Racy, sexy photos of Tilly DuPrix fall into Apollo's hands from an unknown source.
Apollo TRIES to look away, really, he does, but the god just can’t seem to take his eyes away from the pictures in his hands.
He s h i f t s uncomfortably in his seat. It’s then that he realizes where he isand his eyes dart around nervously.Even though he’s sitting in a busy street corner in New York,he still feels a bit self-conscious.
Who put these pictures here in the first place?
`uh, look--not that i don't appreciate the help, but--um--` jason is trying VERY, very hard not to sound rude. apollo might be laid back, and as close to a tolerable halfbrother as jason will ever get, but--he really doubts that piper is going to appreciate a romantic haiku in this particular card. `--i'm not sure poetry is what my girlfriend will be expecting on our one year anniversary. i-is--is there something ELSE i could do? i dunno. im not that--uh, GOOD with romance--`
Apollo gives Jason a good S L A P on the back and a smile almost as bright as the sun in the sky.
“HEY, kid – I’ve been around for much longer than you have. And it’s not like I don’t know what wins over the ladies. I’m thinking a poem is the PERFECT thing to put in! The cherry on top, if you would. She’ll be ALL OVER YOU in no time. Trust me. She’ll think it’s romantic as hell.
Now, let’s see your best HAIKU. You can’t woo her with that kind of attitude, you know. Give it your best shot!”
The god tries his hardest not to rub his hands together in anticipation.Gods, he LOVED IT when he got to see mortals crash and burn.
Annabeth raised an eyebrow at the god. Oh, so he wanted to play that game, eh? Maybe she should play along. Then again, she shouldn’t really be playing this kind of game with a guy who could burn her up on the spot, should she?
“Of course, Lord Apollo. Though, need I remind you that I am not only the architect, but a daughter of Athena as well, and I have not yet finished all of the temples. You curse me, and you’ll be getting on the bad sides of many other gods. Including Lady Artemis. Not to mention my mother.”
The demigod smiled innocently. “So you wanted at least half a dozen statues, right?”
-- OH NO SHE DIDN’T.
What was WITH mortals these days? Thinking they were all HIGH and MIGHTY. This girl needed to be put in her place, but Apollo’s better judgment prevented him from making any r a s h decisions at this point.
One day, Apollo. You’ll get her soon. You’ll get her good.
“ Y E A H , half a dozen, give or take. And I’d better be getting that wall-to-wall speaker system installed in my temple, too. Don’t forget the iPod jack. That’s IMPORTANT.”
Yeah, that was his father alright. If the perfect teeth weren’t enough to give it away, the way he spoke was enough confirmation. Will had never particularly cared for the nicknames revolving around Bill, but for his dad he’d make an exception. He hardly saw him, anyways, so as long as he could just talk to him he was happy.
… Or maybe not. He wasn’t sure exactly what Apollo did and did not know about his current romantic endeavors, and he wasn’t keen on telling his dad much about anything in regards to his affections. He was already getting enough dating advice from Lou Ellen, he didn’t need any more from the god of the sun. That would just be awkward as hell.
“Oh, yeah- I’m fine, totally fine. How about you?” Quick, divert his attention. Hopefully Apollo still liked talking about himself as much as he did when Will last spoke to him a few years ago.
Apollo q u i r k e d an eyebrow. “Oh, not bad, not bad. I can’t complain. SO, when were you going to tell me about your -- ahem -- current romantic endeavors?”
If the whole word-for-word quoting of the thoughts wasn’t enough of a hint, Apollo wanted to make CERTAIN that Will knew that he had the ability to get into his son’s mind. It was IMPORTANT for the boy to know where he stood, after all.
Of course he knew about Will. He’d known all along. He just wanted to hear it from the horse’s mouth.
Unsure of what to make for the strange reply, Ina laid back in the grass again, quietly yawning. She couldn’t hide her fatigue, but she wasn’t too concerned about Apollo giving her hell about it.
“I won’t say it no more.” She said in a whisper. “I don’t wanna hurt your feelings.”
Gods have feelings, right?
They get angry, and annoyed, and sometimes they hurt things because of it.
So maybe if I stop saying it, he’ll be happier.
“Hurt my feelings?” a male voice came from just beyond Ina’s field of sight. She lifted her head and frowned at the sight of a familiar male. She couldn’t remember his name, but Ina recognized him from a part of the Den that ran along the other side of the city.
“No. Not your feelings.” She replied tersely. It must have been the wrong thing to do, because he took a few steps towards the child.
Ina reached into her pocket. “You don’t wanna hurt me.” She warned him. It wouldn’t be the first time, (Or the last, she imagined) that Ina had defended herself against someone larger than she was. With her box-cutter in her pocket, Ina knew exactly where to aim to bring him down.
Go away, stupid boy. I was talking to my dad.
It looked like Ina wouldn’t pester Apollo anymore. The god felt a little bit relieved. He didn’t want any more MISUNDERSTANDINGS to occur, or have to explain himself further. It was pretty taxing.
He casually observed as Ina spoke with this boy. Gods weren’t allowed to interfere ( not that he really FOLLOWED that rule, anyways ) but he saw Ina reaching for her trusty box-cutter.
Ehh. She’ll be fine.
Still, though, this DID have the potential to get p r e t t y entertaining. The god grabbed himself another square of ambrosia and sat down to watch this unfold.
The day had been scorchingly hot, so of course Percy chose that particular day to wander aimlessly around the city. Annabeth had been working on some project, Grover had been gone for months, and his other friends were just… occupied. So Percy, being bored as he was, pulled on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts and set out in search of a street vendor. At least it would be someone to talk to.
He hadn’t even been paying attention to the guy until he turned and spoke. But then–

