Lace bug (Stephanitis typicus) looks like stained glass
[ID: A picture of a lace bug. Its wings are divided into small sections by golden lines, the space in between the lines is shimmering in pinks, blues and yellows.]
whenever i complete chores i get an achievement banner pop up in my head dark souls style
any time that white old lady in the tumblr ads changes position I get scared I feel like the next ad is going to be a picture of the couch empty and I'm going to start seeing her around town
My favorite trope in shows, particularly dubbed anime, is when all of the characters have Japanese names, except for that one guy. Tahagi Tenori, Yura Reibiki, Desawa Suno, and Tommy.

The worst thing you can do, as someone who has recently realised they are transfem, is to let terves and transphobes convince you cis women will never accept you.
I was told that when I came out everyone would reject me. That I would find myself isolated from the world, and from other women especially, who would react to me with horror and revulsion.
In reality, within the first months of coming out, in no particular order:
My sister's reaction on my coming out was, "Right, so I have a sister instead of a brother. Cool. I'm taking you clothes shopping tomorrow."
A friend, when she learned I am a woman, immediately invited me to her women-only, girls-night-out birthday party the following week.
Another friend, when a friend of hers expressed doubts about my gender, immediately shut them down and reaffirmed I am a woman.
I went camping with a group of friends, and we had two tents, one for the boys and one for the girls; I was unsure as to which I should enter, to which a girl friend responded by grabbing me and physically dragging me inside the women's tent.
In the women's bathroom at a movie theatre a random woman, whom I'd never seen before and haven't seen since, stopped me as I was going into a stall, to warn me there was no toilet paper in there, because she'd just used the last of it.
All of these, and more, some from friends, some from complete strangers. All within a few months, as a trans woman who hadn't started medical transition yet, and was very visible as being a trans woman.
I've had some people reject me, true, but the vast majority, including almost all cis women, accepted me as a sister with open arms.
Cis women are cool. It's terves who are bigots.

A minecraft seed that has something deeply wrong with it.
This seed deserves special mention for having (at least) 13 ancient cities within 1,500 blocks of spawn. This is one of those seeds where they're more common than villages.
Right near spawn it becomes apparent that something is...not right about the mountains
at least, when you are confronted with THIS motherfucker unlimited. Note the level of the clouds.
For the uninitiated, terrain can only generate below y level 256. That flat plateau? Is at y=255.
Mountains are supposed to taper into peaks in Minecraft. This mountain looks like it was just chopped off at the height limit.
This whole seed is full of some truly dramatic mountains. This beautiful mountain range, for instance.
I checked out the seed on Chunkbase and found another area where the altitude seemed unexpectedly high, and traveled out there:
This range of stony mountains is by far the most dramatic terrain I have ever found. Like the mountain near spawn, these mountains also have weird flat plateau-like areas at y=254 or so, as if they were suddenly chopped off at the top.
It's almost like the game tried to create a much, much higher mountain, but was stopped by the height limit for terrain generation.
That's weird enough, but it doesn't really get creepy until you go underground.
This is underneath the mountains near spawn. That sculk growth is an expected thing to find under mountains, where the Deep Dark biome generates...but something's off here.
The Deep Dark biome is supposed to generate below y level 0, waaaaay way deep underground. But this sculk is all the way up at y=106.
That's not only over 100 blocks higher up than it's supposed to be, it's above the normal level of the ground! The surface in low lying areas in Minecraft tends to be around y=65-80!
The same weird thing is happening underneath the stony mountain range. The sculk growth has climbed far above sea level, when it's not supposed to do that.
Weird...

WELCOME TO THE TUMBLR SEXYREMATCH
Hi, I'm sexymanotd. You may know me as the asshole from twitter who ran the original Tumblr Sexyman Tournament. I have tumblr polls now. Who's up for round two?
Here's the bracketâ
Each round will last one day, and each matchup will get their own post. They'll all be tagged "#round one" etc on my blog, and I'll also update this masterpost with links to every poll.
Btw, my inbox is open for links to any fanart that might get made this time around.
As always, I hate some of these characters and I hope they get obliterated, and the winner will be taken to Baskin Robbins and given a small cone. My treat.

