Chart of the Day
The U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will meet on Nov. 18 “to explore potential promises and risks related to virtual currency for the federal government and society at large,” it said in a statement today. The hearing, titled “Beyond Silk Road: Potential Risks, Threats, and Promises of Virtual Currencies,” will invite witnesses to testify about the challenges facing law enforcement and regulatory agencies, and include views from “non-governmental entities who can discuss the promises of virtual currency for the American and global economies.” Notice the hearing title: “Beyond Silk Road”—-a very direct linkage between Bitcoin and illegal activities. Not good. Bitcoin is going to be tracked by government and will be perhaps the least anonymous currency. Programs that mix bitcoins for attempted anonymity will be deemed money laundering devices.
Why does it mater that bitcoin was used on silk road? Everyone knows that dollars are used in drug deals every single day. It’s bullshit.
Because ZOMG THE WAR ON DRUGS! It’s perfect for sensationalism. They can paint drug-users and a portion of the “techie” crowd all as terrorists in one fell swoop!
7.3 october 25th, 5.0 on sunday, 4.9 on monday. Poor kids can't catch a break. Seems like normal aftershocks, but who knows. <haarp?>

France and Mexico have angrily demanded prompt explanations from the United States following “shocking” new spying allegations leaked by former US security contractor Edward Snowden
amusing that the shadow govt has resources at it's disposal to complete these type of ops - compared to the disaster of the supposed "healthcare for all" nonsense websites
For me, something is terribly wrong when an unarmed, emotionally disturbed young mother with a one-year-old strapped into the back seat of her car is gunned down in broad daylight by police officers.
This is a thoughtful piece and definitely worth a read.