“Uh…” he reported intelligently, ears already flushing pink. He looked so much like Luke, and the unwavering confidence didn’t help any. An uncanny ache arose in his chest– he could only assume that it was some sort of grief. And his twelve-year-old memories were idealizing his actions, and gods he missed him.
But this was Apollo, and Apollo was annoying as all hell. But right now– gods, right now he was smiling, and if Percy were in sweltering heat and vaguely stunned, then he could imagine that Luke was back from the Isles of the Blest, reborn into the man before him.
“…yes?”
Oh. So he DID know this guy from somewhere. Apollo didn’t really want to tap into his all-knowing memory bank, ( especially since he was only here to get a hot dog ) but if he didn’t figure this out soon, it would bug him.
He fell silent for a moment, scrutinizing the boy with narrowed eyes. Then, a WIDE GRIN broke out on his face: in equal parts recognition and amusement.
“JACKSON! Percy Jackson, yes? Hah -- I almost didn’t recognize you! Camp’s been treating you well? How’s your archery coming along? -- Wait, you don’t need to tell me. I already KNOW how poor it is!”

“Uh- hi, Dad…? What’re you doing here?”
Apollo turned. Upon seeing Will, a small grin crossed his face. He figured it would only be a matter of time before the kid recognized him.
“HEY, little Billy! I can call you that, right? Heh -- of COURSE I can; I’m your dad. I’m just checking out the camp, seeing how everything’s going. I trust you’re fine?”
Tilly smiles at Apollo from across the room. For the first time in ages, she's in public with nothing but a bikini top and sarong on, enjoying the party on the beach. Normally she wouldn't be in something that showed her feet so plainly, but there were times when it paid to be around a bunch of drunks. "Hello, handsome. Imagine meeting you here."
Oh, Apollo KNEW, all right. He was the god of knowing, and he especially knew that Tilly was going to be here.
Why he had chosen to attend the party, though, was another matter entirely. There was still some tiny part of his braintelling him that this kind of stuff was forbidden:that he was her patron god and he REALLYshouldn’t be entering any sort of INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP with her.
But what were RULES if they weren’t meant to be broken?
He laughs. “Hey, Tilly! Nice to see you here too, sweetheart. Enjoying the party? I’m personally loving the tunes.”
Ina sighed, herself, unaware that she was echoing her father. She shrugged her shoulders noncommittally, and looked back down to the grass.
You’re a god. I know you think I’m small, and dumb, and I don’t get it I’m just a mortal. I know that. You’ve got loads of children a’side me. It was easier to communicate her feelings through her emotional thoughts than through words.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t love you. The only dad I ever knew was a monster. And it doesn’t seem fair that you think That because I’m mortal, I shouldn’t tell you I love you.
I know you can’t say it back. I can feel your love when you do things. but sometimes I have to say it because I gotta remind myself:
There’s someone out there
Who wanted me
Who made sure I was safe.
Even if he can’t say he loves me back.
“I know.”
-- Ina probably didn’t know that Apollo could read thoughts.
But he had HEARD. And -- what? Those weren’t TEARS. GODS don’t CRY -- -- especially not POWERFUL gods like him.
Still, though... finally hearing Ina’s perspective sent a wave of r e l i e f through the god. She understood! Even though she was young and mortal, she somehow understood the struggle her old dad had to go through.
He tried to speak, but his voice came out SOFT and WEAK instead of powerful like the sun he was in charge of.
[ . . . Good. Thanks for... understanding, dear. ]