if youâre ever about to comment on a writerâs work and think, oh, they probably know how good they are, youâre definitely wrong. every time a writer posts or publishes anything, no matter how many years theyâve been doing it and no matter how many readers they have, they are struck with the idea that perhaps they arenât very good at all.
if you think youâre annoying for commenting, or that we wonât see your comments anyway, youâre wrong. we see your comments. we actively look for them. we are starved for them no matter how many we get. we remember them and they fuel us. leave comments, even if itâs just saying âoh i like thisâ. i see an âoh i like thisâ and my heart grows three times its size and i am seized with an urge to provide you more writing just to hear you say âoh i like thisâ again.
It's so funny, because I didn't realize this until I started posting fic regularly myself, but there is genuinely no way for a fic author to tell that you even read their work, let alone liked it, if you just click off when you're finished.
It feels like they should knowâof course you read the fic! You just had fifteen emotions in a row about it! But they don't know, because you haven't told them. All they know is that the 'hits' counter went up by one more, which means someone clicked on it, and then probably didn't read more than a sentence before clicking off.
And alright, maybe it feels like it doesn't matter, because they're not ever going to know that you read it in the first place, so why should you even leave a kudos/like, let alone comment?
Becauseâand I say this as both a fic writer and readerâit means they know someone actually read it. Every time they get proof that someone actually read the whole thing from start to finish, it gives them just a little more evidence that it was actually worth it to put the fic out into the world, and that's a little more chance that they're going to keep writing and posting.
I never guessed that in my adulthood, Iâd be relating to Calvinâs parents as much as I do in this comic.
Because damn ⊠Calvinâs dad was so right.
This is part of an arc where their house got broken into and they have to deal with the ensuing fallout.
Calvin and Hobbes was some real shit, my dude.
Reading Calvin and Hobbes as an adult is a VERY different experience than reading it as a kid.

HOLD UP HOW WAS I NOT AWARE OF THIS
was gonna leave my comment in the tags but tbh iâm silent enough about this as it is.
seeing stuff like this is so upsetting because these terms were well known and widespread in the ace community but because of exclusionists many people stopped using terms like this because they felt uncomfortable and unsafe.
i loved these terms when i was in highschool, i loved the feeling of community, but i lost that because i didnât feel comfortable openly and proudly calling myself asexual.
theyâve hurt so many people and damaged our community badly and i will never forgive them for that. we deserve to use our own terminology and feel safe within our community.
sometimes i notice i havenât seen âgraceâ (grey-ace) in a while and consequently wonder if i made it up.
I remember ppl - even other ace ppl - saying the card suit thing was âcringeyâ and âstraight ppl arenât gonna take us seriouslyâ (sounds familiar?) So i guess the community wound up abandoning it. We were also having severe issues at the time with aces being stereotyped as âchildish/immatureâ for associating things like cake, dragons, and space with asexuality, plus in general as most aces just donât âgetâ allosexual things in media and irl. We were starting to be viewed as ignorant, virginal, childish, losers, etc. I havenât seen an ace-cake thing in a good while now.
This was the infancy of exclusionary influence on us. I didnât realize it did more damage than just closeting us. Whole symbols and terms have been lost. Community has been lost.
I remember three-four years ago I got myself into the ace community on Insta, and I came across these terms. People in these circles would talk about cake, space, dragons, and the black ring on the middle finger. Then, a year or two later, ace content fizzled out (I thought it was Instaâs algorithm figuring out that I knew all this and didnât bring me the old stuff) and young aces had no idea what any of these were - including the black ring. Finding out young aces had no idea what the black ring meant nearly snapped my heart in two - I proudly wore the black ring, I drew characters with it, and it was my quiet way of communicating to others what my sexuality was. I was baffled at the lack of knowledge - and it turns out that exclusionists got their hands into our community and snuffed us out.Â
Anyways, we need to bring this back. I thought the card suite thing was cool, it taught people the different ways people can experience attraction, I loved making jokes about preferring cake, I loved wearing the black ring and talking about it with my fellow queer people at my highschool QSA club.Â
Iâm sorry, people donât know about the cake or ring anymore? I remember being welcomed with spams of cake gifs, photos, and MS Paint drawings. I also distinctly remember that the block solo ring in the midle was meant as reference to the Ace of Spades (black, solo, middle of card). Only thing I didnât know was that other aces could represent a more refined nuance. Letâs see if we can get this all rolling again.
Welcome to anyone who is interested in helping with the culture revival.
