The writing of The Boys is kinda disappointing, because why didn't they wait longer to reveal Homelander as a murderous maniac??

It would have been so cool to get almost a full season in, trying to figure out what is up with this guy, who is so untouchable and so noble. How is this guy so dedicated to being a hero when everyone around him is terrible?

And then at the end of the season just have that all crash down around us, let the mask fall apart, let us be disappointed in ourselves for not knowing, for thinking the best of him.

It was a missed opportunity to not trick us as the audience just as much as the rest of society is tricked by the performance of the Seven
