“welcome  to  earth,  loki,”  she  gestures  around  them,  she's  standing  now,  a  laugh  in  spite  of  the  words  bubbling  over  -  it  must  be  the  heat  making  her  dazed.  “this  whole  place  is  one  big  polluted  tide.” 

and  she  loved  it  so,  so,  dearly.

“why  thank  you!”  how  utterly  diabolical!  she  plops  down  like  he's  pulled  out  the  seat  for  her  at  a  fancy  dinner  table.  she  watches  the  two  chairs  disappear  from  right  underneath  the  owners,  and  just  a  few  steps  away,  their  snacks  are  being  pillaged  by  some  renegade  seagulls.  it's  the  little  things.  she  loves  watching  -  digits  brush  loki's  wordlessly  as  she  tries  to  get  his  attention  so  he  can  see  too,  behind  them,  the  gulls  nabbing  cheetos  like  little  thieves.

it's  silly.  and  she  likes  to  watch  nature  run  its  course.  and  the  beach  is  all  about  people  watching  sometimes.  but  right  now,  there  is  no  one  ahead  of  them.  she  had  to  glance  back  over  her  shoulder  to  steal  that  peek  and  now  she's  facing  forward  again. 

towards  endless  blue.

her  cheeks  are  flushed  pink.  everything  about  her  is  pink,  her  shoulders,  the  blush  at  her  chest,  sunkissed.  her  hands,  her  knees. 

she'd  lathered  on  sunscreen  to  the  brim  for  fair-skinned  features  but  no  matter  how  careful  kate  was,  she  tended  to  singe,  if  not  on  worse  days,  she  burned.  “think  you  could  conjure  up  an  umbrella  while  you're  at  it?”

there  were  hundreds  of  chairs  purchased  from  the  same  dick's  sporting  goods  down  the  shoreline.  besides,  kate  wasn't  too  concerned  about  the  thought  of  them  being  confronted.  they  could  always  lie.  say  they  rented  it  from  the  vendor  rolling  the  cart  on  the  sand.  “maybe  one  of  those  big  floppy  hats?”

she  wondered  how  many  things  he  could  steal.  it  felt  a  little  like  a  game,  and  a  bit  of  a  challenge.  “a  strawberry  daquiri…  obviously  something  for  you  too.”

daydrinking  on  the  beach  sounded  so  divine,  now  she  really  couldn't  remember  the  last  time  she'd  had  a  little  vacation.  this  was  hardly  a  getaway  -  this  was  a  beach  date,  but  she  would  love  an  entire  week  filled  with  this,  at  some  overpriced  resort,  and  unlimited  food.

“actually,  we  could  just  go  to  mexico?”  was  that  cliche  of  her?  she  remembered  her  sister's  bridal  party  performing  indulgent  acts  in  tulum.  that  sounded  quite  ideal  now.  “every  time  i  get  a  break,  it's  cut  short,  or  something  happens,  i  feel  like  i  never  really  let  myself  take  a  break.  do  you?”

he  could  spell  the  chairs  from  across  the  beach.  he  could  take  them  to  other  planets  across  the  galaxy.  surely  they  could  go  across  the  border?

“it  doesn't  have  to  be  right  now,”  she  lowers  her  sunglasses  down  the  bridge  of  her  nose,  she's  peering  over  at  him  with  a  knowing  smile,  meeting  his  gaze,  “or  it  could  literally  be  right  now.”

she  fixes  her  sunglasses,  prepares  to  sunbathe.  “let  me  know,”  she  leans  into  the  seat,  “i'm  flexible.”  with  her  schedule,  of  course.  “i'm  open."  gently  nudging,  "i'm  down.”

loki sees the day's heat creeping slow and sloppy across her cheeks, her shoulders, her chest and hands. blotchy, deeper in the valley's of her body than the bony peaks but he likes this about kate.

she is unapologetic about her existence, he thinks. though maybe at times blind to that very fact, which only further endears her to him. it isn't that he thinks she thinks herself perfect, more that she knows she isn't and dares the world to have a problem with that.

