Sitton Peak is easy, fun and blissful
Sitton Peak is easy, fun and blissful
Yesterday with a couple of hiking/trail running friends, I ventured out to Ortega mountain. Destination: Sitton Peak in Cleveland National Forest! As I am getting into trail running without any reservation as part of injury recovery process (easy on my joints) and benefits from running uphills (interval uphill run), I took my time hiking and trail running up Bear Canyon Trail to Sitton Peak. (mor…

1 Way To Keep The Big Dream Alive Is Trail Running
1 Way To Keep The Big Dream Alive Is Trail Running
Past Sunday I had my first opportunity in trail running. Running friends who enjoy both street running and trail running regularly and I were gathered at Coastal Peak Park, Irvine, for a 9 miler. The December morning was slightly on the chilly side at 8 am, but once we started running, it got warmed up. (more…)

How This Year's Goal Was Successfully Accomplished
How This Year’s Goal Was Successfully Accomplished
Four months ago when I suspanded my BQ training, I had no idea how everything would turn out. What was going through my mind is hard to describe. Disappointment and discouragement can’t describe it all but close. My both feet were in pain, let alone the tight left hamstring and the bad right knee. (more…)

Failed Goat Canyon Trestle Hike via Mortero Palms Trail
Failed Goat Canyon Trestle Hike via Mortero Palms Trail
Gina, a hiking friend, invited me on a desert hike initially planned as her solo hike to Goat Canyon Tresle via Mortero Palms in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Due to the fact that we started late, we were forced to turn around a quarter after 3 pm, but it was quite an adventure. (more…)

San Gorgonio Hike via Vivian Creek, Teeing Off at the Summit and Flying Drone
I don’t know how many times I’ve bagged San Gorgonio Peak so far. I’ve lost count. But I’ve been away so long that I even forgot a few turnoffs on Vivian Creek Trail. Honestly though it was just great to be back out there again! Again, the view of San Jacinto Mountain was so majestic! (more…)

Gathering at Placerita Canyon Hiking Trailhead for Zion National Park Flash Flood Victims
Gathering at Placerita Canyon Hiking Trailhead for Zion National Park Flash Flood Victims
It was a seriously hot day, hovering 104F degrees in Valencia. The weather gets at least 10-15 degrees hotter there than the towns by the ocean. But it didn’t stop VHC hikers from gathering for a cause. People got together at the Placerita Canyon Hiking Trailhead to pay respect for those who fell victim in the flash flooding in Zion National Park. (more…)

Temescal Canyon Hike to Scull Rock and Farmers Market
Temescal Canyon Hike to Scull Rock and Farmers Market
A hot day for hiking, but I was not going to sit around home all day when it’s so nice out… unless I have a book to finish reading… and I do… But, besides, I wanted to see how bad the discomfort that hijacked my injured and yet recovering foot was. The day after last Friday’s 7.26 miler, it is an understatement to say that it was just unpleasant. So, I wanted to see if it was okay to handle a…

Mt. Baldy Hike via Bear Canyon and Run To The Top Race
Mt. Baldy Hike via Bear Canyon and Run To The Top Race
This Mt. Badly hike via Bear Canyon was the first hike that I have done in the past 5 months or so. I had taken time off from hiking completely in order to concentrate on marathon training till regrettably my foot injury sidelined me several weeks ago. As it is healing, I’ve just started recovery runs, but since I could still feel slight discomfort, instead of pounding the pavement every time…

Recovery Week 3 – Pulled Muscle, Muscle Relaxant, Pain Medication and 4.5 Mile Recovery Run and Cycling Class on Labor Day Weekend
This past week was all about pain and excitement – dealing with the unexpected pulled back muscle, followed by a recovery run, and keeping up with cardio via cycling at the gym. More recovery runs are in order now, but I am definitely not rushing it. (more…)
