Kate honestly sort of lost control of her Quirk a lot-- not in a really big, destructive way like the incident that actually ended up with Aizawa and All Might having to come to the states to get her, but

like when she was a kid, when she was still sort of getting used to it, she’d have seizures a lot- like she’d just start shaking real fast and crackling with rainbow lightning and her eyes would glow white and she’d be off having a weird dream(vision) and then wake up w a killer headache afterwards.

Also since it seems to be tied to her emotions, when she was back in the abusive environment of her grandparents’ house/catholic school, it would just kind of slip out when she got upset, which was a lot, and the more she tried to keep a lid on it/the more people tried to make her keep a lid on it/emotionally abuse it/her autism/ADHD/general personality out of her the worse it got.

When she got to UA, people started looking at the underlying factors and her whole sort of state of mind/etc. and started figuring out how to help with THOSE so the Quirk thing wouldn’t be as intense, which was... kind of bizarre to her at first

like ‘wait, so-- you guys DON’T just want me to stop being bad, or... me, I guess?? You’re actually THINKING about this?? Wait, there’s-- there are actually things different about my brain? I’m not just a devil child sent to torment my god-fearing grandmother for not being able to keep her daughter on the straight and narrow-minded path???’

And then ofc she got MAD but all in all it’s working pretty well--

like she’s on some ADHD meds now, and something similar to epilepsy medication but specifically for Quirks, and she can stim and sit how she wants during class, and can pretty much do anything that makes her feel comfortable (within reason) instead of just ‘girls have to sit with their knees together, sit up straight, make eye contact, don’t chew on your hair, don’t play with your jewelry, Quiet Hands™️‘ etc.

So all of that adds up to actually having a lot more voluntary control over it than she did before, and now she’s actually learning to DO stuff with it instead of her previous method which was just ‘stand in the same area as the guys you wanna fuck up and then just let it go ape’

#it’s always really been a big part of her #moreso than other ppl and their quirks #cuz like....#(first it’s not just a ‘quirk’; it’s probs a little bit of cosmic energy or something)#(or echoes of herself from other realities; bc something I haven’t really gotten to talk about is how all kates are sort of connected)#(like the multiple reflections when ur standing between two mirrors)#and also it’s so close w her emotions and biorhythm that it basically IS them #but u unfuck the brain situation as much as possible and it stands to reason the quirk will improve too #like w eri #(heck actually kate would probably LOVE eri)#(It’s Free Little Sister)#(HEY ua is MY legal guardian too!! that means we’re kind of like family huh??)#{I'll Be Your Lucky Girl; mun tag}#{Vibrant Vigilante//Dazzling Delinquent;; bnha/mha verse}#{Sparking Soul~ musings}

What if Kate’s Quirk was sort of like 1-B’s big secret/secret weapon

(probably Monoma’s idea)

Or not even like that but when she gets to UA she doesn’t use it as much as she did when she was basically living on the streets (and part of that is actually probably her getting help for her general brain-state for the first time in her life so she’s like on medication now and is actually allowed to stim and etc.), so she doesn’t lose control of it as much, so it’s hard to tell what it is,

like 1-A will see her doing parkour on the 1-B dorm building/on the frickin school building itself/somehow managing to outrun and escape Iida and the security bots and even the teachers n be like ‘is she super agile?? can she jump really far?? can she disappear?? does she have superspeed???’

n then during one of the combat training classes she just LETS LOOSE with Seven Colors and 1-A is just there like ∑(ﾟﾛﾟ〃)
