the funniest part of the whole elden ring dlc discourse is that everyone unequivocally forgave mohg. I love how basically everyone straight up said:

Did not hate Mohg to be honest but I found his ploy to be really questionable and something's off really. The thing with Elden Ring, it will teach you to hold any judgments first because every character has his/her own agenda.

Except for the moment when Varre tells you that you are maidenless. Varre's an asshole you know. LOL.

With things going on nowadays, there is this feeling that safe spaces online - without the proliferating hate, prejudice or jerk behaviour - is like finding tiny gold nuggets in a mine. Everybody seemed agitated and on the edge, unforgiving even in correcting your context or grammar. Can we bring back the old days of the internet? When people are creating, sharing and just connecting with everyone?

Elden Ring (Shadow of the Erdtree) is like that difficult math class that a lot of people are complaining about but refuse to learn the fundamentals first.

When you learn old languages from Elden Ring

This is one of the reasons why I love Elden Ring: I end up in spending time in reading item descriptions and wandering into etymology rabbit holes. The game is very good in utilizing old English words and it adds another layer of mystery and learning.

A bit of it's etymology:

(S)keh - a reconstruction of the word, "darkness" in Proto-Indo-European.

"Skadwaz" in Proto-Germanic.

"Skadu" is a form of the word in Proto-West Germanic.

"Sceaduwe", "Sceadwe", "Sceadu" in Old English.

"Schadowe", "Schadwe", "Schadewe" from Middle English.

So, it is spelled as "Scadu" but pronounced as "Shadow".

Note: We refer to these as "Skibidi Fragments" as a pun. LOL.

Elden Ring Streamer Beats Tough DLC Boss With Her Mind

A popular streamer does the unthinkable, defeating a tough boss in Elden Ring's new Shadow of the Erdtreee DLC with her mind.

Millisecond differences in brain to physical interface signal makes a lot of difference. She eliminated the need of the brain to activate hand muscles and nerves in the use of the controller - which in a way, a sort of latency (delay) if you factor in physical limits and obstructions. It is a very useful piece of tech (especially for the disabled) and could lead to potential controller designs in the future (one of the way to lessen or eliminate risk of injuries like carpal tunnel and RSI).

So.... direct brain-physical device interface will be much faster for her. I am now curious how she will fare with the later bosses in the game because apparently, they're mad and fast.

I have been exploring games lately - Ghost of Tsushima last May and now, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Nothing really spoilery here but I can't help but share this screenshot.

Art direction in Elden Ring is absolutely gold standard.

Also, don't get dissuaded with the mixed reviews on the difficulty levels - a lot of it are people shooting themselves in the foot, not really understanding the souls genre really.

If you have got the game - enjoy! It's really difficult to put the controller down so I have to not think about this game during weekdays. LOL.

I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.

For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.

When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

It was Aurora Borealis all over Friday night, thanks to the severe geomagnetic storms caused by the sun's really active phase (solar maximum). Here are some of my shots from our backyard. First time to see the aurora this further down south.
