The Obsessiveness of Lyme Brain After releasing music yesterday, I was very tired. Some interesting things happened last night, that have sparked my writing this. When I went to bed, I listened to the music I had just distributed. It sounded warped; a cross between a Wah pedal and varied distortion effects. I was so upset, I almost deleted everything; when a voice whispered gently, “Your brain is just tired. Dear heart, go to bed.” Lyme leaves one with many issues, especially if it gets into the brain. Along with the brain damage, PTSD, severe anxiety, depression, and OCD; it is amazing any of us are functioning at all. I can actually feel, when my brain is trying to connect things now; something that happened as a result, of Lyme. Normally when people do things, it is all at the same time and one doesn’t notice when the brain is firing. It all happens cyclically. When I do things, every single thing; I do, is an action. So, in the case of guitar playing and singing: Opening my mouth and singing is two actions, holding a pick, strumming, each finger used for a chord, then in the case of recording; singing into the mic, pressing a button to record, looking at music and reading every word (because my memory is shot) way over 20 things my brain is firing, that I feel. This includes concentration on my vocal chords; the left side is partially paralyzed and drops out, sometimes with no sound at all or suddenly makes me sound like Lurch. Then, there is fingerpicking style. This was something I just was not getting. I was determined to learn this though, at least with some of the songs I write. I actually had, a mini seizure; the day I forced myself to learn this. Obsessive.
