Hi,
I have decided to permanently end this account, which I had been considering taking off hiatus upon the release of Tess of the Sea. I love Rachel Hartman’s work and plan to continue reading all she writes, but so much of this blog was based around shipping, and having recently turned 18, I no longer feel that it would be appropriate for me to be a shipper in this fandom with so many characters who are minors. Sticking simply to platonic incorrect quotes seems difficult, and like more of a challenge than I’m up to; the pairing of Glisselda and Seraphina has meant so much to me as a young queer person, and I just don’t know how to separate that from the content I want to make on this blog. Even the other stuff is starting to make me uncomfortable knowing the gradually increasing age difference between myself and the characters. I just don’t want to have to grapple with that going forward.
I absolutely welcome any DMs from people looking to discuss Rachel Hartman’s books with me - I’m still a huge fan, of course! But I don’t want to be one of those adults who makes sexual jokes about teenagers or writes romantic fanfiction about them or anything like it. Honestly, it would probably be okay for me to do so for a few more years as I’m still very close in age to the characters in question (younger, in fact, than Kiggs), but I don’t want to have to decide where that cutoff would be.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported me on this blog. It’s a small community, but I’m grateful for each and every one of you.
Penny