Honestly, if she hadn’t recognized him, she might’ve shot him. However, generally mortals don’t just wander the middle of the woods, and at second glance, she was almost positive it was him.
“Lord Apollo. I trust you’re at our camp for a reason?” Gods don’t generally randomly visit the hunters, although she supposes they could. If they wanted.
“Phoebe!!”
Apollo’s tone was LOUD and GOOD-NATURED as he called out to the young huntress. He was glad he had run into her and not his little sis -- otherwise, Artemis would have kicked him out in a h e a r t b e a t .
He gave a small chuckle. “Nice to see you too, sweetheart. Is there anything WRONG with wanting to visit my little sis?”
+ incognitofred
“Lord Apollo. Can I help you with something?”
-- How strange.
To be honest, Apollo never expected a demigod to approach him in this manner, but she was the praetor, he supposed, and it would make sense that she, out of all the others at the camp, had come to talk to him. He gave her a G R I N .
“Thanks, Reyna. I was just checking out the camp. You know... see how everything’s going.”
I’m working on my verses page now, but I hope I’ll have time to get to my replies/starters by the end of today! :) In the meantime, I’d like to inform you that I just became a mod over at cabinsevenappreciation, so go show that blog some love!! :D
for rippintides
It had been a while since Apollo hung out in New York. He was only there for a short time, though, just to get one of those hot dogs from that one cart. The god had been craving them for, like, an hour. MAN, those were some good hot dogs.
He was waiting for his order to cook when he spotted a familiar face. He couldn’t quite place it, though... His mind started r a c i n g with the possibilities. Was it:
a former lover?
one of his kids?
some minor god?
a demigod?
Damn it, Apollo couldn’t put his finger on it. He smiled nonetheless, though, with an almost-blinding white grin.
“I’m sorry... do I know you from somewhere?”
Ina blinked her eyes open. She hadn’t fallen asleep just yet, but she knew that voice. Sitting up a little, grass sticking to her arms and hands, Ina looked towards the Sun.
I believe you was way far away from I love you, but she didn’t want to push her luck. Instead, she leaned forward, and hugged her knees.
“I miss you.”
The words escaped Ina before she could consider them properly. It was ridiculous to miss someone who wasn’t altogether present to start with. But perhaps there had been something back when she’d first met him that wasn’t there now. Something he had given her as Fred that he’d simply been unable to give her as Apollo.
I MISS you?!
Hearing those words sent a f l o o d of renewed anger through the god’s body. She’s just a kid, Apollo, he had to remind himself. She doesn’t know.
Apollo was used to people not knowing. But he had thought it was a known fact that gods and their children hardly interacted. It was against the rules ( not that Apollo was really one for the rules, anyways, but that was another story ).
He felt anger, true... but he really didn’t want to acknowledge the other feeling that was there, too: REMORSE. Why wasn’t he allowed to talk to his kids? It made it seem like he didn’t love them when, in fact, he did. This harsh reality HIT the god with Ina’s words.
He sighed. [ Look, Ina... I know you’re upset with me, but there are some things that I’ve got to do as a god. You can understand that... right? ]

“Okay, how much am I expected to add to your temple? Will it be a stupidly large number of statues like in the last one, or…?”
“Well, TECHNICALLY, if we’re speaking metaphorically here, you can leave me as much as you’d like. You don’t even need to give me ANYTHING at all.
But I’m not saying that it’ll help you at all with your little demigod life. And I’m not held responsible for any madness, rhyme-speak, or loss of vision that may follow.”
The god laughed good-naturedly. “It’s your call, sweetheart.”

When the clouds part and the sun shines down on her, Ina lifts her head. She feels… relief. There’s a feeling of exhaustion. Now that she’s not in Camp, she’s not sleeping so much… But with the sun shining on her, even if it’s just for a moment, Ina lays down in the damp grass, and shuts her eyes.
“Still love you.”
Apollo really doesn’t know how to feel about this puny little mortal child ( even if she WAS his daughter ). It was true that he was feeling a LITTLE bad about that whole confrontation bit with his sis -- and that Ina had overheard -- and then that she had run away from camp -- but, in his mind, that was the furthest thing away from a “still love you”.
After all, what gave her the freaking RIGHT?? She didn’t know about all he had to deal with, all he had to SEE and KNOW. All of the children he had to pay attention to. All she was concerned with was her own PUNY LITTLE MORTAL LIFE.
-- But, on the same token, what else had she to be worried about? Her actions were perfectly rational. He was a god, and she was... well, she wasn’t.
It may have been high time to apologize to the poor kid.
. . . [ I believe you, Ina. ]