loki is gazing upon her so fixedly that he hardly notices the birds battling for dominance over cheetos, until her fingertips catch at his knuckles. with a start that jostles his shoulders the umbrella is stolen conjured and the gulls scatter, cackling in mad protest as if the magic reached out and plucked at their tail feathers.

now his gaze follows them, a hum pressed soft between his lips, "larus argentatus smithsonianus. i like that they laugh. sorry, what else did you want? ah-"

a hat, floppy, wide brim and all. a woman sporting one made of straw loses hers and it appears in his hands with a snap.

"i'm rather surprised i've been allowed to have this break. if you want more, and for my company in particular I mean, you'll need to beg my parole officers for permission. i can not leave without it, sweetling." his smile is careful, guarded. he doesn't want to hope, but it's there and trying to uncurl into something wide and bright. she's contagious.

He was going to be late. Loki smoothed a hand through his lengthy, slicked back hair and when it lifted away the hair was short, neat and above the ears.

And a dirty strawberry blonde.

"You are quite right about that, you are here and no one else will be. I'm leaving."

And not the easy way, not by winking out of existence, because that would be far too easy and neither Wong nor Strange enjoyed Loki having much ease when it came to things, unless it benefitted a wider audience it seemed.

No, he was going to have to shake her by being quick on his long legs. Loki, in his midgardian attire (long sleeved white shirt, jeans, and steel-toed boots as there were safety rules per this OSHA thing they all moaned about on the job sites) set off to cut around her.

when i was 14 my best friend of three years at that point was freshly out of a mental health facility after she was caught cutting herself. she was doing a lot better for the most part and we were both starting off high school together so things were looking up.

well one night she called me and said she was going to drive her grandma's car to dallas to help her "brother"... basically she was trying to save this friend she met online because they were dealing with bad abuse at home. i thought she had to be joking though because there was no way she could drive even if she kinda knew how, and she wasn't going to seriously steal her grandma's car??? so when she asked for me to come i laughed and said no thanks but good luck.

she did do that, as it turns out. she might have made it too but she had taken her allergy meds religiously and those made her sleepy... she fell asleep at the wheel and yeah. got in a wreck and didn't survive.

i can guarantee yall that if she were still alive today our gay asses would be married. like for real she was amazing and her death and struggle with depression and self harm has always been something i carry with me. so when i got a tattoo it was this, like that "to write love on her arm" thing, just a reminder for myself whenever i struggle and something that i have been able to use when talking to others also struggling.

tbh right now i am mostly part of the marvel fandom and I think it's fine? esp. x-men rp <3

i think it's easy to feel you don't belong when you are brand new and not constantly chatting with people ooc too tbh. i think this isn't a fandom in the real sense of that word ... but the "oc" fandom is booming and depending on where you are trying to fit in ... that can be hard?

not that people aren't accepting, but more like you have to spend time building relationships both ooc and ic, and when it's an OC you are already doubting yourself quite a bit in a way that is different than when you play a canon that people are already craving, whether you write that canon well or not.

on my multi it's hit or miss there but i know a lot of it has to do with me being unavailable to form those bonds authentically. i'm okay with that. do i miss being able to jump into these fun little threads with people? sure, but i know why there is a gate there and i don't have the energy/time to open it all the way yet.

i'm happy to admit it and am thankful for those that will still take me on despite this.

one thing i will mention. just one. and if you do this.... just know that i do not judge YOU, not fully. but it DOES drive me insane...

when people use flowery, old-timey word choices when writing a muse and it makes zero sense and sounds so awkward.

Ohhhh uhhhh... tbh I don't have many at all? I've grown to be very "whatevs" about how people run their blogs.

There are things that I personally do NOT have the energy to do myself and that includes remaking icons with new icon borders or hmmm I don't tend to archive a blog just to remake it. The only one I ever truly did that for was Darcy after YEARS.
