hello everyone! my name is rook, or emma, and i am here to provide continuous updates on shimaa and ahmed’s campaigns from now moving forward. as stated previously, i will be managing the communication with shimaa and ahmed to assess their current needs, and simk will be the one graciously handling the financial portion of our campaign. if you have any questions about this, please message me directly. i am happy to respond. :)
today, i am here to discuss our current updates on our campaign to feed the people in gaza. ahmed, the person we are sponsoring for this campaign, lives in a refugee camp of 200-250 people. he has taken it upon himself to work tirelessly for his community, working to give aid and distribute food to everyone in the refugee camp. many of the people in this refugee camp have lost everything, or are dependents - the children and the elderly, who must rely on assistance to survive. his campaign has been vetted by association through my and simk’s friend, @its2shimaa, who we have been speaking to for quite some time to discuss her own campaigns.
here is the current breakdown for how we plan to use your donations to our campaign:
1. feeding people! our primary goal!
2. acquiring winter supplies
the weather in palestine can get quite cold and, due to its location near the sea, rains can come and temperatures can drop quite suddenly. since many people have the clothes on their back, this weather can be quite punishing.
with our last campaign, ahmed was able to buy clean water and baby formula for the camp! please see our efforts here.
simk very generously covers bank transfer fees on their end, as well as transfer fees incurred during the process of donating through paypal. however, the withdrawal fee on ahmed’s end is ~$100 due to the price gouging during the war.
as a result, we do not send money until we have collected over $100. the more money we can send at once, the better!
it is prudent to keep in mind that the needs of people currently living in gaza are constantly changing. please be aware that donations could be used in order to secure more urgent needs at the time. simk and i will continue to be transparent with you on how funds are being allocated.
to provide for everyone in the camp, we have set a goal of raising $950.

per ahmed’s request, simk and i are collecting money on his behalf. we will be using the same method to transfer money to him as we have been using to transfer to support to shimaa. the money that is collected will be sent via wire transfer to ahmed, and it takes 3-5 days to arrive.
once the money arrives, ahmed will take videos and photos to document the process of buying and cooking food for everyone. i will share selected videos and photos on my blog so that you all can see what we can do with our collective efforts!
a small note here: to preserve the privacy and dignity of the displaced, and to avoid issues with the tumblr staff, i will be careful with what i choose to show publicly. ahmed will also refrain from publishing his own photos on social media for this same reason. if you have any other specific requests you would like to see as proof of your donation going to good use, please DM me.

i am pleased to announce that we jumped from $483 to $794 within about a day and a half. that is a ~35% increase that happened basically overnight. thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your assistance - this has been so lovely to witness, and i am so glad to see it.
as a marker of my excitement to close this campaign, i will be clearing the final $50 hurdle towards our goal. that means once we reach $900, i will donate the remainder so that we can get this money to good use as soon as possible. i can’t promise that i will do this for every campaign - but i want to implement this rule for each campaign that comes!
