Nectar of you

TROTRO TELEPORT THEORY
The write experience 3: TROTRO TELEPORT THEORY maps shared histories of language, spirituality and creative cultures in West Africa. The festival takes us on a mobile(traveling) artists residency from Accra through Aflao and Lome to Togoville. Artists from several parts of West Africa will connect to work on an experimental video that fuses folk storytelling poetry, music and vodou dance . The project culminates in a concert on the 25th of January at Alliance Française Accra (Amphitheatre) where we show the experimental video and stage live performances of folk poetry, a dance installation, contemporary jazz and Porpor music by Nii Noi Nortey and the Accra Trane Station band from 1968 La Drivers Union Porpor music group.

EVENT PRESS RELEASE:
Last year, THE WRITE EXPERIENCE had a strong message about the essence of appreciating our environment through a fusion of poetry, live jazz music, graffiti and contemporary dance. By popular demand, Inkfluent brings you the second edition, dubbed: “Healing Handicapped Homes”.
The event explores how art can be used as a tool to heal and keep us aware in the midst of society's drag. This is another kwame write concept composed of an animated collage of film, poetry, live music and contemporary dance featuring a collaboration with artist Serge Attukwei and performances by Rewrite Crew, Jude Kurankyi, poets from Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin, as well as a live music session by Humble International Band(an extraordinarily talented team of persons with blindness) aside a few surprises.
The fusion is based on Africa's intrinsic visual and oral context and the dynamism of body, action, space, time and energy, also using technology as an innovative means to explore the realities of displacement due to natural or artificial effects. The result subtly creates the awareness of fragility of existence and the concrete belief in transformation when a collective of broken societies merge.
THE WRITE EXPERIENCE is a long-term project aimed at bringing together artists from different parts of Africa for cultural exchange and social activism; reflecting on the Scramble for Africa(the artificial drawing made among European powers which started with the Berlin Conference of 1884–85) and its after-effects due to the creation of African political boundaries. We combine history and trajectory of contemporary experimental forms mixing local, anglophone and francophone dialects.
This particular edition remarkably involves persons with disabilities in performances to express individuality and the limitless healing abilities of the human touch. Even as a continent, made up of independent but handicapped bits, how does our connectedness aid our growth?
Don't miss out on the THE WRITE EXPERIENCE II

REMINI(SCENE) CHALE WOTE 2014:
There was also the Poet Procession Performance through the streets of Jamestown which saw more than 20 poets participating and performing at 3 different vantage points, speaking about tough social issues. "We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society” - Angela Davis
REMINI(SCENE) CHALE WOTE FESTIVAL 2014:
Inkfluent also curated the Because Ancestors Live workshop headlined by renowned poet Nii Ayikwei Parkes and author Mariska Darko. We had installation artist Ibrahim Mohammed and other artists passing by to share from a creative heart.
Aside the vast beach space where one could catch some air and sun and less vehicular traffic due to the fact that motorbikes(zemejan) are the more preferred, Lome, Togo can boast of a generation of vocal seekers, visual code pioneers and street philosophers. Inkfluent visits every now and then to share and collaborate with artists there and they as well visit Accra sometimes to interact- a progressive artistic education culture merging these vibrant communities.
With the changes and advancements in technology, such as Internet availability enabling social media, file sharing, email and video-conferencing, collaboration has become a more productive way since our process of engagement is mediated by some of these networks to facilitate things since we cannot meet in person to work every time. .
Collaborations and streets art interventions between Inkfluent and artists from Lome include The Write Experience I, Jeudi Je dit, Tsalekema Festival, etc and these sessions have brought together artists from diverse genres.
The collaborative art we engage goes to raise the visibility of both groups, promote the social integration and strengthen the progress of members. The idea is to allow the possibility of providing a body of knowledge and tools that should enable us to identify and critically position regarding social constructions.

GUEST LECTURING AT MEST, GHANA
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” - Philip Pullman
When Emily Daher (friend of mine and fellow at http://meltwater.org/) declared to me that she'd like me to lecture the E.I.Ts(Entrepreneurs in Training) of her class on storytelling I was genuinely excited!
She'd seen me perform poetry at Ehalakasa and other venues several times and might have noticed a distinct aspect of my art that emit storyline vibes.
I prepared my presentation slides on the topic "THE ART OF STORYTELLING AND THE IDEAS MARKET." To me.. digital art, design, entrepreneurship, tech, etc have a source embedded in the fountain of ideologies and stories always bring out the emotional side of business and connect marketer to client most effectively.
Fast forward..it was a great experience! Very interactive from start, the students added an amiable touch, contributing and questioning. Yogendra, the young passionate folk reggae guitarist backed me as we closed off with two poetry pieces which had story-lines.
I believe such revolutionary methods of tuition would efficaciously plaster the dents the conservative style of pumping literature down the throats of learners leaves.
Anyways, we're having the biggest poetry festival West Africa knows this weekend so follow the fun and ehalakasa !
On Nov 7, Phreak Out Live is on at Alliance Accra though..Let's meet.. https://www.facebook.com/events/780946418611076/
