hi im working on some ocs <3 what do we think of lycanthropy and/or vampirism as a metaphor for specifically trans identities?

I'm fascinated by the monstrous representation of a return to who you really are, unburdened, rather than a curse that makes you less than. The "unsettling", inhuman parts; drinking blood, turning into a beast, are what happen when they push so much of their true selves down they can't be held back anymore.

The "monster" can even frighten themself while they struggle to accept who they are isn't wrong, many people just simply can't see them as anything more than "unnatural" or their assigned gender at birth.

I have a lot more thoughts i might share but i rlly would love other opinions !! this is something that excites me v much. the characters i'm writing are also explicitly trans, which i want to pair with the more fantastical elements of vampires and lycanthropy that we know so well.

Hear me out,

Werewolf Robby, vampire Jack, and monster hunter Dennis with religious guilt.

Some shit happens and Dennis is on the verge of death and the only way to save him is by turning him, so Jack does.

Except now he's a freshly turned vampire who doesn't know how to do shit in his new body, so he's stuck with this old ass vampire and his hairy husband he tried to kill the week before.
