, I've never..." he begins but she tilts her head to the side.
"You've always had me."
Those words break his heart.
What is even there to say? I can't keep waking up in a world where I read the news and I see schoolchildren bombed, millions of people displaced, old ladies carrying their cats and while their houses get turned into rubble, the waste of industry and human talent into bombs that shoot down other bombs.
Even the most just war of liberation is painful and regrettable, but you well know I'm not talking about that, we're watching first world countries sell weapons to feed endless war and just bombing targets like if it's a reflex act just what they do, the complete surrender of any hope of building a better world or coexisting and we're all treating this like it's just the natural state of things.
I'm sorry if I'm being dramatic but genuinely, get more anti war right now.
Warfare is not an inherent state of humanity, in any case, and it can and it will be abolished. I'm tired of people treating this like it's just the weather or nature. We know the material reasons behind war and they don't hold up and won't hold up forever.

not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
alice would hit jasper with 'would you love me if i was a worm' just for the shits and giggles. would jasper be absolutely bewildered or would he play along. personally im a fan of silly jasper when hes not under pressure
she asks him and jasper gives this asylum escapee a look like she's gone insane for real this time. and goes "of course??" while from two floors down emmett yells YOU'RE BASICALLY A WORM ALREADY. I STEP ON YOU BY ACCIDENT EVERY DAY
